Nate: I think you're right.
Wife: I know.
"I think you're right"
"I know"
😂
That bass is indeed on fire!! You're insane! We love it
6:00 Wow Nate, you've really mastered the art of playing fast!
lol
Distressed and roasted! That's custom shop quality for sure.
🤣🤣🤣
I think this would look even better with a tortoiseshell pickguard if you ever decide to upgrade it
Yeah or hammered copper, or acid washed steel ❤
Idk if im wierd, but i dont really like pick guards…. I dont like the friction it gives when trying to double thumb
- So, here's is your new bass guitar, what you gonna do?
- LET'S BURN IT!!!
Wow!!! What an amazing idea.
…and possibly the smartest thing you said (not discrediting any of what was said) was “honey you’re right!”
That is the greatest lesson to learn. Cheers
Gave me a good laugh too lol
Yes, when you improvising its always good to know where to stop lol To leave the nails there was def good idea but headstock could have gone a bit darker I think ))
You know your bass loves to fall all day everytime.
Surprising twist in the end ! Loved it.
It has been divine .If this bass was on the Harley Benton bass catalog i would buy It.
Congratulations
Yes yes
The coolest looking bass I've ever seen..an original.
Awesome 🔥🔥🔥
"Dad!! There's a guy on TV barbecuing his bass!"
Got to admit, that got my attention.
That turned out the koolest Harley Benton bass I've seen yet, & sounds pretty good, thats Custom shop stuff bud, Fender charge a fortune ,Harely Benton should make a burnt/distressed/reliced bass kit ....neat job Nate
Nice!
I like that kind of projects. 💥
That bass is SICK!
The whole thing is beautiful, but man that headstock is something else... Now I want one. Super great job !
Great project! Giving me all kinds of ideas haha
Hi Nate. Really really really excelent work tonight in Chile. THX for the show!!
Thanks, man! You were such an amazing crowd!!!
@@NateNavarro when the bands are good we're an amazing crowd
Came out pretty awesome.
Damn, awesome playing man!
thats amazing!
The body looks super duper cool
I like your sunburns it fits very well the burnt bass 🔥
That heavy riff at the end is the best.
oo ...never thought of setting fire to my bass. Nice =¬) Awesome playing as per usual.
I love how you can hear Padmé in the background sometimes.
That’s insane. I’ve never seen anyone work on a bass kit like that before. Crazy as it is, this is rather innovative. Especially after the results. The bass has a pretty cool tone.
I’ve recently purchased a bass kit myself and I’m looking forward to working on once warm weather comes by in my hometown. Of course I wouldn’t work on it like that, but I’m getting pumped on working on the bass kit.
Well there is the famous heavily burnt esp guitar from richard kruspe
@@acekkkkkk that’s cool 😎 🎸
Update: my bass kit is complete and it turned out phenomenal. I got to color the bass midnight blue and it looks totally awesome. And the tone sounds nice and punchy. I can honestly say this was a fun and productive experience.
nice video :)
Sounds awesome!! if you can share the effects you use to record. That last shot brings my heart race XD
Nate this is great! :) You did a superb job with this! You may have branched out your bass playing talents...think about it, "Burn Pit Basses" ! :) Best wishes- Brent,VT
SO COOL
Sounds hot 🔥
Nice. I might just do this to one of my J basses.
Like number 💯 ,Brazilian fan !!!!!cheers from Brasil nate !!! Peace guy
"Nate, howd you get that kool finish on your bass"?
"I burnt it. No really, i literally BURNT it." 🔥🔥
I really enjoyed that SLIUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK sound when removing the pickguard cover plastic 😂
Great bass ! Your playing reminds me of Les Claypool.
Wow I want to try p- style bass with burning
I endorse this method 100%
I'm going to build a P kit, and with a burn-finish as well...
But I'm going to do that with a burner - bit more controlled.
And after sanding it a bit, finish it with Tru-Oil.
Roasted basses on an open fire lol love that song
That came out amazing! Sounded great to me as well, sounds like you! Honest question, would you gig with that?
now THAT"S how you do it!
Wow - nice job on the kit Nate! Your final clip of it falling from the railing is tragic - the commentary should be, "Noooooooooooooo!!!!"
lit
never seen fire used to finish a guitar. creative idea, is it still relatively strong? and like no charcoal or anything?
If you burn it longer, you can get Ash Body
Best✌.
Robert Trujillo’s Flamethrower Jazz Bass!
That fall at the end though ! ☹️
Great! What kind of finish did you use for the headstock and body after burning?
