Something I’ve been toiling over a lot recently is whether I actually NEED any SG boots. I’m 40 (just) and have been playing over 35s for a couple of seasons and the pitches we play on are in general a really good standard. Way better than Sunday league stuff. We’ve played all season on maybe one bad pitch where we all wore FG thinking ground would be frosty but by kick off it was just sludge and no one could stand up. Genuinely wish I’d had some SG that day just to see if it made any difference because it was that bad I genuinely think the few extra mm’s wouldn’t have done a thing. I played on our home pitch earlier on in the season when it was heavily rained on and even with SG boots I still slipped a lot. Anyway I need some new SG but can’t decide if I wanna pay the money for any because I’m not sure the actual difference it makes when the ground gets bad enough to wear them if that makes sense. Throughout my life playing I can’t say I’ve ever noticed a massive difference. Personally on your average Sunday league pitch I’m starting to think they are just another way to sell more boots. I get why pros where them where that 1% can make the difference but at amateur level I’m just not sure.
How Long will it take Till the studs are worn off? I Like Anti Clog but if the studs are worn out after 3 Months Its a waste of money. Should i buy the anti clog or the sg pro one?
I have a question, If i have an SG-Pro pair of boots from Nike where I can change the studs, if i change the 6 metal studs to 6 conical and shorter studs will it be suitable for AG or FG?
does it make sense that I saw a player using SG on a dry pitch with no rain (in the Euros)? I thought I saw that and was confused. I thought SG is only for rain.
The pitches would be watered and maintained such that they aren’t too dry. You can wear sg on dry pitches but if the soil is too hard you’d feel a lot of stud pressure
@@substanceftbl I see. Perhaps some players who play in smaller leagues (Croatian for example) are used to playing less watered pitch so they chose SG even though it’s technically dry. Anyways thx for the vid bro !
Thank you for making this Great video! I have a question I own Nike Mercurial Dream Speed Super fly 8 Elite FG. I am thinking of customizing it by cutting the plastic FG studs and change them to AG and SG. The problem I don’t know what studs will fit the cleats and what studs I should cut on the cleats. So I need help finding out what studs to cut or customize on three cleats and what studs to buy AG and SG. So that way I can play almost anywhere with out worrying about touring my ankle. I hope you can help. 🫡
Hi mate, first of all thanks! Secondly, I don’t know too much about stud conversions as I’ve never done one. What I would say is to make sure the threading on the inserts match the thread on the studs
Great video! There is always that question whether Nike should also sell the sg-pro variation. I think they would win over resellers

Great video! I have a question so you can wear it on normal grass and on artificial grass? And are the stud easy To get loose?
You shouldn’t wear SG boots on either surface and not if you tighten them adequately
