We are very lucky that Rice has pretty much stayed injury free all season. Our season would’ve turned out very differently if we’d lost him and the home game against Spurs was a reminder of this. It’s important that we bring in another top midfielder to relieve the pressure of him. Partey is not reliable and Jorginho’s legs are going.

I’m not sure Havertz can be so easily removed from the first XI. Arteta speaks on him so often it seems and he looks to be coming along as one of our most impactful players in 2024. He’s also among the highest earners at the club.
Let’s be honest, James, no one knows what Arteta has planned for us. And that’s the idea; to keep teams guessing as much as possible. But one thing I will say is that he will already have yet another tactic ready for us, and ahead of the pack where tactics can be switched at anytime during a given game.

That's what I thought too, so he shouldn't be a threat to Ben White's starting place.
He played RB a lot in pre-season... White started the campaign at CB over Gabriel... there's no guarantee where Timber plays, reality it's likely in both positions
Arsenal defence will be pefect with Timber as LB and White RB, White combine very well with Saka

@@TheGoonerverse Gabriel was getting transfer offers and wasn't sure about whether or not he wanted to leave is why he was benched at the start, I don't think it's conceivable that White gets benched when the left side is the one that needs all the work

It’ll be interesting to see if he plays tomorrow now that Arteta has confirmed he’s in the first team. If he does play him, it feels like he may even make an appearance in the United game and/or the Everton game. Part of me thinks that playing him will make it harder for opposing teams to predict a plan against us, but it also may seem a bit too new for the last three games of the season. He’ll transform our back line for better though, that’s for sure.

Clearly LB is our most crucial improvement area.
And for bringing in cm/cdm in to our team is difficult, because of the standard level of our midfielders, if we keep Jorginho/Partey next season it is gonna demand getting in someone at the level of rice.
Tricky area to improve, and would demand alot of money invested.
I would rather consentrate on getting in a backup nr 10 as i am not sure Smith Rowe will be good enough backup if Ødegaard gets injured.
Winger is another area we should invest in as Saka and Martinelli is very fragile in terms of getting alot of knocks throughout the season.
And a number 9 we could also improve alot in.
So for me :
First choice Leftback must buy.
CDM/CM: only if right player available
Backup CAM: important
Backup Winger: must buy.

I don't understand why people keep trying to push Ben White out of the first 11. He's been our best player this season and probably the best RB in the league

The more i think of it the more these guys would replace the need for a Kiwior Tomiyasu and Zinny at LB
To be honest I feel like arteta brought timber in as more of an insurance policy for zinchenko’s deficiencies. Hence why we saw timber play a lot of pre season at left back. Hence why he’s played for the under 21’s at left back recently and also why he started the season against forest at left back with Gabriel missing out, Partey inverting from right back and white at centre back.. i think that’s probably where he see’s him but you’re right, the flexibility he brings is so interesting. I think timbers got that much quality he probably forces his way in, it’s just unfortunate that someone will have to miss out so it’s a real conundrum we’ve got on our hands next season.. I’ll feel so sorry for white if he gets dropped
Thomas Partey being unavailable costs us 2 titles. We lost the midfield battle again Villa (and the title) because of TP being unfit. It is so dissapointing how Arteta/Arsenal dealt with this issue.

Partey and timber have a unique profile in all arsenal squad and not available on the market to replace especially partey i hope he stays one more season in arsenal and we able to see a rice partey odegard a little bit more. I share your opinion. With how the team evolving, I just hope Partey gets another season as I had hoped we kept Xhaka. Now he's a Bundesliga winner.
A new striker needs to have a different profile from anyone we have now: pace, power and a high chance conversion rate. We need a different option and someone who can take that one chance we get in a tight game and who doesn't focus on assists and creating space. They don't have to score 30 goals a season.

