Lita Ford was a teen lead guitarist when she joined the first all-female rock band The Runaways in the 70's featuring Joan Jett on rhythm guitar... After The Runaways broke up, Joan Jett was the first to find solo success in the early 80's w/ Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. Meanwhile, Lita Ford started her solo band in California and established herself as an accomplished guitarist in an era dominated by male guitarists... She was managed by Ozzy Osbourne's wife Sharon Osbourne who helped her reach solo success in 1988 w/ her third solo album 'Lita'. By 1987, Ozzy Osbourne was the 'Prince of Darkness'... and extremely successful... and Lita Ford was a huge fan of Black Sabbath (She dated Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi in the early 80's but made allegations of physical abuse in her recent autobiography... Tony Iommi was heavily into drugs when they were together and had little recollection of Lita in his own autobiography) ... Lita wrote the song 'Close my eyes forever'... and was thrilled when Ozzy agreed to sing it and make it a heavy metal duet... It became a huge hit in 1988, surpassing any Ozzy singles from his solo career. However, Lita was concerned that Ozzy was drinking heavily during that time and said that even after they had recorded the song and filmed the music video together... they attended an industry party and he didn't recognize her 😂 Lita admitted that she left Sharon's management team because Ozzy and Sharon's marriage was falling apart from Ozzy's drinking & drug abuse and she wanted to get away from that drama in her business... She was proven right in 1989 when Ozzy (after binging on booze and pills) blacked out and tried to strangle Sharon in their home and ended up in jail... They separated for months after that but reconciled by 1990. Lita Ford released 3 more solo albums before the 90's grunge era decimated her career... She returned to touring and recording around 2010 after splitting w/ her 2nd husband and alleging physical abuse from him. Her guitar skills are still hailed as groundbreaking in the rock/ metal genre from the era of guitar wizards like Eddie Van Halen ... Randy Rhoads ... Yngwie J. Malmsteen ... Steve Vai ... Warren DeMartini ... Slash... Angus Young... etc.
You can't go wrong with Ozzy, what an iconic classic rock performer. Love that you have a friend helping with the reaction. That chicken loves you!!! Keep up the great reactions.
My band opened for her at The Stone in SF, I missed her at sound check, I was checkin' out her tour bus at the time lol... then after I got my rig and bass all packed after we played... I only caught couple of her tunes... her guitar skills were legit! Never did get to meet her and party after the gig... I always regrated that.
What a power duo these two were and this track was so powerful to a kid coming of age in 1989. I hearted it as soon as I heard it being played on those NYC Airwaves. I have to admit, your bird could hang and keep in tune! Thanks for the memories with this reaction!
I love that, even when you paused, Henrietta immediately started talking when Lita Ford sang. I confess a limited amount of specific knowledge about our avian friends, but I think that’s a smart bird…maybe ready for an Ozzy colab. 😊
I'm a guitar player.. been in cover bands for 40+ years.. I used to bring my wife on stage to sing this duet with me.. She could sing really well.. and had the big blonde hair.. .. well.. i had big hair back then too.. lol.. typically I wasn't the lead singer.. guitar and backup vocals.. but we did this one well together.. I miss her.. she passed away 14 years ago.. RIP Baby..
Great Rock ballad from Ozzy and Lita Ford! Very lamenting song! For more Lita Ford I recommend the song 'Kiss Me Deadly'! For another Ozzy song I recommend "Crazy Train"! If you haven't heard either of those songs! Luv the chickadee singing along! 😁🐤 Thanks for sharing Maddy!❤️💛
Good morning, Maddy! This is a great ballad by a powerful duo. Thanks for bringing your beautiful aura, smile, and laughter to my dreary Humble/Houston rainy day! I hope everything is going well for you!! ✌️☮️🎸🎸🎶🎵🎼🎤🎸🎸🇨🇱
Cool story behind this one!!! OZZY and wife Sharron were hanging out with Lita at her place and Sharon went home, Lita started strumming and OZZY being the gifted Genius wrote these lyrics out and here we are!! Maddy and Birdie Reaction!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
And I woke up to a couple of hearts today Maddy!! So I just wanted to say thank you!! I love seeing those hearts. I don’t need a “Like, Comment, or subscribe”, just a heart will do. But a heart is a “ like” huh lol!! Much love my friend!! Keep a Rockin!🌹🫶🙏🙏
Ozzy is a character, that's for sure. It's hard to understand anything he says, but he's a great singer. I saw Black Sabbath back in the day, great concert.
