My home town 😍😍😍. Even when it’s warm weather , Camps bay water is ice cold . It’s the Atlantic Ocean so the freezing water comes straight from Antarctica. For a warmer beach water , go to Muizenberg. ( Indian Ocean) . In Cape Town we are blessed to have the freezing cold water of the Atlantic Ocean as well as the warmer water from the Indian Ocean . ❤
One thing about Cape Town is that the weather changes to all four seasons in a day. You can have a sunny day then windy and rain all of a sudden. I wish they also showed you Table Moutain.
Weather wise we still in spring not yet summer, our summer months Dec-Feb the best time to visit Cape Town Jan-Feb. Cape town is where two oceans meet (Indian and Atlantic) Optionally you can go to the Indian Ocean side the water is warmer, Atlantic ocean is always cold
Cape Town ocean water is pretty cold all year round... But Cape Town is beautiful... You get to visit the Southernmost tip of Africa at Cape Agulhas, which is also the place where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet and you can see a distinct line. Water temperature depends which ocean you're in cos Indian Ocean is warmer
We, Cape Town, have 2 oceans, the Atlantic and the Indian. The Atlantic ocean current is FREEEZING water whereas the Indian ocean current is warm. Avoid Camps Bay, although its spectacular, if you want to swim but goto Muizenberg for that and surfing.
Cape Town has 2 ocean currents - its at the tip of the continent so you have cold on the one side and warmer on the other side. Funny thing the tourists ALL head to the Atlantic side first, meanwhile the locals are all laying on Simon's town, Seaforth, Fish Hoek, St James beaches - which is the warmer water 😁
Lol true. I always wish someone would advise all these vloggers to actually go to False Bay for swimming. Clifton is pretty also world class sunsets.. But not for swimming lol.
@@hleziphidhlamini1012 yip Gordon's bay and summerset west. Gordon's bay lol the beach of my childhood memories. We used to frequently go there on boxing day. With too much food and leftovers from Christmas, 😂😂😂 we would leave the house at like or 7am ..but definitely before 8am to get on the road in good time to atleast get a spot. Maan we don't do that anymore lol. Like packing the night before for the trip to the Beach.
On the Atlantic side you get the Sunset over the ocean, on the False Bay side you get the sunrise over the ocean. It's about 25-30 minute drive from the one side to the other, depending on the beaches you're going to.
I live in Cape Town. The beach where they're at (Camps Bay) is in the Atlantic ocean ie. Freezing cold all year round. You go there for the vibes mostly not to swim 🤣 We have other warmer beaches for swimming in the Indian ocean.
Cape Town Water is always cold. No matter what time of the year it is. If you want to experience warmer waters, move up to Durban. Cape Town water is from the Atlantic Ocean, and the Durban coast line is from the Indian Ocean.
8:45 The water was cold because they were probably on the Benguela current on the Atlantic side, Cape town has 2 currents, the Agulhas is warm which is in the South East and the Benguela which flows Northwards along the West is freezing cold. SN: I'm a S.A 🇿🇦citizen living in U.S.A 🇺🇲💕
Yip that's a useless beach in my opinion 😂😂😂 the locals or common folk.... We all flock to False Bay it's more tolerable. Muizenberg Beach and FishHoek Beach are most popular. And I actually enjoy that part of the peninsula more. Camps Bay and Clifton are heckkin beautiful though but don't go there with the expectation of swimming. It's a pointless exercise. It's just for sitting pretty on the beach. The sunsets are the best part of the day though.
@@AGirlNamedVan Camps Bay water is cold but not freezing you do get used to the water after a while. Hell me and my cousins had a swim at camps bay while it was raining and it took like 10 minutes and we got used to the water.
@@WarNeverChanges9191 lol no thanks. It's like my mom convincimg me to swim in hout bay. Sometimes FishHoek Beach is cold too. But I know it's better than Clifton. However I did enjoy it once. I suppose it depends on the current that day or something.
December is warm in South Africa but the water is cold in Cape Town because of the atlantic ocean. South african shores have two oceans the Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean. water in the indian ocean is as cold.
