Thank you so much, that's the first time that my 9 yr old daughter has taken the time to watch a woodworking lesson demo. Inspirational!
I bought this as a gift for my friend ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxcZqgZ8Ynkiz5n_LxIWRlAicuzmz5kCHG who is just starting out in the world of wood work. He loves it!! There is a great section on different wood and what to use for what kind of job and a similar section for tools as well. The projects in it are things you probably would have a go at with clear instructions, pictures, videos and diagrams throughout. Great for a beginner/amateur wood worker.
this is an easy little project, why hate?, if you are a professional woodworker you should not be watching this video or just do it the way you think is right, its helpful for new owners of jigs, peace
Actually I come to some of these videos for ideas, for example I want to build a shelving unit for my front room, but want to put drawers in the bottom of it, and I run my own shop lol. Furniture is a bit different than building things like simple shelves :P
Fits well into my space, I painted the back green. It's very easy to customize just the back if that's something you want to do. I would suggest sanding it first before painting, I got a little impatient. The shelves ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxM8H4CjCb79vzeyvgaFMdzmLm88oVFPMkare pretty small so keep that in mind if you're going to have it horizontal that some books won't fit. I like the snug look that it has. Good small shelf if you don't have much space, but not too small. Simple to put together, though you'll need your own tools, a screwdriver and a mallet/hammer, it's easiest to do with another person.

Hi Anna ...you are undoubtedly fantastic ... what we need for basic learners is a list of equipment and their usage like how to make pocket hole etc., to understand your videoclips ...Thanks what u r doing for all
She uses a Kreg pocket hole jig, those things are essentially fool proof as long as you follow the manufacturer's directions. They are a bit pricey for drilling an angled hole but worth it in my opinion, I own one and I made one, the original works better than the one I made but they both do work. You just have to make sure all of the settings are correct and you use the right screws. What she doesn't show is you're supposed to glue those joints before you put the screws in.
Mind answering a question from a beginner? Although she uses a few jigs, she does a lot of work freehand (to a pencil layout) but the finish appears perfect. All the pieces are flush and square to each other. The 45 degree cuts mate perfectly, suggesting again that the assembly is perfectly square. Is it possible to achieve this freehand, or do you need more fixturing to make it as well as it is in this video?
+111Sylvester, if you make your cuts correctly, you will not need jigs. I freehand a lot of things and then during the "sanding to the line" process fix whatever angles I may have screwed up using say a speed square, a straight edge, and a few other essential items for woodworking. Everyone should have these tools on hand because measurements are important in all diy and woodworking projects.

Nice job! My wife has been asking for a few book shelves for each side of our large living room window. These excellnet plans and your vid will definitely help.
As for the wood, poplar select, about 30 per board, 1x12x8', may be a little costly.

Another beautiful project and great video. You always look so clean and fresh all the way through the videos -- ha! I end up looking like I've got a bad case of dandruff, along with the front of my clothes covered in grit and grime. This is definitely a keeper project. Thanks for the info on the shelf pin jig. What a time saver that would be.
yes the system comes with special jig, step drill bite and even special self taping screws, it cost around $100-140 and it is from Kreg, like all the blue stuff she has in her workshop, it is great time saver and great for beginners but bit pricey System is called Kreg Jig and the best is actually the older system kreg jig k3 master system
Nice job!! If mice are an issue at your house, I recommend elimination of legs or raising them high enough for vacuum, or cat to access. TFS 😊😊❤❤

Amazing! but not everyone has all those tools :/ but it is cheaper to buy them and make A LOT of bookshelves. i love them! i have like 5 in my room and i want more lol i love seeing my room organized, I think i will make this into a summer project with my dad. THANKS!

You are the Kreg jig girl!!! Nice work but watch out for the shelf pin jig after about 200 holes they seam to be of from side to side.
That drill has 2 gears and you are using the wrong one for the screws. The switch is the red thing at the top. Slow to screw and fast to drill.

Ana, this looks awesome. I have a question. Would you ever paint a project before you assemble it? Then just go back and touch up the nail heads. It seems easier to me to hit the nooks and crannies when everything is flat. BUT I'm definitely not a seasoned woodworker. Just looking for guidance.

hello this was my first time trying to make something like what you did..but the shelf is all whobbly. I have about 3 feet width and about 5 feet height. dont have anything in the center as yet..just the four sides with nails driven through straight not angled, but when i lifted the shelf its all whoobly..pls help thank you

It's wobbling because there is nothing in the center yet! You can always run a scrap piece of wood across the bottom to get rid of some of the wobble.
Just ran across your video...very nice work. Question: I noticed your work surface was able to accommodate the Kreg clamps along, what looked like, a sliding track. Is that the case? And if so, is that something that is sold or that you built?

You should have at least a 1/4" plywood for the back to help with keeping it more stable and not so wobbly. You can either mount it flush to the back or create a rabbit joint.
what paint do you recommend for this? interior latex of some sort or enamel or oil or? Love this design

So you only put shelf holes in the front section or did you not show where you turned the shelf over to put shelf holes in the back too?Without two sets I can't imagine HOW those shelves are going to stay in place.Condensed version..I get..but a mention of what you haven't shown wouldn't hurt.
