You see with basic tools this could be done, just have to have patience with this. Sure torch would have zipped it off simple but not everyone has a torch, this is for average Joe's that want to fix or repair temporary until it can be fixed. You guys do alot I am happy I reference what needs to be done or expect in situation like this. Solve issues quickly and efficiently

Great video. Instead of the one hanger solution use a bit of steel ( threaded bar for example or rebar or pipe ) or even a copper pipe... have a look around.
Nice video,I'm going to have a go at mine soon but i suspect i wont be able to get the nuts off so will probably have to take it to the garage.I was surprised you didnt use exhaust paste, lol
Did no one tell him the flange was broken? Why leave that that way? That's going to be a leak. I just stopped in to see if there was a aftermarket exhaust for my SVT focus. Then I saw this......
what pisses me off is that guy used the spray lubricant to punch out the remaining bolt on the flange instead of all of the nuts / bolts an hour / day in advance lol.
Looks like you left that rubber mount right up tight against the exhaust pipe (at 13:35). How long til that fails? 15 minutes? Also why not use a torch to heat the nuts prior to removal, more chance of clean removal without breaking anything. And finally when you broke the part of the flange off, there was no mention of it or anything done to try and fix it. Doesn't make me want to trust 1A auto parts.
+OhMostBobulousOne We're trying to show this repair can be done without a torch. Not everyone has access to that. The large washers help with the broken flange. The exhaust doesn't get hot enough to worry about the hanger. Sometimes you fix a car up "just enough" to get by. Not every repair can be text book perfect.
This is a great video, but he does have a point these exhaust pipes can get up to 1200 degrees and rubber has a melting point of 260 so it will get hot enough
@@1AAuto not when you are a garage or credible parts retailer...How much did that customer pay for "just enough"?? This is why people do it themselves..
I agree with 1A auto reply. The car is at least 14 years old. Not every guy on his back in his garage trying to fix his beater will be comfortable with putting a torch under their car. If you have enough mechanical know how to even start this repair you will know how to deal with the broken flange. The 1A videos are great and have saved me a ton of money.

I like this dude.... It broke ..that's ok 😂💪
Where is the libk to that part?
the pipe will melt the rubber hanger the way you have it mounted after about 2 hours of driving
I wonder if the rubber grommet melted shortly after driving the car home, due to it contacting directly on the exhaust?

Exhaust flange kit

Would it have been practical to use a nut splitter from the beginning, or are the bolts too brittle from prolonged heating to be of further use?

This can be a nightmare job as the nuts and bolts corrode so badly I had to cut through the flanges and drill the the studs out