Beaches from Durban up the north coast to Mozambique all are warm all year round, Cape Town is the Atlantic so is the Arctic water temperature all year round, very windy and rainy but generally warm in the days and cool night, best November till February, Cape Town water is freezing cold all the time. It is called Cape of storms, can get nasty but is well worth the visit, pack for all seasons all the time, Durban is the opposite, never winter, just gets cooler for three months, June till August, inland has clear winter and summer, very hot and can even snow, hope that helps
I'd recommend the Cape Winelands, Table Mountain, Robben Island, Cape Point (where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet), the V&A Waterfront, the aquarium and some township flavor.
Lol, The weather can be super hot but the cold water will still hit you hard. It will freeze your feet or make you gasp on the west coast. We have two ocean currents though n a drive up the garden route will take you to warmer waters.
I think it's because it's the Atlantic Ocean it's always cold there. I've never been to the Western Cape. But the ones in the far East. KwaZulu-Natal coast, where there's the Indian Ocean is, it's warm all the way in the summer. And I've been to the beaches in KwaZulu-Natal
Swim in Muizenberg not in Camps Bay or any beach facing the Atlantic ocean. It is freezing 🥶 And dress in layers you can easily take off/ put on. You will experience four seasons in one day and sometimes wind that could knock you over. Enjoyed living there though, still go back as much as I can.
Cape town is known for there Cold benguala on the side of Waterfront which is the Atlantic ocean and the warm benguala on the side of Muzenberg which is part of the Indean ocean that's why the one side is very cold and the other side is much warmer the Indian ocean is on the side of America
Cape Town water is cold because of the Atlantic however Durban on the other hand has warm water due to the Indian Ocean - both these conditions exist wether its summer or winter in our country.
Jan/December is our summer season, but the beaches can get cold on certain parts of the coast line, but we loads of beach spots with each having different temperatures as they sit on different sides., all great views all not that far apart.
Camps bay is not a swimming beach(for me), that water is cold all year round. I prefer Strand or Gordon's bay beach... Camps bay is really pretty though(nice for IG pics and vlogs)
Pls react to the drakensburg mountains this place is rich in South Africa history, the and khoi San people lived here our indigenous people who walk south African long before the Europeans came to SA
Cape Town is beautiful, I live here. That was Camp's Bay. The water is cold in Camp's Bay, we have Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean. So Muizenburg Beach is definitely warmer. You get used the the cold water though. Come through, we would love to see you here.
The water is cold all year round in cape Town as its the the Atlantic Ocean. And as a person from Eastern Cape our Ocean is the indian ocean so its warm.the water in cape Town is something I can't get used to it.
One of my favorite airbnb apartment to rent is 40 on Lion, its located in the Bokaap neighbourhood and it sits at the foot of Lion'S head mountain. in the morning you catch the full table mountain view and as the weather changeg, you get to appreciate how beautiful Cape Town is... I am planning to make an offer on that particular apartment in the near future
Cape Town Atlantic sea water is warmer in winter. In the summer the wind blows (hard) the warm water off the top and cold water comes to the top. (upwelling)
December is the middle of summer, the water is cold as that side of Cape Town is the Atlantic Ocean, the other side is the Indian Ocean where the water is a bit warmer
If there's one thing about Cape Town weather, you cannot confirm it. One minute it's nice and sunny with a beautiful breeze the next moment there's a heat wave or worse the wind is so strong it could blow you away. It's an amazing place though...if you ask me the best place in SA.
Sooo... The Ocean in capetown going up the western coast of South Africa is colder then the ocen on the Eastern coast of the country in places like durban where the water is generally alot warmer. This is because the indian ocean is warmer because the current is coming down from the equator which is generally warmer coming down our East coast, and the atlantic ocean is cooler because the current is coming from Antarctica. Given our proximity to antarctica the difference is very distinct in the beaches in Durban compared to cape town. I suggest when coming down here, if you want to spend a day at the beach you do so in durban, its also a very warm and lively area... Youd love it alot. If you can do a reaction to the city of durban🇿🇦👍🔥
Hey in December it is our summer and in Cape Town it's usually very hot and if you go to Johannesburg it's usually raining at this time as it's the rainy season.

They which has warmer water on the Atlantic Ocean side which is fed by the cold Benguela stream coming from the south. On the other side from Cape Town you have the Indean Ocean side
