My personal favorite ODST track.
This is unsurprisingly the longest track in the ODST campaign. The Firefight track adds up to a longer time but I consider that more of a bonus track.

I'm glad this ran on the Halo 3 engine, it just felt right
I wouldn't mind all of games being on it because in game assets like ships and skyboxes made it feel like halo.
The Senate Halo 3 was the most beautiful/has the best art style of Halo IMO

Who cares exactly?
This last mission is awesome and terrifying both from gameplay and lore perspective. You've "completed" your objective of finding your squad and rescuing Dare and Vergil but everything outside of you is going to hell, this isn't some random city in some backwater planet getting glassed.
This is New Mombasa, Africa...a city on Earth...our homeworld.
Mere hours ago the UNSC had kicked out Regret's fleet out of orbit or flat out destroyed it, and ODPs were still operational and the fleet remotely intact...barely a days passes and everything has fallen, the ODPs have been destroyed...the UNSC Home fleet is gone.....the Master Chief is nowhere to be seen and the Covenant fleet is now swarming all around you glassing the city you're in. You might be absolutely destroying Covenant Infantry on your own in a Scorpion on that lone highway...but you're on your own, everyone is either dead or fleeing. Entire armies....entire fleets....hell, entire planets tried and failed to stop them....and now they're here...on Earth.
It's terrifying....that if the Covenant had instead targeted other cities rather than focusing all their efforts on uncovering the Portal...Humanity might have lost the War.....the Master Chief would have arrived to an already burnt Earth with no resistance left and with only a few Covie ships
on orbit....way before the Elites arrived to assist...in a twisted way the Covenant's obession with reaching the Ark saved us, just the way that Hitl3r's obsession with taking Stalingrad costed him (arguably) the war and allowed the Soviets to reorganize and push his armies back.
Stuff like that really makes you think how close we were to extinction in the Halo Universe...it was a civil war and the Flood that took down the Covenant... _NOT US_
You're kinda overblowing but not completely the matter. Both UNSC Home Fleet and bulk of ODPs were operational for weeks after events of Halo ODST, and while losing, they were inclicting as well enormous losses on Covenant. Truth threw at Earth in total hundreds of capital ships, by the time of Halo 3 only few dozens were operational, while UNSC still had few left for push towards Portal. Obsession with Ark therefore didn't save humanity, it was instead Truth and Mercy greed for power which led to Great Schism. Finally, both Hitler obsession with taking Stalingrad and it leading to losing of the war are myths.

@@kaijuking5971 Any reasonable and not sensationalist book or document regarding that specific topic would suffice. Stalingrad was mere byproduct of actual Hitler goal, oil of Caucasus which was supposed to give him victory. Stalingrad city wasn't even brought up when grand offensive for that oil was planned and launch. Offensive alone which failure in first stage of destroying Soviet local forces, already doomed it's next stages. Battle of Stalingrad alone didn't settle Axis lose, that was happened already before.
@@ReichLife Stalingrad is still traditionally considered to be the place where the seemingly-unstoppable _Wehrmacht_ finally _broke._ Almost nobody on the Allied side knew at the time that Nazi Germany's armed forces were on deeply shaky foundations (at best) and they seemed to be always ready for another go. It was from this battle that everyone got the point that the Soviets were not going to break and instead would not stop until Berlin burned.
@@jimmyseaver3647 Quite questionable. Moscow campaign from previous year already showcased German shortcomings and Soviets strength. On another hand, despite Stalingrad Germans were still able to inflict major blow to Soviets during Third Battle of Kharkov and managed to launch major summer offensive at Kursk.
In short, Moscow broke Wehrmacht invincibility myth, while Kursk settled the trend on Eastern Front for remaining two years. Stalingrad in contrast lacks any of such major strategic turns.
Those covenant Battlecruiser flybys with their distinctive sound always left me in awe.
THANK YOU, thats by far my most favourite part of the mission, it gives a sense of absolute hopelessness :D

@@NotKameron Rookie missed that gay shit so hard he Practically died to ensure it wouldn't happen. Buck got Traumatized from it however; Rookie saved the entire Squad if I remember correctly from the Canon material.
the last part of the level was so intense, but so was the ending. Damn, I miss this game, many people didn't like it but real Halo fans appreciated it a lot.
Almost everyone I've ever talked to that played it loved the game. The problem is a lot of people have never given the game a chance and tried it.