Lita did an interview where she told the reporter that when she was standing there looking up at Ozzy up there in that little offset all dark and the smoke around him that he looked like a god up there. She said she will never forget how breathtaking it was to look up there and see him like that. She said it was like the world had just come to a standstill basically.
Anything from Ozzy's first two solo albums, *Blizzard of Oz* and *Diary of a Madman,* is total fire. He has a few slower acoustically based numbers on those two albums such as Goodbye to Romance, Revelation (Mother Earth), You Can't Kill Rock and Roll, Tonight, and Diary of a Madman. His fourth album, *The Ultimate Sin* has a slower number titled Killer of Giants.
@@MaddyReactions His third album, *Bark at the Moon,* has a really slow song with orchestral strings titled So Tired. I should have listed that in my original post. I don't know why I forgot to list it. Most people, and even Ozzy himself, consider So Tired to be just a filler song, but it's a beautiful love song, and I love it.
Can't help but think of all the fallen service men and women, of the Allied forces of The Great War ( WW1 ) and WW2, in the Pacific theater, at Dunkirk, the trenches of the Western Front in WW1. Of the French and American boys in Vietnam. Of the increadably brave Australian & New Zealanders & other Commonwealth, of the Free Polish and French Vishy. The boys of RAF Bomber Command. They will remain forever young. In recent years heard this power ballad played on memorial days.
LOL@the "pet" bird. Love it!! Don't get me wrong, I think it's totally cool (and VERY original) for you to watch/listen to some tunes while the bird seems to be enjoying it too LOLOL. Just was TOTALLY unexpected. You're an original, that's for sure ;)
@@MaddyReactions I always thought HOW cool and gratifying it would be to find a chick (e.g. crow, etc) by itself in the wild, then raising it--because it'll almost certainly die if ya don't--then watch HOW close that bird bonds with its human savior. Good stuff :)
So, funny enough, this ended up being the highest charting single of both Ozzy Osbourne's & Lita Ford's careers, peaking at # 8 on Billboard. In 1991, Ozzy Osbourne released his No More Tears album, in which he very much went in this direction with the songs: No More Tears Mama, I'm Coming Home I Don't Want to Change the World I think you'd like all three of those songs based on your reaction to this song.
Oh lord look at that beautiful little baby sittin on your hand. I live in the middle of nowhere and I have pheasants come to visit for sunflower seeds, but they don't sit on my hand.
@@MaddyReactions I can tell! We used to have chickies when I was a kid. Now all I have is a family of cat tormenting pheasants that wander into the yard
No More Tears would have to be my favourite Ozzy song outside of Black Sabbath. It was in the 90’s but he was at the top of his game and Zakk Wylde (his guitarist) was fire!! Plus its about a serial killer so it’s more traditional Ozzy subject matter than this song
Lovely Maddy. Lita Ford used to play in a group called The Runaways. Joan Jett was in the group, too. The ornithological accompaniment is most interesting.
"creepy, kooky vibe.....i already see the fingers tapping, i already know..." ..except Ozzy's fingers, his are snapping apparently! lol Great reaction Maddy, Ozzy does have his share of ballads as a solo artist: "Mama, I'm Coming Home", "Goodbye To Romance", "See You On The Other Side". There's also a great ballad he did back in his Black Sabbath days called "Changes" if you want to give that a listen. As for your new friend, i can't tell if she enjoyed it or not, but the less she knows about Ozzy's history with winged animals, the better!!
How is the most incredibly beautiful girl on the planet doing doing well I hope it's one of my favorite songs with these two I've been into Lita Ford since she was with The Runaways and Ozzy since 1970 with Black Sabbath when I was 8 years old
Loved the featured backup singer. The bird, of course. 😂🐤
😂😂😂😂😂😂 I’m glad you enjoyed her vocals!
