I am 71 now and remember going up with my Father and his friend to the roof of his workshop in Saville Row, Central London to watch this performance.
The Beatles Apple Office/Studio was at the end of the road, we would often see them coming and going. The whole street went up to rooftops, or were hanging out the windows, the road below became crowed quite quickly and everyone stopped looking up. Unfortunately the police intervened and stopped the performance. My Father had the presence of mind to take a few black and white pictures, which l have had framed.......

After the White Album they could have taken six months off to recuperate, instead they get the idea in their heads to record fourteen brand new songs in like three weeks and then play them on television for a live audience. That's a sign of their absence of management. Paul could lead them musically but not also double as manager. And Klein was poison from the start.

the beatles are the greatest popular music band of all time & paved the way for the 'british invasion' to america, while there success spawned the way for many other bands to emerge & to become more experimental!!
mozart didn't have you tube in his day but classical music is still not deemed as being commercial!

Grew up with the Beatles..I was 7 when the hit the states..Even at the age of 7 I felt the earth move from under me..That was the influence they had over here..That was Feb. of '64..In Nov. of '63 president Kennedy was assassinated..They came to this country at the exact moment we needed here..And then, on top of that, they turned out to be no flash in the pan..They just kept getting better and better, with every album..They produced 13 albums in 6 short years!..They wrote over 200 songs in that time! Pretty much not a dog in the bunch!..Even their crap (mostly) had something special about it..And because of them, everybody else brought their A game. It was a phenomenal time for music!..Much success to your channel, and enjoy the ride!..PS. I'm a male, and yes!..Bring back the romance!

This band is the GOAT! They were popular from late 1963 and broke up in 1970. They had 21 Number 1 hits, and 34 more songs reached the Top 10 on the charts, and get this…71 more reached the Top 40 on the charts in constant radio rotation.
The BeeGees were inspired by The Beatles! It’s the reason they started performing! And really, hundreds of bands were inspired by the Beatles coming on the scene in 1963. They changed music as we know it, and they created the first music video, they created Progressive rock, and the first Metal rock music, the first Punk rock music. They were hugely creative. All 4 members of this band could sing lead. 3 out of 4 were songwriters, and the 4th became a songwriter, too! So every song is different. Every album they recorded was better than the last. They recorded 14 albums and also did several feature films. All 4 went on to have very successful solo careers after the Beatles broke up. And they were offered MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to get back together, for just one concert…and then for just one song…PLEASE! Unfortunately, John Lennon who sang lead on this song was shot and killed by a deranged fan outside his New York City apartment in 1980. The entire WORLD was in mourning…it was a tragic loss! John had put this band together when they were all teens. The footage that you saw was the last live concert they ever did! They had their own recording label, called Apple Corps In London. They performed this concert on the rooftop of their studio! It literally stopped traffic on the street! 2 of the Beatles have passed on…John and George. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are in their 80’s and still recording and touring. They have both been knighted by Queen Elizabeth. And they just put out the Beatles very last song that all 4 worked on with a music video, called Now and Then. It hit the charts….no surprise!

Awesome reaction! The Beatles are much more than some great, influential band from the past. To this very day, The Beatles are the biggest selling music artist of all time, and nobody else even comes close (Do a quick google search and you'll see what I'm taking about). They have the most #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 (with 20 #1 hits) and 35 overall top 10 hits, with their last song, "Now and Then" (which was just released 4 months ago on November 2, 2023) debuting at #7 on the billboard Hot 100, and peaking at #1 on the UK Spotify charts, knocking Taylor Swift down to the #2 position . You should definitely go down this rabbit hole and experience their greatness! They evolved quite a lot in the 8 years that they were a recording band, where they touched so many different styles and genres. I envy you, because I know the magic that is yet for you to discover. Enjoy the ride!