I agree that Arteta's apparent stratergy of seasonal evolution, should naturally see next season show at the very least a small improvement upon this term, simply by having the fit and available Partey, Timber, Vieira and Smith-Rowe.
Flexibility of approach and a studious, almost chameleon like propensity to change has ensured we've seen significant alterations to the team each and every season.
Based more on the fact that Arteta clearly understands how to construct and develop a defensive line that operates efficiently and effectively, I'd like to see him revisit the 3-4-3 formation again that was the foundation of our F.A. Cup win.
Links to the likes of Diomande at Sporting Lisbon gives me some hope of that actually coming to fruition, as another high quality central defender slotted in-between Saliba and Magalhaes (funnily enough, another candidate who I think would suit that exact scenario is Mickey Van Der Ven) with any two from Rice, Partey and Timber anchoring the base of our midfield in front of them suggests a rather formidable rearguard set-up, whilst reinstating a large slice of the passing ability (Vieira, Smith-Rowe, Havertz, A N Other) and guile going forward that we lost with Xhaka's departure, and give Odegaard the midfield sidekick directly behind the front three to help elevate his own creative and goalscoring game to yet another level.
Agree a fully fit squad will be a significant upgrade but it’s all too likely there’ll be more injuries next season and are we really relying on Thomas ‘Mr Glass’ Partey staying fit?
The Partey lovefest is nauseating. He’s never lasted a full season without injuries and this is not going to change.

As far as a midfielder goes maybe getting a de jong type player who can play as more of a facilitator from deep which might help to keep Odegaard higher up the pitch would be part of the plans going forward

Everyone seems to want Havertz out of the team but Arsenal's biggest problem is the left side. Martinelli isn't clinical enough and Trossard doesn't have the pace. Both are squad players and nothing more.
martinelli is having a hard season . trossard is also good. they just need more support from us fans
Martinelli had zinchenko playing well enough last year on the left for support, Martinelli this year has been just running to cover and going for a counter. I think with timber there it gives us god option on both sides to invert and open him up again.

Seems to be devaluing what white brings to the squad, while at the same time heaping tonnes of expectation on timber as a lb, rb, overlap and attacking fb. Maybe let him get a few more games under his belt before betting your house on him
I say a lot in this vid that none of this is to devalue White and that they can be used together in many different ways
In the summer, we'll get a 25 goal a season 9, a 6/8 midfielder, and a backup keeper. Arteta wont get a rw because jesus and or havertz would cover there

Timber is the new left back. Arsenal didn't just sign him to sit on the bench behind Ben white.
If you played Timber as RB, it showed that you had no idea what you're talking about. That's all he has been playing in training and U21

If I had a voice in transfers and moving forward, we definitely need to focus on a backup RW, striker, possibly more help in the middle if Partey leaves
Timber will play as a lb that will both invert and play wingback at times. If Teta goes with what you are saying (and thats a real possibility mostly driven by havertz in 9) Havertz will drop in to make a box midfield while nelli then will act more as a striker when that happens, with timber holding the width as wingback. Although this works, and can be utilized in certain cases (teta used this vs city in community shield), there is one issue with this, its too defensive. You will essentially be playing with 4 cbs and two dms, and no real striker, it does work bc havertz is a false 9 but still i d rather have a proper left 8 there so the creativity burden in the final third doesn't fall on just odegaard. Havertz can be creative but playing through balls into penalty area is not his thing. Essentially, you can think of it this way, instead of playing with no real striker, two double pivot dms and one odegaard and 4 cbs, i d rather play with 1 false 9, 1 dm, 1 odegaard and an 8, it's just better balance btw attack and defense, and the interchanges btw front 5 will be good. So i d rather buy an 8 that can invert into a 10, like gundogan or tony kroos, fabregas, etc. With jorginho and partey already in the team, doesnt make sense to buy an 6. On top of that, if odegaard gets injured, who will replace him, you can scramble something but it wont be good. On odegaard being 8 or 10, it's simple, he is not an 8 bc he is not good enough defensively to be a proper 8 (and he shouldn't be as he does so much up front), so this 10 inverting into 8 works well for him.

