Mackenyu is perfect for this role. They made a wise decision to hire him. He’s a natural when it comes to the actions scenes and you can clearly tell he’s trained in martial arts. For actors who aren’t trained, they end up using camera tricks which doesn’t work as well.
He's as ripped as he is, because he did horseback archery, archery, gymnastics, wrestling, martial arts, AND Japanese sword fighting growing up. The dude was like athlete of the year, every year!

LOVING how he rarely ever exposes his back to the enemy and when he does, it's because his enemy is already dead, can't reach him, or he has one of his swords guarding his back! Action stars exposing their back in sword fights in Hollywood, was always a pet peeve of mine!

This is what I love about anime. When they are still in a cartoon series we might probably say its a fiction. Slowly they become real and now we say it is impossible that this is what we call possibilities that there are people who are born and destined to revive a fiction to reality. And one of this is Mackenyu Maeda. Since the first time I saw him in his movie called overdrive, I already new he has a great potential to do some action movies like Takeru Satoh...and guess what, Mackenyu was one of the greatest opponent fighter of Takeru Satoh in Rurouni Kenshin. I even thought of suggesting that Mackenyu could also portray san guku in dragon ball z or hero, in gandam wing waltz, or eugene in yuyu hakushu... He's a total package thu. Great body, sharp mind, well-mannered, and low key type of person, and the looks...yet so talented. I hope Mackenyu would never change... His smile would made my day.😄😀😍💗
To everyone who hasn’t watched the anime yet and fell in love with Zoro (and/or other things) through the LA, I hope you decide to start watching the anime because it is AMAZING!! I really love how the live action turned out, but I promise you the anime is just MINDBLOWING! There’s honestly so much more to love about the characters and the storyline - and it also has a lot more comic relief than the live action, if that’s something you’d like. I myself am not updated with the episodes yet but just anticipating all that’s yet to happen makes my heart beat faster! So if you have time, please do watch the anime!!🎉

What I like about his choreography (compared to the anime), is that they squeezed in him actually using his third sword. I don't remember him swinging the katana in his mouth in the anime. If that happened, it must be very rare.

I only started watching One Piece live because of the hype I've seen on social media about the actor playing Zoro. I just saw some anime clips of Zoro and I noticed he got only one eye open. Does that mean we're gonna expect a one eye-Zoro in live? It's sad, that's like minus one beautiful view. Haha
