Always loved the Crown conversions and watching this video makes me miss the 1965 Corvair Convertible 140 that I had highly modified back in 1970. I worked at my Dad's foreign car service shop in La Jolla, CA. and I worked on Porsche 912's and 911's and I had mine set up and it could easily beat even the 911's back then. Love your set up it looks and sounds really good and very balanced. Love the line it allows you to pick with is great handling. Thanks for sharing, it brings back so many great memories. Mark.
Nice to see you finally were able to get around the Vette sled, cat needed some driving instruction. Watching wheel inputs, well balanced ride with a good driver. These were great cars when built and setup correctly. Had a ‘66 140 hp, ragtop with some suspension and engine upgrades. Had a ton of fun pissing off “muscle car” guys around Ft. Lauderdale in the ‘70’s. The Crown was the ultimate upgrade, just never got there, life got in the way. Great car and driver! Thanks.
There are a lot of V8 Corvair conversions out there from fast street cars to to track cars. I built a concours quality street car myself but there is only one doing real road racing. Mike Levine grew up at Road Atlanta and has been racing most of his life. This IS the baddest V8 Corvair on the planet! Don't think so? Build one and challenge Mike.
Well he is a little slow shifting and needs a bit more bite from the tires. But I 'll have to give it to him. He made it look easy. The Porsche could take the curves a little better and stick in the curves better. But the V8 power just put that Porsche to shame. You drove a good clean race and didn't take any chances. Well done man Well done.
4:35 dude that vette driver needs to move over or get some more experience. Was this a vintage race deal? If so what was a late model mustang doing there? Anyone know what trans and rear axle ratio is in that Corvair? You can tell how quick that rollerskate is, must be light! Love to have an air cooled 'Vair just for daily errands around town. Mpg aint bad, air cooled.
This is one sweet Corvair. Makes me think why didn't Chevrolet get into the fight with Ford and Ferrari and kick ass with a mid engine race car. Hmmmm. Like the guy that did the custom Corvair creation of a 63 Split Window Corvette. This kind of a mid engine Corvette would have eaten the field at the 24 Hour Lemans race.
Once he got past the newbie in the Corvette it was just a matter of time til he caught the pack and started pickin' em off one by one. Porches HATE being passed by a Corvair LOL.

NICE, NICE, NICE! Great car, great driving, great video. It finally became a battle between the Vair and the Porcshe. Thank you!
Great race great video and great sound. Awesome ride, Thank you, better than any tv show!
Thats one bad ass corvair i grew up driving them and always wanted to do a crown conversion now im going to have to get one and build it
Now that was a Joy Ride!

Very nice ride, was enjoyable to watch.

That was fun I'm sure glad we got around that blue car he was wearing me out now for some reason I want some vodka
Super video and sound Bill... Thanks. Andre
What a race! Congrats
Great vid and some nice driving Mike!
nice pass on the 63 @ 6 minutes :)
Awesome video! I hope you'll be at the Mitty next year!
That's gotta get your blood pumping!! Nice ride along.
My blood was pumping just watching, waiting for the Porsche pass.
Good handling rig....looks well balanced. Must weigh about as much as a cigarette butt.....with the small block it must scream.
Great stuff Mikey!

Who DOESN'T need more bite from their tires? Even the winner wishes he had more. I bet he wished he had a hundred more hp, too.
I know this isn't a new race but it sure sounds good
Unsafe at any speed? Doesn't appear so Nader. Great build!
Porsche Eater.
11:35 A CHEETAH!

That would have been a street sweeper for sure!
But would cut into their corvette sales for sure.
This is one bitchin' Corvair!

Vette was irritating, real erratic moves. What was 4:35 about he almost got rammed in the arse on that move
WOW
what's up with the guy in front of you... he was all over the place.
That first bit is just a warm-up lap....they "scrub" the tires like that to heat the rubber.
Vette driver drives like somebody's grandma
That Vette was sliding all over the place ....I don't blame him for not wanting to thrash his car
Yeah, kinda scary braking in the apex . Glad Mike was cautious around that " bronk ".
@@kirstenspencer3630 Cutting off rather than letting the faster car just pass.
$ says vette owner told nobody at home about the corvair that left him
