This was my neighborhood around my early childhood. Like late 80's and early 90's. I really don't have much of a memory of it but I can tell it has changed over the years.
I lived on Stockholm between Seneca and Cypress. They tore the apartment building in which I grew up down, the factory is now a public school and my elementary school, St. Aloysius is now part of the public school. Basically wiped out most of my childhood (1963-1978). Thanks for the video though!
My parents bar The Anchor in the mid-late 70s was either what is Or whats next to, the Mexican place on Menahan&Seneca. I cant remember if it was the corner or 1 in from corner. Used to go get a bottle of RC Cola every day from Sieb Distributors .. and my aunt would send me to cherry valley to pick up bread for dinner. She lived right there on Himrod.
Another great video! I used to live on Linden St. right off Knickerbocker Ave. Went to St. Barbara's Elementary school...beautiful Spanish style church. Is it still there? I know the school closed down years ago. Thanks.
Thank you, as a matter of fact I made 2 videos of St. Barbara's a few years ago take a look. ua-cam.com/video/nlG2KIc4eR8/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/AcCch8Bw44w/v-deo.html

Ur videos r great, but This is by fars the best one cause its where i grew up. I actually got choked up seeing my old building on Seneca ave, right next to 81Annex. I remember as a kid standing on my Roof to watch the 4th of July 'FireWorks' or sometimes my Dad would take us to 'Carvines Park' on Dekalb ave to watch them. U mis a important businees however thats been there longer than any. The 'Barber Shop' next to the Jasienowki studio. BarberShop been there over 40 yeaars, more or less
Do you live in the area currently? I was wondering, because im assuming you used to live here before and then moved, but im wondering if you moved back because i see all these videos about Ridgewood. Nice nids by the way. Thanks for capturing the neighborhood in its entirety, little by little. Most people either focus on one part or the other.
Good video but for the fact you did not mention Cozy Shack Rice Pudding store.I believe it was located between Stanhope and Himrod Streets back in the late 60s and early 70s.
street with ripped signs off is himrod. I used to live on the other-side by cypress. seebs deposit is what that store used to be called and a store across from it was cherry valley if I remember right.
Yea thats very true. I guess ur a good person to ask this question. When you take a look at the murder rate back then in the 70s and 80s the facts say that Ridgewood was a more violent place back then but evry1 else thats lived here for awhile says that Ridgewood is currently at its worst now. What do u think?
& I think everyone knows Ivan & Johnny, from 503 Seneca ave. They have kids name Devon (DJ), & Isis Brianna (Pookie). On Bleeker was Patricia, Glen Chinese kid, Chasity, Chris who past RIP, & there parents John & Barbara! RIDGEWOOD QUEENS I LOVE U 4 EVER!!
Jasienowki studio been there about 20 years. BarberShop been there over 40 cause i went there wen i was 4 im now im 36 & my dad went there before i was born. Hes a tall older italian guy, always gives Lolly Pops. I mis'em. Beats the getto Barbershops anyday. I hope he didnt pass caus hes a nice guy. He & my Dad were freinds. Video Force was another 1, a video shop that closed down. 'Warning the 'Fenix' livery cab service havesome bad people working in it.There not selective on who they hire!
Neverthelessless Ridgewood use to be a great place till the perverts, haters, & those Cab service company guys came around. I guess we all 3 are on the same page! I was half Hispanic, but I grew up with the first Italians there. I remember hanging with theses cool kids who called themselves the 'Ridgewood boys, 'Them Bleeker Posse, the Metro Posse, SBD crew, THO, & these few cool guys, 'Crane (Rob), Stod (Fred), Jerry (Chas), Max (Troe), Elvis (Lex), Pupy (Marcello), Raul (Menor), David, & Ric'.

Hope you are still well rdgwd237, that area was a lot nicer in the 50's, society is changing without a doubt.

I like your Ridgewood videos. I never really go by Seneca Avenue much, whenever Igo to Ridgeood it's either Metropolitan or Fresh Pond Road.
I do not like that it has become over-populated. Parking is difficult, single family homes are now multi family homes. Quality of life has decreased.

That's my street back I was living in NY.
I miss 1984 to 87 ridgewood. The pizza spot on gates and seneca. I wonder how pa and his brother dejoe are.
