I appreciate your videos and spirit of exploration. It reminds me of my time as a UPS driver in remote areas of SW North Dakota and stumbling onto abandoned homesteads and pioneer cemeteries.
Mine explorers, I am subbed to your channel for a couple of years now and enjoy your work ! I hope the scum out there leave places like this alone because it may one day be a matter of life or death 💀 for someone !!
I believe that it is worthwhile and a good thing to do, to repair and fix up these cabins so that visitors can look at them and use them. However, the general public can not even use interstate rest areas that are patrolled and cleaned daily without vandalizing them. Are these cabins more protected because they are within Death Valley National Park?
@@DickinsonLivingInDickinsonNort yes, because the average person does not have the map skills, common sense prep skills and endurance to hike out there.
I would’ve enjoyed it if you would’ve showed us the logbook and maybe some of the earliest entries and maybe the last one The spring could you have walked over and shown us if it was just a little tiny puddle or if it was actually full of water
I was hoping the same, seeing places like this always make me wonder, what stories they could tell. My Aunt's house in Kansas had walls like that shack. We came to Cailf in 1956 4 kids 2 adults in a 1949 Hutson, no air conditioning, no radio, no Inter Net, no seat belts, no spending the night in a Motel. Came out Route 66 out of Ill. I was 6, for you young folks, I was born 1949. When my aunt passed she was 105 yrs old, born 1906. God willing, those reading this will be Blessed with a long Life. The only thing that matters in Life in the end, is the Love you shared...."God is Love"...Give a listen to The Avett Bro's "No Hard Felling's"...pretty much says it All...don't spend your life being angry, in the end it won't matter, it would be just a waste of Life
Absolute gorgeous area! Loved the story this journey. The photos at the end were awesome. Thank you for spending your $ on gas to get to these places... and sharing with us.
You earned my subscription with that one! imagery was spot on! Camera movements we're awesome! well done! Was a little bit disappointed we didn't get to see any actual water by the spring but other than that 10/10..

The cone crusher you spoke of is just above the mill site in the next gully above it. My wife and I have wondered what that cone thing was. We searched all around there several times looking for the mine but never found it. Looks like the place is in better shape than it was last time we were there in November of 2019. Thanks for the memories.
I stayed in that cabin about ten years ago. That stove works pretty good. It's a shame that second building fell down, the pooper was hidden out of sight from the cabin. I had fun with the miniature golf course in front of the cabin.
Thanks for another excellent adventure! Keep 'em coming! So we can assume Mr Rhodes and company are somewhere between Daggett and his claim? It's named Death Valley for good reason for sure.
Really enjoy the video & history. A suggestion? - maybe next time when you come upon a spring IN THE DESERT, share some footage. Maybe it wasn't much to look at, but just sayin'.
So glad I found your channel really enjoy your history/stories knowledge of the areas you share an the respect you have for trying to save these parts of our history, awesome area thanks for sharing as always be safe 👍👍👍👍👍

Keep up the great work and hope that folks out their respect others property and work, also a cabin like that could actually save a life one day !
Never a truer statement has been made. Who knows ? One day one of those destructive people may be out destroying by shooting their guns or breaking windows or doing graffiti and they have a serious accident where they need a shelter and warmth for a day or more. They would be very sad and possibly die if they didn't have even a single cabin to use for awhile.
This past week explored Manchester, an old gold mining town in Big Sur Monterey County. Not too much up there, but we did find the old mine which was mostly filled in. I have always been interested in ghost towns and mining camps, the best ones were Skiddo and the Keane Wonder Mine in Death Valley!
That old wood burner in the kept up cabin is absolutely beautiful. I would love to have one of those to heat my tiny house with. I'm sure it would need to be completely gone through first but oh my gosh. A silent testament to days gone by.
There's another lost Rhodes mine in Utah. They're still looking for that one.Must have been a lot of roads out west. Ha! no pun intended. Maybe all roads pointed west? Great video;always look forward to them..
The 1950 USGS topographic map shows 2 buildings: the existing one and another closer to the spring. No mines are shown in the area, but a "prospect" is located nearby to the NE.
Like the story ot this place have to wonder if he was hood winked 😉 some where between the place coming back to his mine out there some where but it along time ago see very cool stove 🐎hores & a mountain cabin & of course rust who say s rust isn't pretty it mellow out the tones & blends into the desert patinas lovely🦂🐾?
I know where the Rhodes Mines are , they consist of TWO Shafts about 700 feet apart with a large Gully between them , Both Shafts have a lot of Open Stoping . -- < Doc > .
No , Green grassy damp spot and a couple of trees . Although there is a lot less water than there was 50 years ago, as the Southwestern U.S. has been in a drought .
You are out in nowhere...well, I am sure you know where you are, but I still wonder how you don't get lost between all the valleys of stones. It looks interesting but scary to someone like me who never was even close to any desert. I read a lot so I know there could be mountain lions/ pumas....however they are called in that area, but I don't see you hesitate strolling around or going into buildings. Snakes! Surely there are snakes; again...so many holes in the buildings yet you open cabinets without hesitations. Does that mean no wild animals any longer? Perhaps you could talk about that. I am sure many of your subscribers really don't know either and would love to hear it. You are so used to it you may think no one is interested, but I think enough are. Thanks for the video. I may dream about it...scary place.
The Lost Rhodes mine that they are refering to in the books is the one in Utah, Gale Rhodes wrote a book on it as did George Thompson. It was a gold mine not a silver mine.
Have u heard of June Bug Mine ? Very little is known about it it’s located far north of Decatur road by the Gun Range in Las Vegas in Solomon’s Vegas Adventures In his videos he tells u n shows u how to get there it’s about a 5 mile hike each way I feel like there’s more to look at if go a little further then he did I feel maybe the M Cave could be over In That area where Kenny Veach may have found n went in maybe he got lost in the mine or in a cave in that area either way it got me wondering not much known about the mine or the area honestly have no idea how he came across it I think in one comment it tells u who owns the mine
That old Scandia cast iron stove is a low-quality Taiwanese knock-off of the much better Jotul stove. That Scandia probably dates back to the late '70s or early '80s. Scandia was sued and went out of business long ago.
That is a beautiful place to live peace quiet no traffic no people in surrounding area as well no crime no noises no depressed no stressful it's a wonderful place to live
Great video man. I find it amazing that there are cabins left for the public to use. If that was in my area the meth heads would have already burned it to the ground.
Same in ND, ID, and AZ, the unemployed, no-place-to-go, no-place-to-live, criminal Meth addicts find every old homestead, cave, campsite, forest, cemetery, and desecrate it, lurking around like a plague of zombies.

The lost Rhodes mine has nothing to do with sliver or California. It is about a lost Spanish gold mine in Utah and Rhodes made friends with the Indians and they showed him the mine and he would go there and get unlimited amounts of gold when needed by the Mormon church. He never gave up the location of the mine and so the location died with him. All the lost treasure books talk of this Utah lost mine, not this silver mine that you are showing.
