Totally solid! The first time I fixed this, I took my faucet apart, but ever since seeing your video, just tighten the bolt when it's loose. It would be nice if you didn't have to tighten every few months, but that's the only problem we have with our beautiful Moen faucet, so I can live with this. Thanks for the helpful and simple video.
If you have difficulty getting the dome seated properly (I sure did), here is a link to Moen's specific instructions: solutions.moen.com/Article_Library/Kitchen_Handle_Side_Mount%3A_Slide_On_Dome
You can call Moen and get a new dome kit. It comes with an interior plastic ring and you should not have to repeat this monthly. Kudos to Moen that the replacement parts are free. Bummer that we need them to begin with.
Thanks for posting this. I was considering replacing the faucet. Roto Router quoted $489 for labor to replace it. Took a couple minutes to fix after watching this.
This was the most helpful video that I was able to find. I just unscrewed the handle, took off the dome and unscrewed the cartridge. Realigned everything and tightened it up - viola! And your video got me there so thank you!
Thank you so much for showing the easy fix! Been tolerating the loose dome for many months -- complained to Moen who obligingly sent a new dome assembly that wasn't needed. Scanned dozens of videos on fixing loose faucets but not loose domes. Yours is the only one. Just jiggled and tightened as you showed! Great!
They sent me a repair kit with the dome, little black plastic ring, and white dome retaining ring. Just like you, I noticed this doesn't fix the problem. My original 3 parts are identical and were not broken. It seems that you can't get the dome into position so it will not loosen again, and the set screw is incredibly hard to access if you have a close backsplash. It's very hard to tighten the screw so it won't loosen again. I think the brass valve housing inside the faucet is sometimes coming from the factory not aligned properly, and this ultimately causes very poor accessibility to the set screw. That leads to an inability to properly torque the screw so it won't come loose again.
I wish I had watched this video first. Very easy and understandable. I ended up calling a plumber because I couldn’t get the allan wrench into the screw. Moen will send a new set of o-ring and plastic dome and guide for free. Thank you!
Thanks for this. I replaced the cartridge and tightened the plastic hex nut but water is leaking out from the cartridge area. Any ideas why? I don't want to overtighten the plastic nut.
Kudos to you for posting your video. Moen should compensate you because you have probably saved them money. I’ve watched a few videos already but they were all a waste of my time. Yours was short and spot on a fix! I just wish I had more room between faucet and back splash. Thank you for your video
My Annabelle faucet is doing the same way. Just realized tonight that it has the Allen screw up in there and was going to loosen it tomorrow. Found your video, and I'm glad it seems this will be the fix. The handle on mine also sometimes gets slightly hard to change from hot to cold, but then it will loosen back up on its own. I remember when I paid so much money to buy this at Lowe's, and I specifically wanted it, because it was one of the few that had a solid metal pull-out sprayer. Upon opening the package at home to install it, I realized they had modified it to have a plastic pull-out sprayer. I was right angry and felt cheated. Now, after just a few short years the handle is getting loose like this, and it makes me question Moen's quality these days.
Have been having this situation for two years now and I thank you for putting this video here. Finally, I called Moen & they very kindly sent at no charge the replacement parts and one month later, am having the same situation. This is a very expensive lesson.
I am in the same boat. I also started having the same problem and contacted Moen. They promptly sent me a repair kit too. I took pictures and the repair kit simply has the plastic dome, the black plastic ring, and the white plastic retaining ring that clicks into place under the dome. The new parts are completely identical to the old ones which were not broken in the 1st place. The exact same problem reoccurs over and over again. It seems to get the dome in the correct position so it won't fall off requires you to have the handle in a specific position when you tighten the set screw. On my faucet, it is mounted so close to the backsplash that you don't have the clearance to use an Allen wrench properly. It is practically impossible to get the set screw tight enough to keep this problem from happening again. I think I will try using a hacksaw to shorten my Allen wrench so I can tighten this properly. Maybe I can wriggle the Allen into place to put more torque on the screw in front of my backsplash if it is shorter. Also thinking of using a dab of lock tight on the set screw so it won't back itself out again. After looking very closely at the pictures on the little instruction sheet they send with the replacement parts I noticed that the white "keyed" plastic dome retaining ring does not seem to be positioned properly on my faucet. The only way to get it to move about 45 degrees clockwise so it will match the instructions picture, would be to seemingly have a special tool that will allow you to tighten the internal brass valve ousing inside the faucet. You can see little grooves all around this brass housing that appears to accept a special tool to tighten or loosen it into the faucet housing. That looks like the only way to make that keyed white plastic retaining ring be able to move clockwise so that its position will match the drawings on the instruction sheet. That would allow the entire dome and handle to be in a position that allows easier access to the set screw from the sink area. Seems like these come from the factory with the brass valve housing incorrectly positioned sometimes.
Moen Anabelle. They made it in 2 different finishes. The one in this video is the brushed nickel finish I believe. My Mediterranean Bronze one's model # is CA87003BRB.
Thank you. I've been doing this for 2 years. I'm going to call moen and get the reacement kit. Something is wrong if you have to tighten in every month.
Just so you know, and you likely do by now, the repair kit does not come with a new screw or an Allen key. It only comes with the plastic dome, the white plastic dome retaining ring, and the little black plastic ring that goes between the faucet & the dome. It was absolutely useless to get the kit, as my 3 original parts were not broken, and it all comes down to the darned set screw not being tightened enough and staying in place. Mine was so hard to access that it was incredibly hard to tighten the screw, because the faucet is too close to my backsplash.
Wow. The repair guide calls for a 3/32" Allen. Surprised you got that much larger one to fit. That's the equivalent of 10/32"! I used a 3/32" and it fits perfectly, but who knows, maybe they have a different sized screw on some.
@@hilltophideaway8076 I was having the same problem. I called Moen. They have sent me a new dome kit and cartridge replacement. I visited youtube for some videos so I would have to follow the written instructions.
@@terriwilliams7776 The written instructions suck! They sent me the dome kit, but not a new cartridge, which I didn't need. Heck, I didn't really need the dome kit! It includes the dome, a black plastic trim ring, and the white plastic dome retaining ring. None of that was causing the issue, and my old parts were still fine. The parts they sent are completely identical in every way and do not address the problem. If you put the dome on in the correct position and tighten the set screw good, I think the problem will not rear its ugly head. If you can't access the set screw well enough, perhaps you have a close backsplash, it is impossible to torque the screw tight enough so it won't come loose soon. The lock tight is a good solution if you can get the screw back in place without smearing it on everything inside the dome.
You are my hero! Easy fix, thank you!

Struggled to get the allen bolt out, but after numerous tries I finally got it. Thanks.

Perfect, simple fix!
weird new faucet was already super tight, just loosened and retightened and the drip went away.
Best video I have seen for this! We have the same faucet. I liked that you even explained what size Allen key I need!
They do not replace faulty part that comes off often?
Thank you! This tip helped me. My dome is secure as before.
Your repair worked perfectly! I took the sent the $311 faucet back to Amazon. 1:54
I have same problem, my allen key doesn't insert. I have a set with all the sizes, it is supposed to take #3
Thank you so much for posting this! This has been so irritating!

Pull the set screw completely out and add a drop of loctite to it so it stays tight.
Thanks for the the tip! I’m going to try that.
