Perfectly setting up some great scary moments where you'd swap only to have a monster chasing you down a corridor or something. Essentially you're creating your own scares by choosing to look or not. Adds tension and anxiety every time you need to go into the other world. Instead it sounds like we have an artistic walking simulator again. :/

I think it's a good thing that we don't have combat in this game, I wanted something more exploration oriented... Maybe if the game would have had minimal combat then it could be nice but walking through that hotel and exploring it felt very atmospheric and engaging. I am also not the biggest fan of "walking simulators", I didn't like layers of fear for example which was made by the same team but the medium has a truly engaging and spooky world which is more than enough for me to enjoy it, I'm only about two thirds in but yeah... I feel like combat and added concepts would be very good additions to a sequel because this game feels more like a beginning of a character's journey than a one game experience.
I like how you mentioned the sound is similar to the Silent Hill series, but left out the fact that the sound track was done by Akira Yamaoka who did the sound track for the silent hill games...
What I’m getting from the reception of this game is that the game is good but people were expecting a nearly straight up silent hill game but didnt get that and the game has no real challenge to it that it probably should have given its a horror game. I’ve been on the fence about getting it for a couple years now but I think I’m gonna get it. It looks worth the time and honestly given this whole concept and idea I think if they choose to make another game they will probably understand the shortcomings and give it more. I’m gonna hope for a sequel for sure
Of course they were going for the Silent Hill atmosphere. The hired the composer of the Silent Hill series Akira Yamaoka to do the soundtrack for God's sake.

Let me drop in my five cents. Fuck auto saving. Just fuck it. This game saves way to rarely. I want to soak in the atmosphere and have an ability to pause whenever I want. There are times when I had to stop playing and leave the PC, but my last save had been about 30 minutes ago and I don't want to rush to the next one just so I can pause. It kills the experience of soaking into the horror. I want to suspend my disbelief, turn off the lights and crouch around dark halls feeling imminent jumpscare coming like I'm eight years old again. Read notes, feel the events, appreciate rooms and so on. Not hurry through a part to finally get to autosave. And if I die to moths because I lost focus, have to quickly run through the part hitting every clue like a speedrunner. Give me one save slot, but let me save whenever I want. Or set autosave in timed intervals if under "safe" circumstances. I thought we were done with this shit.

No where in this review is it said that "the monster in (this) horror game isn't gonna hurt them." He said it isn't challenging, and has no combat. Many horror games have no combat, your only options are to run or hide. It is annoying though, since the monster can kill you. In Canada, this game on Steam for PC, is selling for $67. That's ridiculously high for a single player game, with six hours of content. There are many reviewers that don't even use a scale to score games, but simply state if it's worth buying or not. At $67 I would personally say it's definitely not worth it.
That's really sad to hear. Fixed camera angles have such amazing potential and can really draw you into the game. It's a shame that they're associated with "old games" while other mechanics that are equally as old and unquestioned are in every single game ad nauseum. The irony is that people dismiss this mechanic as "old" and clunky, but the issue often lies more in learning something "new" to the player. Once you get the hang of it, you see how awesome it can be as an aid to storytelling.
@@GrandmasterofWin A fixed camera is indeed a wonderful aid to storytelling. No argument there. Unfortunately, it’s not as wonderful an aid to gameplay.