Very good analysis. I am afraid, Arteta will not go for the CF we need. Havertz has come into his own upfront. But whether he will be elite is a big question and I dont want us to wait to find that out if we want to win trophies.
We need a top CF and a winger who are full of goals. Personalities who stand up and be counted in the most difficult fixtures and steal goals when we are under pressure. Also hopefully someone who knows the art of the free kick which we seriously suck at. We have a lot of good players upfront but apart from Saka, none of them is great.
Also we need to offload Partey only because of his susceptibility to injury and find a more reliable CDM. This was the season that Martinelli was supposed to grow up but he has been thrown off by injuries. I hope he does it next season.
I think the plan this season was to play with a diamond midfield in a 3-1-2-1-3 set-up , with Partey inverting from RB to DM as seen in the last game of last season (vs Wolves) and the first 3 games this season.
if Partey doesnt have the engine to cut it,then Gabriel will be reintroduced to the XI and Timber will invert to DM from LB.
In that early set-up Havertz was at the tip of the diamond.
For next season, we will be get some idea about it in the final game against Everton and in some of the recruitment.
However, I highly doubt that Havertz will be relegated to the bench. Arteta will still find a spot for him in midfield during build-up because the plan is ultimately to overload opponents in attack in such a way that they are forced to come out and play.
White might get the Ramsdale treatment because his offensive play isnt exactly TAA-level and defensively, he is susceptible to being beaten in 1v1, especially with his style of shadow-marking all the way into the box.
Nah it's 4 at the back with two inverting capable fullbacks was always the plan, with both being capable of going forward and good on the ball. Zinchenko was seen as the LB and Timber was to replace White as a more natural RB.

The left side has been our weakness this season.
We still haven’t replaced XHAKA. Martinelli has been off form and our left back has been a 6/10 no matter who plays there.
Trossard scores but sometimes he has missing games.
Havert’s has done a brilliant job of being a dangerous outlet in Jesus absence.
Saka often also has stinkers but he plays best when Partey is on the field.
Which brings me to Partey. The chemistry he has with Martinelli, Saka and Oleguaard is VITAL to our success going forward. We should resign him.
He’s already 30 and is probably going to be even more injury prone. Chemistry doesn’t matter if you’re in the training room 75% of the time. Sell him while we can get decent money for him. Sign another young DM.
White is a freak and he’s not getting displaced in this team. Timber may well be the LB next year but I expect us to go big for another defender, L8 and Winger/striker.

Basically we want to be the total opposite to Sp**s - The fielded team can change and move to react and out manoeuvre the team we are facing; not just sticking to one lineup and getting found out. It's so exciting to see how far this team can go over the next few seasons!!!!
We need to buy Diomande, Bruno Gumeires, Dusan Vlahovic and Rodrygo. Sell Nketiah, Gabriel Jesus, El nenny, Zinchenko. Loan Viera and use ESR more
Yeah that's not going to happen this is not fifa, to buy all them players you mentioned you are looking at 100 Mill for Bruno 50 for diomande, atleast 70 for vlahovic and atleast 100 Mill for Rodrygo who is not going to leave Madrid, all great players and all would fit nicely but just not realistic at all
I would've preferred Joginho and El Neny leave, allow Partey to stay one more year and get a young dynamic midfielder with pace, physically strong and a good passer of the ball to replace Partey eventually.

I really want arsenal to sign osimhen or some elite striker. Gyokeres is a big risk and for 100 mil they should go for either osimhen or martinez from inter just my opinion.

Your chart around 10:30 is misleading. You should re-run that using the 9 games Havertz has started at CF and see what distribution looks like.
With all due respect I disagree… because yes, his output would be greater if up front more often but I’m just making the point that Arteta’s used his squad to ensure everyone contributes. He chose to play Havertz in midfield
@@TheGoonerverse I kind of get it, but you use that chart to then transition into a what if you get a 20-30 goal scorer who takes the load off Odegaard. Your chart is factually correct over the course of the season but not representative of what Arsenal have, for the most part, settled into since February when Havertz took over for an injured Jesus. It would've just been nice to see if that still supported your narrative (which could still hold true, btw).

For 2 years we say the same thing, but at the last few meters we lose the title. For God sake. When we are going to put our hand on the triphy lads? Come on, We need to grabe it so hard.
Next season?
A new signing (or two) will get injured. Customary for Arsenal since Wenger was in charge.
A decision or two will go against them early in the season.
And they start dropping points here there everywhere.
