Max's facial expressions are so subtle yet they speak so much. His 'I'm dead inside' face, and then towards the end, his happy face when Jane left. And how his eyes softened considerably when he looked at Emily. AHHHHHH this guy is so damn talented. And his eyes when he looks at Emily... damn.

So many people are called underrated and not everyone on earth can be rated high because if everyone was rated high then everyone would have to be each others fans which is impossible because of how many people there are. It’s so annoying when people say people are underrated because of exactly this reason. Everyone is rated fine, saying he is underrated is equal to saying other people should lose their fame to make room for him to be famous and others less famous, and if that is what you are saying it is kind of rude

The first girlfriend is trying to clean the house. That's not because the character is looking for a mother rather than a partner, it's showing that she's trying to change him. When he's in the bathroom, she's dousing him with that spray to try and obliterate his ugly history/habits.
The second girlfriend ignores the mess, or plays around in it. Rather than try to obliterate the bathroom allegory she just puts a scented candle in there, she plays videogames with him, rather than trying to stop him from being himself.
So the allegory is that Emily accepts him for who he is where his first girlfriend was just trying to change him.
If you watch, Emily isn't doing any house keeping other than putting down a scented candle and getting rid of his picture (memories) of Jane.
