its funny how matty always gets teased for not having talent, but the guy is hilarious, he has a great tv personality, hes engaging with stories and his laughs contagious. Lots of talent in the Johns family

For all the joking about how Matty was an unwanted child, and I know it’s all jokes but it was nice to see Gaz say that Matty deserved better when he was shafted out of Newcastle. I think it makes it funnier to find out that Matty doesn’t care and as he said “it was a long time ago”

Gary got serious when they mentioned Matty having to leave the Knights in 2000, the truth is he wanted the best for both his boys, not just Joey.
Love this show, Matty was an underrated player, maybe out shadowed by his bro. I thought he was great when he played for us at Wigan. Love him as a celeb on this show, top bloke. All of em.
This show is why I love Rugby league, Rugby league people are good people and Gaz is a fine example of it

I’ll go further and say this is why I love Straya! I’m a Victorian and AFL is exactly the same, The most talented blokes to play the game can not be serious for 1 minute and rip the shit of each other & the public! I don’t watch AFL or NRL but I watch both footy shows they’re the funniest thing on Aus tv, They show Gary Lion balling his eyes out on a stretcher & Sam Newman bitch slapping a tough bloke and then running away, the accidentally appear at the worst times like when Sam is chatting up a stunner or Gary is bragging about tough games (he played 300) & was tough but they show the 1 clip and he gets so pissed off lol
The moment when Gary was asked about Matt being cut from Newcastle is quite touching. He knows it’s a painful memory and looks over towards him as if to say “how do I play this one Matty?” Matt graciously says “it was a long time ago” and Gary moves on. With just a glance he shows how much he loves his son, and is proud of him. I know he plays the Joey is the favourite bit all the time, but he clearly loves and is proud of both of his sons.
I love how Gary Johns’s name panel is “Father Of 8th Immortal” and makes no mention of Matthew
