That first Sonic and the black knight cutscene where Sonic was teleported to another world with his chili dogs is my favorite chili dog depiction from the franchise.
He had 2 chilli dogs and in sonic Unleashed when you were talking to Amy you had the option to ask Amy on a date and in the final Cutscene if black knight Amy gets mad at sonic because sonic forgot about their date. HMMMMMmmmmm
7:06 It gets worse. Not only does Sonic eat a regular chililess hot dog in Sonic X, he also ate a bowl of chili in another episode. Meaning Sonic ate both hot dogs and chili in the Sonic X continuity but never thought to put them together.
I always thought sonic liking chilli dogs was joke of sorts where chilli is known to give people the shits otherwise known as the runs. As it gives people the runs maybe the devs used that play on words since sonic runs fast
I don't know why they chose chili dogs exactly, but irl hedgehogs are obligate carnivores (they strictly eat meat, in their case it's comprised of mainly insects and scavenged meat). Chili dogs are definitely meaty and the beans add extra protein, so I like to think it's a meaty treat that naturally appeals to him. Can almosy guarantee the people who came up with this did not go through that level of thinking, but this is just a reasoning I like to think about! I love hedgehogs just as much as I love Sonic

Bugs are just a type of meat, generally with a lot more chitin. Some hedgehogs do snack on fruits and vegetables, but their digestive track doesn't really extract nutrition from them that well. It's kinda like how some cats will snack on non-meaty things, but 95% of their diet should be meat.

Also, it wouldn't be a partnership because Sonic (restaurant) makes WAAAY more money than Sega right now. So one is buying the other (spoiler, it ain't Sega). So the only way for this partnership to happen is a sponsorship in the Sonic movie or Sonic Rangers

Since Adventure was also in development and aired first, the early comic took a comedic tone but with the SatAm characters, with beta versions of Sally and Rotor named Boomer. So technically the chili dog obsession comes from the SatAm/Adventures Bible and character notes, but the Archie comic was released first so it gets the prize for 1st mention of chili dogs

I did this recipe today, the sweetness is countered by the salty beef hotdog( I wrapped bacon on my hot dogs so maybe that helped too.) Overall a solid meal I'm glad I tried out.

I was re-watching the old cartoon the other day for kicks, and in the second or third, the Sonic Says section has Tails and a Mole Man sitting on a bench, Tails has some hot dogs, and the Mole has some chili. Tails asks the Mole for some chili, and he's like "This is all I got." and the Mole does the same to Tails. Then Sonic runs over and is like "Hey guys, look at this. If we all share, we can turn those normal ol' hotdogs into some mouth-water chili dogs!" Does his magic, then it shows Tails and the Mole casually eating their chili dogs, and Sonic is holding one too going "See, if we share, everyone wins!" and winks at the camera with his new-found chili dog. Sonic the Hedgehog 2’s Casino night zone has multicolored chili dog bumpers you can bounce off of. I think this may be the first instance of the chili dog reference in the games.
Looks like Famous Dave's uses primarily pork barbecue, which tends to be sweeter. I'd recommend a steak barbecue to go with the ground beef of the chili. Sweet Baby Ray's original sauce has a good tang and heat, and if you can manage to get Rudy's BBQ Sause, that's some of the best in the country.

Used to eat chili dogs as a kid so much till i was ten years old. Chili dogs and burgers and hated pizza back then. Nowadays i bet i would still adore chili dogs and have some nostalgia eating one and love pizza and burgers too.

@@SweaterSwagg Yooo i love a good salad. Caesar and taco salad are the best salads imo. Nowadays i mainly eat frozen meals, toast and ramen. Takeout every now and then and rarely a homecooked meal.

I was re-watching the old cartoon the other day for kicks, and in the second or third, the Sonic Says section has Tails and a Mole Man sitting on a bench, Tails has some hot dogs, and the Mole has some chili. Tails asks the Mole for some chili, and he's like "This is all I got." and the Mole does the same to Tails. Then Sonic runs over and is like "Hey guys, look at this. If we all share, we can turn those normal ol' hotdogs into some mouth-water chili dogs!" Does his magic, then it shows Tails and the Mole casually eating their chili dogs, and Sonic is holding one too going "See, if we share, everyone wins!" and winks at the camera with his new-found chili dog. What a message, lol.
In Sonic X, there is no confirmation that Sonic likes hotdogs more than chili dogs since they never say their opinions on them.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2’s Casino night zone has multicolored chili dog bumpers you can bounce off of. I think this may be the first instance of the chili dog reference in the games.
Looks like Famous Dave's uses primarily pork barbecue, which tends to be sweeter. I'd recommend a steak barbecue to go with the ground beef of the chili. Sweet Baby Ray's original sauce has a good tang and heat, and if you can manage to get Rudy's BBQ Sause, that's some of the best in the country.

Chili Dogs in Japanese Sonic came earlier than that. Sonic and his friends occasionally snack on Chili Dogs in season 1 of Sonic X, and that series came out a year before Sonic Advance 3.
