Well, this week's video sure is a special one! Scuba diving with sea lions has been on my bucket list for AGES. Luckily, my dream came true last weekend at in Nanoose Bay. We had an amazing sea lion encounter! There's a colony of sea lions that hang out in that area during the winter months, so we were hoping we'd get lucky. Sure enough, a few steller sea lions were curious enough to come over and check us out. Couldn't have happened on a better day ♥. This is definitely one of my favourite and best dives on Vancouver Island. We saw many other interesting creatures, including sea stars, rockfish, lingcods, nudibranchs and more. Enjoy!

Whenever I see a Steller's underwater, I'm blown away by the force they get out of those flippers. They're unbelievably strong and fast. Good thing they're (usually) friendly!
Aren't they just amazing? I'm so fascinated by their bodies and how graceful they are. This was a really special moment for me. I had always wanted to see one underwater! hoping to see more one day ☺.

How much is the cost for scubadiving for first timers?
Hello Gayle! Very exciting that you're considering scuba diving. I am certified through PADI (there are a few different reputable organizations), and they offer the Open Water scuba certification which is the one you would need to start diving. The cost of this course thoroughly depends on where you are located in the world as the price can vary a bit. However, on average in Canada to become fully certified, I believe the cost ranges from between $500.00- $600.00. Whereabouts are you located?
