Matty was a terrific player. One of the best competitors I have ever seen. His acknowledgement of his big headed attitude for a time is impressive and a credit to him. I never played at that level, but saw this from several people both here in the UK and back in Oz. Sad part of reality is that they never actually figured out how much of a dickhead they were / still are. Love the story. Will be showing this to a few people , as it is a great balancer and a reality check some people need.

I am a firm beliver of when you think you are more than you really are, humility is a good thing to go through, if done right, and you accept the humility, you can grow from it and be a better person/sportsman. I've suffered many a humility and always accepted it and learned from it, well done matt

I love matty and rate him highly, but seriously how did those 1995 guys rate em selves??? Seriously Kevin Walters and Laurie Daley weren’t available, Ricky Stuart and Allan Langer were not either. So how does a half or 5/8 think they’re the. Best of the best. Ricky Stuart in 1993/4/5 is the best player in the world. Alfie langer was the best in the world in 92 96 and top 2 in 1997/8.
Again I rate Joey and matty, but in 1995 neither were legitimate Australian players at that stage of their careers. 99 absolutely they’d both over taken Alfie and kevie and Laurie and Ricky.
