    Paul thanks for this commentary and sharing some of the history. I have this amplifier and am the original owner having bought this back in high school. It was a warrior for me. Many, many, many gigs in Chicagoland over the years, grateful to own it. I fired it up tonight and smiled. I am a huge fan of what you've done as a designer, you are truly an artist in your own right. I also own an R-30 which is one of the best amps I've ever owned. This became my go to gigging amp later in life. Versatile 2 channel like some of your other designs, or use the clean channel as a great pedal platform. NEVER failed on me, extraordinarily reliable. I assume you know but you have made a lot of people happy over the years indirectly. Thanks and Cheers.

    Paul,....you have been one step ahead of EVERYONE for a long time my friend. And all us guitar players have ever needed was proper connectivity along with the tone. For myself,....the "dream amp" would simply incorporate a true stereo fx loop with all your other goodies such as your Venus. Well done sir as well as your sons talent. Bless you.

    I'm very much enjoying Mr. Rivera's history videos like this one. Please keep them coming! I'm very much interested in hearing about the active effects loop Mr. Rivera pioneered. I'm seeking a Sedona and a Rivera era Fender Concert 410 and the loops are one of the key features in these amps that I'm looking for. Thank you very much for this content.

    My first "real" amp (I had/have the small Pignose 7-100, which led me to buy the 150R Crossmix). I have the 2-10" model. It's currently "retired" in my garage, but I should pull it out, clean it off, attach the footswitch, and see how it compares to my newer Fender combo amps. Thank you for a solid introduction into guitar amplification!

    Very cool amps, I have two. I also have three 60R combos, and one 30/60 head. These Crossmix amps are totally cool and take pedals great. Make a really cool gigging/recording amp. The 60R sounds ok on it's own, but throw an EQ in the loop and a line out into a larger amp, then you know the secret recipe for a solid state Boogie clone sustain monster.
    The 30/60 is the different/older design and sounds - sort of not anywhere near the Rivera designed tones, can't get it to sound too good even with pedals.
    Back in 2005 I called Paul to ask him some questions about the 60/150 circuits, I figured he'd be taken that someone was praising the amp as a fan of them after all these years. He said tongue in cheek "uh, why don't you just buy a Rivera?! He wasn't interested in talking Pignose no matter how polite I was, nor how much I love the tone he created in my amp, so it fizzled from there. All I walked away with, was that the 60R tone has a RAT-type circuit.
    Boy he seems much more proud and enthusiastic about it here though! lol
    Pat Quilter spoke with me at great length about his part in the design and his knowledge on them, and gave me as much info as he possibly could about the RAT type circuit. Told him the amp sounded great when adding an eq and/or a BBE to make up for what it lacks, which interested him though he mentioned he wasn't planning on anything like it. Not too long after, coincidentally Quilter unveiled a new line of solid state combos, Aviators and then other compact powerful units. Hmm, my eyebrows went up that day!
    I don't own a Rivera because I've never had a couple grand in my wallet being an everyday poor musician that can't afford a fraction of that for anything new. Maybe I'll hit the Powerball soon? Fingers crossed

      Would you be willing to demo the crossmix on UA-cam ? There’s no demo videos. I really like the sound of the battery powered pignose100 and looking for a larger version to play with bands

      @@ryanbailey6900 I don't have the capabilities to make videos. There's this 150 Crossmix, there's also a 60-R Studio Reverb. Google them up

    Hey Paul! After researching your work with Fender in the 80's, I found and purchased a 1984 Twin Reverb. I've been playing with it for some time but there is a lot to it that I don't understand how to use (it didn't come with an instruction manual). Can you point me in the right direction to find information on this amp such as how to use the pedal loop and proper setup? Any information would be appreciated.

    Hi, I recently purchased a 150r with the single 12, it sounds tremendous and I absolutely adore it. I have a question. I do not have the footswitch. The reverb doesn't seem to function. Does the lack of the footswitch prevent the reverb from turning on? I really want to keep this amp forever as it is perfect for what I need. Thank you for your time.

    Thank you for making this video. I just got one of these after a long search. the speaker in it isn't the original. Mr. Rivera, if you see this, can you tell me if there's a 12" speaker currently made that would be close to the original Eminences that you had custom made? Also, did Lee Jackson have any hand in developing this amp?

    • @GregRaven
      @GregRaven 4 роки тому

      If I remember correctly, Lee helped mostly with the amp mods Paul did in his garage. I don't believe that he had any input on any of Paul's designs, especially not those done for other companies.

    Last time they used to build cars in the 1900s just like we build now.
