Another vote for "Hook of the Week". Tehy're both useful projects and perfect beginner items. Lots of different techniques used, but on a simple object so us beginners can concentrate on the basics.
Funny, you began the video saying that some people thought these hook of the weeks were beginner type projects . To those peope I say try this tramel hook. Definately not a beginner project but very much so an interesting challenge. Once again well done John. This one looks like a neat project to try.
Exactly Jim, way way beyond my few hrs in the smithy. I would be pretty intemidated if I were tasked w this project w o John's tutoring. Ok tbh even w John's tutoring it would seem a daunting task for me as a very basic beginner 🙏 Be blessed Jim Crawford out ⚒️⚒️
I like the more advanced hook options for hook of the week, keeps it interesting for everyone.. hope the hooks continue, because we all have too much scrap metal and it’s a lot more valuable when it’s something useful, and not just stuff in a bucket.. cheers
Sunday morning routine.... Coffee, walk the dogs, HOOK OF THE WEEK. I'd be lost without it. Not too long, not to short. And extremely interesting. Keep up the good work Sir.
You have not made a bad or boring video yet. So I will veiw anything you put out, but I am really glad you are still doing the hook of the week! I like this adjustable trammel, it is big enough for any campfire & small enough for backpacking & a single night in the wilderness. Used with a single rod & two large rock & the soup on or coffee/hot chocolate .
I haven’t done any forging in decades, but still have the few pieces I made back then (and still use). I enjoy watching you make simple projects from scraps.
Hook of the week is great! Basic work that good for both newbys and more experienced to learn and refresh knowledge! Believe me, you are not wasting your or anyone else’s time as we can all learn from you!! Thanks for your time John, my work has improved thanks to you!
Hello Jack I am back from my hunting Trip And i am glad that No one gets hurt No Hunters and no animals 😉😏 We shoot nothing Now its time to see your video and it is quite amazing I dont understand the other people who write you to stop the hook of the week In your hook of the week Videos all your creativ quality and your work skills come together You Shows the process of building the hooks in a understandebel way For every one who will learn blacksmithing Please get on with it Greeting from the little village near the Harz mountains in Germany Good bless you and your family Yours Frank
I like the hook of the week. Truth is that I can be a little unimaginative in my projects so seeing all the different designs helps with that for me. You might be thinking I'm a little bit of a Yahoo with some of my past comments but I really do want to thank you for your content on you tube. I probably wouldn't be able to get this kind of learning experience otherwise.
Nice kick off to "season 2" of the hook of the week! Thanks for keeping it going! I love the idea of making this series into a "Scrap bucket challenge" where you use scraps to make useful stuff. Inspirational stuff! thanks John!
Sweet! I like that one John! you make me wish I was younger and in better shape and could do little projects like this.. Oh I still have my good days.. But I just do not have the room, money or experience to know how to set it up.. At least I can come here and enjoy watching you.. you teach very well, at least I enjoy following you as you explain things.. Thank you John.. I can tell your a good man and I appreciate all of your hard work.. (it must be all of the great country air) Wishin' I was back in the mountains.. take care, carry on and be safe!
I’m just starting out and these hook of the week videos always teach me something I know I’ll use. That square punch trick with the rivet was great! Thanks for sharing your immense knowledge of this art.
Awesome. Really liking this trammel hook. Thanks John! I may have to try this out tomorrow. Been looking for an interesting new project to try which has multiple components. So far I've not really done much that uses multiple pieces in the one item. Hope you're well & thanks again for all your content!
Very interesting tool. Bravo to whoever first designed it. Thank you for showing us the method to make and adjust. It is something we both anticipate every Sunday morning
I sense a correlation between the scrap steel outside and increasingly complex hooks! The old bucket was too easy! Hope the trend continues, and again, thanks for all the helpful ideas and techniques.
Bravo! Lovely how this beautiful, smooth & classic tool came from cut offs. Maybe your series should be "cut offs of the week." Super useful to see all the techniques you employ & with your commentary adding the nuance as to why. Thank you for sharing!
I made my first hook today! I’m going to clip it over the top of my apron that I use for work and it’ll dip below my name tag and act as a spot to put a scraping tool that I don’t want in my pocket. Thank you for the motivation with your Hook of the Week series, I appreciate it(:
Great project, and glad you keep the series going. I can't wait to see more like this where you chose a project, then looked for materials. Keep up the awesome content! 👍 👍
That hook has as much foreign as a pair of tongs so we got the best of both videos .thanks John really appreciate the hook of the week videos look forward to next weeks.
Huraw for the Hook of the Weel series, Keep it up John! I'm looking for ideas for building a very Large, heavy, functional Adjustable Trammer Hook setup in my Tire Hating Furnace I'm planning on building to Arrest Sparks and Contain Heat. for Tires from 18 " inch up to 50 something Wagon Wheel Tires. A Trammel may fit the Bill. Once I accomplish this, I may build one at the Pioner Town in Cedaredge.
Hook of the week, hook of the week YYAAAAAA! Haha. I know you've done many Frederic crosses. But maybe it would be a good base for a hook rack. Maybe big enough for tackle like bits and leed rope and such in a loafing shed/barn or if its smaller a key chain umbrella and hat and coat. For more of a dont leave home without hanger

