best fucking band of all time i grew up listening to new grass, i can listen to these guys all day not lying!!! i love me some new grass pure talent right here
This performance was from an Austin City Limits show. The song was written by Pat Flynn, the guitaris, and was the sixth track on a 1986 Capitol/EMI cd.
RUuser, you're correct, this video is from Austin City Limits' 1984 season. I have the Austin City Limits book which has information on how the show came about and the seasons from 1976 thru 1986, complete with photos of the performers. I have loved New Grass Revival since I first heard them in the late 80s. I miss them! So glad that I found these videos on UA-cam!!!
I always liked Sam's mandolin magic but never realized how good he was on fiddle. Pat does a great job on this song and of course is an awesome guitar picker. NGR is a great, great band.
Oh yes. My fault -- I spoke poorly... I knew of their songs but I meant I needed to sit down and really *analyze* what they did, to see if they did anything new or cutting edge in terms of the notes, chords, meter, and so on. Sometimes these songs sound innovative but they are simply re-arranged tricks from other songs But one could hardly argue as to their success and popularity -- on that front they were a great band, no doubt. best regards, pat
I need to investigate Queen -- I know little about them. They were in the subsequent generation of "my" musicians (Hendrix, Cream, Led Zeppelin, and so on.)
Ever heard "Another One Bites The Dust"? "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions?" "Don't Stop Me Now"? "Crazy Little Thing Called Love"? How about "Bohemian Rhapsody"? Yeah, all of those are Queen songs.

It must be so much fun to have as much talent as these guys do individually, but even more fun to perform with 3 other musicians of equal talent!
The greatest group of all time. What talent!
I love this band, they are genius, all of them
Such fantastic musicians! Just try to not move when you listen!

Wow! I never knew Pat sang lead on this song. I always thought it was Bush. Very good singer.
And an incredible guitarist

Very groovy newgrass - nice vocal, great playing, excellent harmonies, etc.
favorite song of all time. yeah i said it.
For real. I think NGR just came around about 20 years too early. This is good stuff compared to some of today's music
Pat Flynn - the George Harrison of Bluegrass!
..you mean Sam Bush.
Amazing Songwriter, singer and Master of the Mando. AND Fiddle !!

Best finish ever to a song!
What happens when you put four musical genuises together in a room? New Grass Revival. (Well, either that or one helluva fistfight.)
@2:37 favorite part

Dreams of a lost era!! I was fortunate to see them 3 times before they disbanded. ❤❤

What is funny is this reminds me of something Jackson Browne would write.
Two people are just probably hip hop fans
maximum, maybe never equalled again
1 person has never been close to anyone.
pop/bluegrass="new" grass. kool . . . don't hate
Lol at 4:15
Or, if they're British, Queen.
Well, three British, one Persian, but who cares?
