Thank you for reminding me I need a new jeans needle. The only time I attempted jeans is when I was in the 9th grade, they were sewn well just didn’t fit well. I didn’t know to much about pattern adjustments then. I have made several denim skirts, it’s time to try another pair of jeans. I find steam pressing thick seams helps to flatten them, maybe I will give hammering a try as well. Thick seams test my old machine, slow is definitely the way to go. Thanks for all you do.

Great tip, Kim Thanks! I use the tip about hammering and know it works wonders. Would suggest that it works better if you steam the fabric first (use a pressing cloth!) and use a rubber mallet instead of a metal hammer.

I never thought of using the hump jumper for knits. That's a great idea! Thanks

Great video Kim! Important needle size recommendations for denim. I never thought of using the hump jumper for knits. I'm glad you mentioned the black button on the sewing foot, it's often forgotten.

Wonderful and helpful video! I didn’t know you can use the hump jumper on thin fabrics or knits! Your new hair style is so very flattering! So cute! Take care ❤ God bless!

Thanks for the great video, Kim! I have both the Crescendo and a legato patterns but haven’t worked up the courage to try to make them yet.

Kim, this video was very helpful. I bought the crescendo Jean pattern today and looking forward to making it soon. It will be my first pair of jeans. I’m going to start with a muslin to check the fit. Love the new haircut. It looks great, take care-Claudia

My only complaint about jeans is that they s T r e t c h. They fit when I put them on but after a short time they morph into pull ons 🤣

Yep- the 100% cotton ones do. But good stretch denim with good recovery keeps its shape.

I agree and only buy non stretch denim jeans or fabric. The stretch denim falls off by the end of the day. The non stretch denim only stretch a tiny amount and I don’t have to wash them after every wear.

Hi Kim, great tips! Question: would you use denim needles in your serger as well? Just bought the Crescendo pattern using your link, can't wait to make them! Your haircut looks great!

Thank you! If the denim needles are an option on your serger, then yes. I have a Juki MO1000, and it can take regular machine needles of all types. However, some sergers require serger needles. For those, I would just use the largest needle possible.
