Omg, his eyes, smile and hair! I just want a good 24 hrs of footage of Alex in the 70s talking, singing and goofing around. Not enough footage exists but I appreciate what we do have.
I know you can tell he had so much fun even the dark stuff was playful. Theres a lot of fun in his work
alex being the king of the southern fried avant-garde scene at that time, less cliquey and insular than the yankee avant-garde
Alex is hot in this! Fun video thanks for posting..
Eggleston and Chilton. Good stuff.
thanks for posting, my favorite solo song of his.
RIP indeed.
The best video I've seen of Alex. Eggleston did a great, artistic piece. Yes, it would be nice to see more of Alex in the 70's, when he was such a hottie. But I'm glad we have a wide range of years also. Sometimes I just want to watch his stuff when he was older.
May Sid and Alex both RIP!
RIP Alex! I'm happy to have found this searching for Memphis' Antenna; enjoy!!

Soon after Big Star signed with Stax Records Stax was sold to Columbia. Columbia didn't care if Stax made money, they were just buying up the competition and no one at Columbia was interested in garage band from Memphis. So Big Star's first album got almost zero distribution at the very moment it needed to be in every record store. People heard some of their songs on the radio, but couldn't find the record. No promotion, no records on shelves.. guaranteed failure.
Columbia had nothing to do with it.
Yes this was well documented in Nothing Can Hurt Me as well as other films/videos on Big Star some of which are on UA-cam
It was their second album
Is that Dickinson on piano?

@@finleyduncan sid selvidge who put out the original pressing of Like Flies on Sherbet.
