  • Should Tennessee expect a dose of disrespect when the media who cover the SEC vote next week to predict the conference's standings?
Probably a hint of it, at least.
Like the Vols, programs like Alabama and LSU offer a mixture of strengths and lingering questions, but Tennessee might struggle to keep up with those programs in the vote. History sways the vote, and Tennessee spent years swimming in mediocrity before Josh Heupel's arrival, while Alabama and LSU thrived.
On today's episode, Blake Toppmeyer, John Adams and Adam Sparks predict where Tennessee will be picked in the media's projected order of finish.
Their verdict: Tennessee will be picked No. 6. But, two of the hosts think the Vols should be picked higher than that.
Also in this episode, an explanation for why quarterback Nico Iamaleava did not make the cut to represent the Vols at media days in Dallas.

I think Heupel is bringing 3 very intelligent players to Dallas. The National can see and hear Nico in a few weeks!😊

Vols final record could be 10-2 or 11-1. The floor should be 9-3. I think we finish atleast 3rd or 4th in the conference and will get the nod over any other SEC school not named, UGA, Bama, LSU or Texas to get into the playoffs. Name wise all of these schools would get in the playoffs if they had similar records over any other school in the conference.

Having a better defense and better QB play will help Tennessee upset Alabama unlike last season. Our WRs are still better than their DBs.
With Pili back at LB, QBs won't just be running wild over our defense.

better refs would be the biggest help. Bama committing no live play penalties even when they ripped our linemen to the ground via facemasks is what let them win last year... I don't like going to the ref factor however it is a real thing and it really came into play last year to stunt our Vols

Don’t need Riff Raff up there answering questions saying how he’s going to throw 400 tds. Should take the punter, kicker and long snapper.

If Heupel can’t figure out in year 4 how to beat Oklahoma on the road than we have big issues. He’s got an elite QB this year with a good defense now.

NO.... no no no. Not at all. Oklahoma has a great team and they will be fired up to play us at their place. We are a legit underdog on all betting sites for a reason. If we win this one then get fired up, however if we lose it, be chill

I don’t doubt that they will not be fired up to play but you have the best player on defense in college football. I’m sick of the backseat and the o well we have a chance. We have shown we can do it in 22. We need to make every Nico year count. We will go 10-2 this year at worst.

@@greenwave819 If we destroy UF at home, than I will take TN even more over OU. OU has a terrible secondary. 112th last season. WE like to think ours wasn't up to par? Mercy. lol Also, respect to Arnold but he didn't impress me late last season. Jackson Arnold just isn't Dillion Gabriel and I don't think he out performs Nico. He will get picked 3 times against us at home. And if they can't run on us, they ain't beating us, even if they throw for 400 yards.

Why in the world did they choose Dallas for media days? Is Nashville too close to everyone?

  • @gwhite7136
    @gwhite7136 Місяць тому

Oklahoma had two glaring ugly D stats last season. 112th ranked secondary. TN was 62nd and that should improve this season. OU was nearly 40th in redzone D. TN 24. For perspective, UGA was 25th in redzone D. Rushing defense in 23, OU was 44th. TN was 21, UGA was 20th. I think TN's offensive scheme is a huge advantage. TN will spread OU wide and make them pick their poison. Stack the box and risk man to man coverage or not and sell out in the secondary and TN will run all over them. Also, how many snaps can OU go without subbing if TN opts for up tempo all game? I worry for OU when TN does this and if they get up in scoring quickly OU will go to the air and Arnold being pressured to go to the air is a recipe for disaster for OU.
Rushing offense. TN was 10th nationally, 1st in the SEC. OU was 35th.

if tennessee would communicate better on defense and stop busting so many damn coverages against alabama and georgia they would be better contenders the team has always been good and they always have a solid roster. There line backer communication was terrible against georgia and theres no reason tennessee shouldn't be able to to compete with florida they haven't won more than 6 games since 2020 these loses count because using last year as an example tennessee was ranked 11th when they lost to UF last year do the math if that was this year in CFP