Like me, the 1st time i played this game was from a cousing that have it, and i always was trying to find this game even if it passed 5 years since then, and finally was able to play it countless times and i got to say it, it's a full Masterpiece, players and non-fans should play this game =)
i mean i like all the halo games, odst is really good but its too small not a lot of people dont have this game, not even on MCC
We got a real sense of humanity on the losing side of the war, much like how combat evolved felt like one man against the whole alien army. (Great game that deserved better, could see extra levels in it too.)
I think 'From Bones' is my favorite part of this one. Rookie finally seeing daylight. It fits very well.

I love the morning section of New Mombasa. It's my favorite part as well, always gives me chills :)
The best part was watching the covenant ship burn the city and you couldn't do a damn thing about it.

Too bad that at the end of halo 3 odst, we didn't have what six had at the end of halo reach. A mac gun to stop covanent ships
It really put scale of fighting an enemy they couldn’t truly defeat conventionally. (Really got vibes of halo 1 in this game, of fighting a massive army.)
The hints of jazz telling us the quiet night sequence is over is really neat.
Right when 12:14 hits you know the urgency in the music. There’s only two things now drive and survive. But when 17:35 hits you know the only objective is to survive.

The music fits so perfectly at the end. Your last stand needs awesome music. Making an intense legendary play through even more gratifying.

I liked that. Challenging players to unlock things. And when you unlock it, it shows a lot about you. “Damn this guys completed this on Legendary”
It’s a shame games don’t do this as often anymore
My favourite parts of this are the small bits of jazz you hear left over showing transition away from the night part of the game.

Rock Anthem for Saving the World play in Coastal Highway too, exactly when a player is near the Mangooses and Rocket Launchers who spawn to help players cross the highway and protect the Oliphant.
The sad part is the fact the music don't last long instead of playing until players reach the end of the highway.
According to Halo Nation (Trivia in Coastal Highway) :
If you enter the first off-ramp before driving the Warthog, the song Rock Anthem for Saving the World from Halo: Combat Evolved will play.

17:50 Hearing this while reading Halo Bad Blood was one of the best experiences I had in any media, ODST was always my favorite Halo game, i'm really glad that the essence of this game and characters were perfectly executed in the books.

spartan123 halo This was honesty the easiest Halo game on Legendary. ODSTs have more health than Spartans which make no sense. You get shredded in Halo 2 and 3, but it felt like you can eat bullets on Legendary in this game.
Try the vidmaster challenge. Then you will know what hard is.
That jazz in the beginning tho!
The last part reminds me of “Earth City” from Halo 2.

5:49, 7:55, and 12:37 are my favourite parts in my honest opinion. Intense. Try listening in 0.75x speed. Sounds kinda good too!

I've always wished that the final holdout section lasted just a bit longer, so I could keep kicking droves of alien ass to easily the greatest fucking music O'Donnell and Salvatori ever recorded.

ODST is probably my least favorite [Bungie] Halo, though the music is freaking good. I have to say Halo 3 is the winner out of all of the Bungie releases of the Halo series.

+MrGullisYT Here is a story, here is an engine, you got a year. Go make a game. What do you expect? If they had more time like the other halo games it would have been a long one.
Nathan Cameron Time is never right. Ideas shorten and lengthen time in production. For example, You want to add armor upgrades you can find around the city. Designing a model, the code, seeding locations, and all that take time. Lets say it would take five months to do so. Now if you don't do that the game is out five months sooner.

This would be a good level for Elites fighting Brutes and u have to escape New Mombasa in the midst of Covenant Civil War with Elites and Brutes trying to kill u while also killing each other

ben kenobi Plot was underwhelming compared to the expectations that the hype and viral marketing built but Buck was a welcome addition to the Osiris missions and the multiplayer/forge is top notch in my opinion.