Glad you're enjoying the series
of the 75 channels I subscribe to Black Bear forge and specifically the hook of the week are always at the top of my queue.
I like the idea that every Sunday is a little project from scrap stuff. Everybody accumulates scrap and most don't know what to do with it
When I get my forge up and running, I'll have alot of small things to make Thanks to Mr John! Thanks again 😇
Hook of the Week videos forever!
I still go back to “hook of the week” for inspiration and learning. Thanks John😎🧙🏻♂️
Awesome project, I love how you did this all with hand tools. Thank you
..Just as sure as the Sun rises and sets, the "Hook of the Week" continues. i for one am glad, Thank You Mr. John...!!!
Thanks for sharing. I like how you give the pros and cons of the design at the end of each of your videos.
I really appreciate the hook of the week videos, as I'm a beginner in smithing and these videos show some great simple techniques
100% behind the beginner's projects of the week :)
Awesome idea. I look forward to these every Sunday morning. Please keep going.
Hook of the week, I really enjoyed.

I will certainly keep doing hooks. But I have to admit the more advanced hooks really add to the production and editing time
That’s a definite downside, I guess go sparingly with them then :)
Sunday morning routine.... Coffee, walk the dogs, HOOK OF THE WEEK. I'd be lost without it. Not too long, not to short. And extremely interesting. Keep up the good work Sir.
Love hook of the week. Thank you from a beginner.
I worked on the trammel hook with you at last year's conference. Good to see another one.
You have not made a bad or boring video yet.

Very timely. Last night I was Googling trammel hook designs. With this one I have at least five.
I am glad I could be of service.

Glad hook stay... i realy like this one. Hooks can be just as advanced as other things.
I like the hook of the week. Truth is that I can be a little unimaginative in my projects so seeing all the different designs helps with that for me. Your a good man . love your show . Keep it up . Love your hook of the week
As a first timer I appreciate the simplicity of the tool and talking through the approach . Thank you for your teaching.
I sense a correlation between the scrap steel outside and increasingly complex hooks! The old bucket was too easy! Hope the trend continues, and again, thanks for all the helpful ideas and techniques.
Mostly I can't think of more simple hooks that aren't just another version of what I have done before
Bravo! Lovely how this beautiful, smooth & classic tool came from cut offs. Maybe your series should be "cut offs of the week." Super useful to see all the techniques you employ & with your commentary adding the nuance as to why. Thank you for sharing!

Neat project. I enjoyed the video very much.
I love hook of the week
Hook of the week, hook of the week YYAAAAAA! Haha. I know you've done many Frederic crosses. But maybe it would be a good base for a hook rack. Maybe big enough for tackle like bits and leed rope and such in a loafing shed/barn or if its smaller a key chain umbrella and hat and coat. For more of a dont leave home without hanger
