Jon. Firstly, many thanks for all the videos and support. Very informal and fun. I’ve learnt loads.
But I’m not seeing the love for this connector, particularly given it’s a pay for version. The only element I can see paying for might be the PDF converter, but you can already do this in OneDrive for free, and you say this is buggy in its use in SharePoint.
I created a solution like this, without having to pay to use this connector. I did this by creating master word document in a SharePoint Library that has metadata for the fields/columns like “bonus to” and “bonus amount”. You then edit the master doc to use the SharePoint metadata to replace relevant fields in the word document. Then in your Flow you create a copy of this master word document in the same library (new unique name) and update its sharepoint metadata/properties, fields “bonus to” and “bonus amount”. Then when the document is email, open, or in my case, bounced through a Flow drop off/ pickup in onedrive that does the convert to pdf, it will have all the fields filled in. Job done.
I accept this is a few extra steps, but in my case the sharepoint library of the files and the metadata is useful, as I point Power BI at it to monitor how many bonuses have been given out per business, department, average bonus values etc.
This Word connector is quicker and the pdf within the sharepoint environment is better for enterprises, but it would need to do more for me to at it to out DLP and support users requesting a paid for licence.
I’m happy to share the solution or understand the roadmap for the connector more.
    Keep up the great work,
    Yours, always listening and learning.

Awesome! I am using part of this as consequence of a approval flow which trigger is MS Forms. The requestor fulfill a form requesting a Corporate Credit Card, after that goes to a managerial approval. If approved, fires notifications and emails for all involved and also fulfill as Word Template protocol, which is sent to the requester to deliver signed to receive the corporate card.

So I used the first part of the video but made a slightly different template model. Rather then a trigger I used s Microsoft form to take the user to a specific template.
    1. Create a drop down of all your template titles in Microsoft forms.
    2. Create new sections and populate with queiries to complete your various templates.
    3. Use the branching options on the first drop down to link your drop-down option to the relevant template section.
    4. Use switch function in flow, to create the process in the start of this video for all your templates . Make sure to use the exact name as in the drop-down box.
    5. Go on holiday, when your colleagues needs a template they go to the form, choose the template , complete the questions and boom a ready made template in their inbox

@@rashmidangol6398 I'll write it in here in a bit

    • @ABriefHistoryOfhistory
      @ABriefHistoryOfhistory 3 роки тому

      @@rashmidangol6398 its quite simple.
      1. Create a form and the first drop down option (which I called choose a tempate) has to list the name of your templates. You need to note what you exactly write down here. You then use branching on this drop down to create questions for that template.
      2. In power autotmate have a new response when submitted and have the above form chosen. Next item is get response details.
      3. Choose the switch function and choose the choose a template option.
      4. You will need each switch funnel to be equal to the template name in point 1. We will call this first funnel letter to client.
      5. The next thing to to in letter to client is insert Populate Word Document template and and fill in all the necessary fields with form responses.
6.I then have a file created on a sharepoint site following the population, just in case I need to reference it in the future.
7.Send an email with the attachment to the responders email. Copy and repeat for each template funnel.

Is it possible to add a dynamic property to the Convert Word Document to PDF for the File parameter (you just selected the file from the menu). If we can't use a dynamic property then this flow connector is completely useless. I've searched the web, and seems as though you can only select the file manually :(
Also, can't believe that Microsoft have made this a Premium connector - for such a useful scenario that many people want. Unfortunately, workarounds seem to be the only option at the moment for us as we can't justify the cost.