Studio execs are now moving to self-censor the game because devs included some anti-authoritarian easter eggs containing statements going against the fascist government of Poland and the Catholic church. It's almost the same as with the Taiwanese-made Devotion.
I just finished the game and i honestly can't believe how the developers could say that "this game is our most ambitious game yet" after the credits. There is nothing ambitious about this game, the "puzzles" are an insult to all puzzle games out there, the stealth is so poorly done it shouldnt even be here. I really wanted to like it, the art style and atmosphere was really good but the gameplay is barely gameplay. And the "split reality" is NEVER used to it's fullest potential (it's almost never used at all now that I think about it). And the FPS drop is insane at certain parts going from 60 down to 15 for no reason
Yeah, i felt its so wasted on the split screen, basically you just need to focus on one side and forget the other side, there are no tension, no puzzle at all, no something like "in reality she is standing in timing trap while her spirit rushing to find the switch" kind of puzzle and tension moment, just here and there a bit, nothing remarkble or unforgetable. Everytime trying to find echo from items is like a intelligence insult to me - whats the point of it?? And the human echo reshape... gosh, why bother to make it a puzzle anyway. The ending is so unfinished and bad, they are trying to do something like "inception" kind of ending but honestly, i dont even want to bother to debate about whats the ending outcome, because i dont in love with any characters there, there are nothing depth there. The art style is beautiful, but just beautiful, there are no "darkness silent hill style" of beautiful game, i dont feel any horror at all, there are nothing disturbing elements. There are not ambitions, just observative executions game play try to please everyone, and pure laziness. Nothing good on puzzle, nothing good on combat, nothing good on horror elements, and story just half baked, it just going nowhere.
I think at this point it's safe to say that this dev isn't gonna make a truly great game. This is what Xbox console exclusives are gonna be lmao. New halo, new gears, shitty games like this. In Canada, this game on Steam for PC, is selling for $67. That's ridiculously high for a single player game, with six hours of content. There are many reviewers that don't even use a scale to score games, but simply state if it's worth buying or not. At $67 I would personally say it's definitely not worth it.
The fixed camera is what lost me. Not really interested in playing a two-decade old game with pretty next-gen graphics.
No combat is what lost me. I've wanted to like games like these in the passed but never played them more than 2 hours.
Adapting and Evolving
@@carlphillips3876 Unless the gameplay is meant to be claustrophobic and challenging. It would be a poor choice for a power fantasy game (I'd pick 100 FOV FPS for that), but it is something that can artificially inject a learning curve into a game. It's a hell of a risky move though as frustration is a difficult emotion to balance and typically comes across as just poor game design instead of intended.
As I predicted.
True review!
I thought is better this game but now understand i won't lose much because I don't have xbox the only good game where I have see so far from Microsoft is the stalker 2 i hope will come to ps5 too later
It likely will since it was shown during the xbox multiplatform 3rd party event & called a "console launch exclusive" not to mention during their press release they stated "coming first to xsex as a console launch exclusive"
www.pushsquare.com/news/2020/07/s_t_a_l_k_e_r_2_will_probably_come_to_ps5_eventually
Microsoft needs to buy this studio's
That requires a lot of money dude...maybe in millions of dollars.
@@smoothinterceptor8452 I'm Million's is penny's to Microsoft.
Kinda disappointed.. they really had a great concept for this game what a shame it didn’t come through
You should play it yourself. Don't trust reviews. A lot of this comes down to personal preference, not a rank out of 10.
@@GrandmasterofWin you make a very vaild point unfortunately I did play for my channel and it wasn't the game I was hoping for but thank you for the advice 😁
Doesn’t this guy voice the easy allies reviews? I know he came from the gametrailers reviews but is gamingbolt and easy allies related?
Yes
yeah this game looks like shit in a handbasket
Is this game out already?
No, it comes out tomorrow
No..the cancel Culture has cancelled it.
6 hours! I’ll pass until it’s half price.
How much is it now?
Just use game pass
It's on gamepass, you shouldn't be paying full price anyways
Gamingbolt:
The Medium: 6-8 hours. Too short. 7/10
Spiderman MM: 5 hours. But is PS exclusive. 8/10
Gaming media as biased as ever 👏👏👏
People love drinking that PS Kool Aid lol
Miles Morales is 10 hours unless you're speed running lmao
Keep in mind that Miles Morales is an expansion to Spiderman PS4 not a sequel so it's supposed to be shorter than the original game even if it can be played on it's own
@@alpha34098 what these guys call PlayStation bias i call Sony just making better fucking games.
Just on ps5 we've already got demon souls and Miles Morales, with god of War ragnarok and horizon forbidden West coming soon.
Xbox has The Medium and they wonder why ps5 outsold x 3 to 1.
Xbox exclusives are absolute garbage
Who do you think this "The Medium" character is compared to spiderman eh, spiderman is a household name while this game is barely known
I don't like sand
Guess I'm the 5th which means I'm the greatest
Lol this game was getting hyped up and all it is a walking simulator
Shhh it's taboo to call it what it is, they're called "actionless adventure" games
LOL
I think at this point it's safe to say that this dev isn't gonna make a truly great game.
This is what Xbox console exclusives are gonna be lmao. New halo, new gears, shitty games like this.
No wonder ps5 outsold series x 3 to 1 despite having less systems available.
And they bought Bethesda but I'm betting games like wolfenstein, fallout or elder scrolls are still gonna be cross platform, solely because there aren't enough xbox owners to sustain the studio.
I agree with you man...i think microsoft is lowering there budget to all there exclusive game so that they can put it in gamepass...the gamepass real purposed is to kill the physical copy of video game...
@@Pinokz it's obvious that microsoft is slowly steering people toward PC and focusing more on making cross platform games to take advantage of Sony customers.
It shows me that they've basically given up on the xbox. The fact that they delayed their only big exclusive for a year just proves the point
No game like this on Ps5. You just jealous. Demons souls is ps3 game. Guess you can play bugs game
@@Pinokz people who hate this game are young kids who never played a silent hill game. Nothing like this on Ps5. Great game to play this weekend on game pass. No $70 charge here for one game
You guys keep on telling yourselves that. Whatever gets you through the night huh
30 fps and not even native 4k on series x poorly optimized on pc bloober fuk** up 👎
Good thing it was on Game Pass I would of been upset if I paid for this game. Concept was cool game was cheeks.
The MediumZzzz
First is the worst second is the best
The only thing i like about this game is the camera angles.
Another boring horror walking simulator.
Dear Wsther is better.
Well most reviews are giving it good reviews so guess you just wanted this game to fail. Probably cus it’s Xbox
Well hate to tell you but the game is actually getting some pretty good scores, clearly it's not as bad as you think it is
@@ryancadek This game was worse than I could ever imagine. A total wastage of time and money!
2/10
GOTY 2021!
XDDDD
Uh no, mostly because gow is likely coming out this year
Seems like everything Blooper team does, only half good.
5/10.
Graphics are bad.
Music is excellent.
Gameplay is shockingly boring.
Story is almost good.
The puzzle are linear, obvious, and pretty much just padding.
As somebody who is a wimp with scary games, this game didn’t scare me once unless you count cheesy jump scares.
At the end of my play through I felt like I accomplished nothing. If you get it for free with the pass and want some achievement points, go for it. Otherwise, don’t waste your time.
Just like I said in Gamerant this game is complete shit.
5th
Fourth
I feel bad for xbots they trying really hard to make this game look good because they thought it was an exclusive but the game isn't good at all lol
ZzzZZZZzzz
4rth
Third
Ok im first
To me this nothing more than a Silent Hill ripoff, mainly for the other world gimmick 👎
Dual screen game play is literary the dumbest game design idea in 2021, I'm calling it already.
uninstalls just fine
This game looks pretty average.
This game is just a walking simulator, For an AAA killer app, the graphics are terrible, halo 4 on the 360 looks better
Pretty sure 90% of ppl just play this on gamepass, the day 1 sales should be terrible
The dual reality is a tacky gimmick, the game would be better if all of the game was set in the spirit world
Ahhh haha crap game! Only xbox fans will say it is good! 💩💩💩
These Xth0ts are genuinely funny. Can't belive that they successfully hyped this pile of trash!