Thanks, Marco! The finish was from Minwax, but I don't remember which one.
Good
Perfect name smores bass.
What product did you put on the wood to preserve it?
Hello, the effect of burning on the wood is spectacular. Could you tell me if the quality of the mounting kit is good? The construction of the wooden parts, especially the neck and frets? greetings
I have 2 of them. The necks are very good and smooth, the fret ends could get some smoothing, but absolutely playable. I swapped the pickups for EMGs, and with those it sounds really good and hum-less. Most bang for below 100€. Body is light, finish is also nice. Some fine sanding and painting and you are good to go. Tuners and bridge are okay.
dude, where do you live!? it looks amazing, and so does the bass ;)
Looks very nice, but how with feeling of this instrument? Is it adequate to price or better/worse?
For under 100 Euro? I don't believe it's perfect, but good luck finding anything better for this price.
Hi....so finally is it worth business this bass? Thanks for all dude
Hi Nathan, what strings did you use ?
Do you know if the tuner pegs are standard? I want to build this but all black, and want to replace the bridge and tuning pegs with black ones.. Reckon I will need new holes or will they fit replacements?
What finish was applied to the body after it had been burned and sanded??
Holy crap the ending almost made me spill my marinara
got my eyes wide open in panic
lol at the end. Dang sorry man
7:56 awesome riff, is that part of song.
I like it but the white pick guard isn't the right one for this. I would like to do this one time looks like fun.
Very nice and cool idea.nice playing at end as usual. What's the product applied on the bass at 2:42 ?
Was looking for this, and I think I found it (kinda) : Minwax fast-drying polyurethane varnish. Either clear satin or semi-gloss, but since it's not very reflective, I'd say clear satin. I didn't find the exact same package, but I'm 95% sure it's this one.
I've heard of "roasted maple" necks but that's ridiculous :D
How does it SMELL tho, Nate? Got that great tone smell?
How did you burn it with it been varnished?
I can smell the wood even from the Philippines
🙏
A little off-topic, but what is your opinion on reading/watching films while practising repetitive motions like thumping etc ?
I am a beginner and I do it and it helps me immensely.
Honestly, it looked better without the pickguard.
Nate, Is it oil?
Aaaargh. My life is plagued by... Looks great.
My friends apartment went in fire and he managed to save all his guitars. Actually, they all still play. Most of them have a heavy charbroil effect and we spoke about roasted necks and he was , first off, stoked that he saved them but also enthusiastic about the new tone. Roasted necks being popular and seeing my friend have this experience. I began torching my basses. They look a little like , this. However, they were fully assembled. The tone went in the positive direction. But hey look, Nate did it first!
missed an opportunity to write NIN with nails
OK I ordered a strat-like guitar kit to give a little sister to your bass. I fell in love with your design, watched your video at least 20 times, and I can't get it out of my mind. I'll certainly post a video too and give you credit. Thanks a lot ! Just a question, is your finish a clear coat or is it tainted a bit ? Is it matte, satin, semi-gloss or gloss ?
Awesome! I look forward to seeing your vid. I used a clear coat with gloss. It did bring a warmer yellow out of the finish.
@@NateNavarro Thx ! I'll comment the link below when it's done :)
@@NateNavarro Hi Nate, I did it faster than expected, here is the link if you wanna check it out, thanks a LOT again for the idea, I'm in love : ua-cam.com/video/2zznngIPu8U/v-deo.html
great Idea!!! maybe the pickguard looks a bit new ;-) reg. Harald
Thanks, Harald! Good point. I bet a roughed up aluminum pickguard might suit it well.
i think Chris from crimson guitars would like it...
Wouldn't the fire ruin the glue holding the fret board on
sad ending😅
The Pyrobass I
👀👀👀👏👏👏👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very flamed
Thomann is all sold out! 😖
very sus technique @ 3:05
I really hate that so many kits and basses in general have the cabel tunnels in the front and are therefore reliant on the pickguard. At least give me the chance to decide to keep the cool texture/pattern/colouring on my instrument. Especially if it's a kit.
Keto coffee is number 1
😄😅
I'll never understand playing dressup dolly with guitars, you should put that effort into playing.
I had so much fun with this project. Sometimes is nice to get outside. :)
Звучит знойно..)
How come you didn't send me a kit Harley Benton? I've only got approx 260,500 less subscribers than Nate!
Makes the tone much "darker" and "hotter" 🤡
You could have played something simple for the demo.
Impossible.
Idk why but your voice is so much lower than I thought
