I found out decades ago that if you JUST listen to music but do not watch movies at all then a SEALED subwoofer is what you want. Sealed subwoofers "if done correctly" are usually superior when it comes to playing JUST music. If you want a home theater sub but NEVER listen to music then a ported sub is what you want.. If you want the best of BOTH worlds go for a HSU ported sub. HSU subs are the perfect 50/50 sub. They have articulate bass for music, but also hit hard and dig deep for watching movies. I personally do not like the SVS subs for music, even the sealed ones for some reason. But their strength lies on being dedicated HT subs. The HSU VTF 15 MK 2 is a beast and can rip a hole into the majority of the SVS subs! You would have to move up to the PB 4000 to best it...but then you could get two VTF-15H MK2's for the price of just one PB- 4000 which would best the 4000 plus give you not only superior 50/50 bass but also a smother bass response.