If you like love songs, the Beatles have some of the most memorable ones ever written.
If you like simple songs with a repetitive chorus, the Beatles have oodles of them, each more perfectly formed than the last.
If you like anarchic, riotous songs with no discernible repeat pattern, the Beatles pretty much invented this form, and have quite a few mind-boggling examples.
If you like gentle and sensitive songs, the Beatles have them, too, ready to soothe your soul.
If you like songs that celebrate the ineffable wonder of the Universe and Nature, the Beatles can provide them.
If you want ground-breaking psychedelia, hard rock, story songs about ordinary people and places, 60s beat music, pop, rock n roll, introspective songs, rhythm n blues, insane roof-lifting screamers, sentimental musings/ cosy trips down memory lane, wild avant garde musical experimentation, deep Eastern mysticism, 'nonsense' songs that may or may not mean something important, comedy/ satire, songs about dogs, circus/ carnival themes, or songs about bus trips, the Beatles have it all.
If you'd like recommendations in any of those categories, I'm sure your audience here will be happy to oblige...
    Enjoy your Beatles journey!

But it's amazing to watch people fall in love with the beatles, which again is from my childhood but as a musician and a musicologist of sorts which by the way was the name of the final Prince album before he moved on, and somehow this music is Reaching Across decades and generations. It's strange to see but I love it. And you guys seem so cool, I wouldn't be surprised if you were sisters because y'all are peas in a pot it seems to me.

This footage was from a concert The Beatles gave on the roof of their Apple Records Studios in downtown London, in the middle of the day, much to the consternation of the folks in the neighborhood. Hence the presence of the Bobbies. As it turned out, this was the final, last, public performance by the boys. And since John Lennon was murdered in December of 1980 and George Harrison passed from cancer in the early 2000's, there will be no reunion, except in heaven.

There has to be a first time listening to the Beatles for everyone. I'm so old I simply can't remember when I haven't heard the Beatles. But I was born in 1965 so chances are there's never been a moment in my life when I did not know the Beatles. My first time hearing them would have been in the womb. Fun fact: the week that I was born, "Help!" was the number one single in Australia (I'm Aussie).

Great choice. This was an unrehearsed, unscheduled last ever live performance on the roof of their recording company in London. The police stopped it and after this, they no longer toured as the Girls screamed so much that they could not hear each other o the stage. When they turned up in Adelaide, Australia over 500,000 greeted them at The Airport and on the 7-mile route back to their hotel/ They were the first to play to NONsegregated USA audiences and performed the first ever outside LIVE show in New York in front of 55,000.
They recorded 230 songs, nearly all different. ENJOY:)

When watching them even at the age of six, I knew I was witnessing something incredible. My life was literally never the same again after seeing them. They were that great. And, they still are to this day. They had no equal then, or still none to this day!❤

The keystone of all popular music for the last 60 years. The Betales were exploring pure pop, rock’n‘roll, ska, RNB, country, lounge, hard rock, proto metal, psychedelia, space, raga, blues, art rock, baroque pop, noise rock ... and invented a lot of sub genres on the way. While writing songs for the eternity. PS: The late Billy Preston, a soul man from the US, was playing the magnificent Rhodes piano here. Sadly not very present in the video. Preston was a close friend of the band and almost became a fifth member for a while.

One of the beautiful things about the Beatles, is that you could take any part of any song in their catalog and find an entire genre of music depending on which part you're keen on. This is a good way to connect to the people two or three generations before you. If you like the love of love and relationship stories, may I suggest 'Nights in white satin' by the Moody Blues. It was around the same time. Slower tempo, full orchestra backing, and hauntingly beautiful. Backstory is about a recently failed relationship. One that went on long enough for her to buy satin sheets, and by what the singer is expressing, quite a while after that, at least in his heart. Keep in mind there were no cell phones, internet, 3 channels on TV and 4-5 radio stations total, if you were lucky. But you could play one of these albums and be positively transported. Keep it up! You're doing great.

You’ll see how people are hearing music but they don’t know where it’s coming from and discover it’s 4-5 stories up and then the street gets packed. The movie is “Let It Be”, like their album. Now you know why this band is the greatest ever! Check out their “Long and Winding Road”, “Something”, “ Imagine”, “Nowhere Man”….. SanJoséBob

“Don’t Let Me Down” is a heartfelt song by John Lennon, recorded during the Let It Be sessions in 1969. It was written as an anguished love song to Yoko Ono. Lennon’s lyrics express his feelings for Yoko Ono just letting his vulnerability be seen, so you must not let me down.
