Helped me so much. The nebula was rebooting after 15 minutes on. I disassembled every parts and cleaned everything, remplaced and added lots of thermalpads. After this it works again great. Your video is a treasure. The nebula capsule 2 is very very well made.
i used to work for a representative of anker "repairing" these things. i use quotes because i never had to actually repair those, we had little replacement parts (not like we received many of those to repair), so we usually ended up shipping a new unit instead. dunno if you figured it out after, but before sliding the metal mesh you are supposed to take out the lens cover by heating it with hot air and pulling it (a suction cup can help) to discover some screws and take the whole piece off. the metal mesh slides off very easily after that.
Nice teardown. Helped me a lot, mine had had almost identical problem. Found that blue connector wasn't plugged in correctly and two pins was bended :)
Thanks for a great teardown video! For the glass over the lens, I would guess it could be removed like the glass back of cellphones. Applying heat with a heat gun, then prying out with a suctioncup might do it.
From what I could tell, no. Even as far as I tore it down, if I went further I probably would have destroyed the lamp assembly to get into it. It is not designed to be replaced that’s 100% certain.
my brand new capsule II got tipped over and now the USB-C power port is loose and wont charge. do you think its fairly easy to fix...maybe just clean and resolder that connector is fairly simple?
Well, for the skilled micro solderer it’s not that hard, but the pins are very small on a usb c connector. There could also be some trace damage as well that needs repairing since the port was ripped from the board from the fall. Since the charging and hdmi ports are on the bottom, access isn’t an issue as you can get to that board pretty easily, but the repair could be difficult if you don’t have the right tools (microscope, hot air rework station, etc) I wouldn’t recommend attempt the repair if you are not skilled in this area.
Hello! Since two days I have to problem with the capsule 1 that the cooling fan is not running, it's getting pretty hot and I think it will overheat sooner or later. Do you think it is possible to fix ?
I’m sure it can be fixed, but finding a replacement fan could be tricky to get the right size. I wouldn’t run it with no fan as it’s probably shortening the life of the LED lamp.
mine has the exact same problem, the powerlight and top lights are one but no light from the lens itself…Can I send it you and maybe work your magic on it? 😊
Sure! You can mail it to my repair business. Address it to Alpha Board Repair attention Austin Kalenda 3530 Makala Dr. Midlothian Texas 76065. Please send me a tracking number so I can keep an eye out for it. My cell is 817-773-5928.
I can give it a try, the issue very well could be the same problem I had, but there is a chance the led lamp has gone out as well. How many hours are on the unit? I run a repair business @ www.alphaboardrepair.com. You can mail it to me and I’ll see what I can do. There is no guarantee I can fix it because at this time you cannot get replacement parts for these models.
hello my friend! the issue of my nebula capsule 2 power on no display, i do the same thing like what you did but un fortunately no display also, what can you suggest just to help me fix it?
Did you check all connections? The lamp could have failed. How many hours roughly have you used the projector? Is there any light emitted from the lamp at all?
Hi, I have purchased a nebula capsule 2 on eBay. Everything looked perfect but not on. I plug it in and no light comes on. I have left it charging for a long time and nothing does not turn on any light. What should I do?
The charge port could be damaged. Make sure the charger and cord is working. Plug the usb c to another device and make sure it charges to rule out a bad cord or charger. I also do know if the battery is dead, these will not power on.
@@austin22re Thanks for the reply. I have tried with my charger of my macbook type c and it does not react either. It's strange because absolutely nothing happens. The projector was almost new, in fact I removed the plastics. I think the person who sold it to me didn't use it for a long time and maybe it got discharged and the battery cells dried up.
@@juancarlosv.5958 I can confirm if the battery is disconnected, it will not boot up at all. If you take it apart enough to get to the battery, check the battery voltage with a meter to see what it is. It is possible the battery is totally dead.
Hmm, i cannot either it seems. They must be proprietary. I figured for sure there would be battery replacements available but from what i read, Anker does not sell replacement batteries.
I didn’t see anything obvious inside. I was under the impression the microphone is in the remote. All the circuit boards are packed deep inside the device I would think if a microphone was present on the capsule itself it would be mounted to the exterior of the device or near the grill, and I noticed no such thing.
@@buraotking11 press and hold the power button until the unit turns on, immediately press and hold the home button on the remote until the android recovery page appears. Then select wipe data/factory reset. Try that and report back.
@@buraotking11 there may be a hardware issue then, well it was worth a shot! I do not know of another way to manually flash the capsule if you cannot boot it up. I have not found a solution but this sounds like there is either dead internal storage or it is failing causing corruption to the os.
My nebula stopped autofocus and focus at all in manual mode. Have seen few other people had same issue. Basically I can throw it away...customer service not interested as it is past warranty. Used maybe 30h in total. Waste of money
They are absolutely not repair friendly. Also parts are near non existent. I would try to see why the auto focus quit. Most likely a mechanical failure I have seen on a few. Can be fixed but it’s DIY if you are crafty.

Yeah I noticed the screws behind the glass. I have since opened a few that way. It’s sad the lack of replacement parts available.
Saving it for later!😁 My Nebula suddenly stopped working! Thanks!
Thank you for the video, my projector fans was making too much noise I needed to clean it 👍
Nice tear down 👍
Wish someone can upgrade the internal memory

@@austin22re appreciate the reply! I tried it and you were right haha. The whole board is easy to replace if I could fine one
Does it have a wifi card inside, it would be really cool if you could mod it and add a m.2 with a converter
No, it is all soldered to the board.
