I have seen New Grass Revival many times first with the original members Sam Bush, John Cowan, Curtis Birch and Courtney Johnson. Later when Bela Fleck and Pat Flynn joined, I was also priviledge to have witness the magic the band created. My Favorite band of the 1970' and 1980's. These musicians have been truely blessed by the Creator. Arnold Clifford, Four Corners.
Remember the first time I heard this song, a live show at Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill, NC. My friends, Bobby and Beverly, had to convince me to come along. They said you won't believe how good these guys are. I was skeptical going in and came out an instant super fan determined to buy every album I could get my hands on. This is one of my all time favourite tunes
Thank you bluegrasslibrary. Your collection is a godsend. I used to catch NGR in Bostic,NC since '84. Have purchased almost everything in your library on record or tape but the live stuff is the best for me. The videos sure bring back memories, Thanks
It was this NGR ACL performance that got me as a 16 year old teen playing banjo. And it's still the music that this 40 year old aspires to. I lost my VHS tape years ago. Thanks so much for posting. Jim
@OysterLava Your right Oyster, I have seen this happen too. back in the eighties at little theaters everywhere. I guess they didn't pay attention to the name of the band. (NEWGRASS Revival.)
@OysterLava Unfortunately people get pedantic in just about every area of music. There are clawhammer people who get pissy if you dare throw in an upstroke (the horror!). Life's just too damn short, and music's for enjoying.
Playing an Irish tune perfectly. Brilliant. And then the switch to bluegrass. They don’t come any better than these guys.

Western Colorado here. Bet you saw them in Telluride.
Great musicians! Wish they would have a reunion!!!
One of the finest string bands ever assembled. Amazing technique!
It's fantastic how they segue from traditional Irish to bluegrass. Man, these guys were great together.

Two sad things about this post: only 237 likes. Also 1 dislike. What is wrong with that one person!!!?????
Amazing band.
NGR is the BEST!

@inconstantsorrow79 He was National Junior Champion Fiddler back in the late 1970's. I used to compete against him.
Sublime!
I'm wonderin' if the guitarist's lick at 3:05 is even possible to play
Totally awesome
Thats Pat Flynn.. on guitar.. NGR fan for life..
In short, the answer is "not by normal mortals."
at its center, its very scottish, thats what I like about these guys, they keep the core of traditional string music, but they push the envelope.
It’s an Irish tune
NGR rock. County Clare is in Ireland.

At 1:50, their heads bob in unison, lol. Great piece, though.
Bela fleck is a 5 string guru.
this looks like ACL
@inconstantsorrow79 I don't think he'd fit, lol.
this looks like austin city limits
