As a nurse who works in an ambulatory care facility, I found this to be an excellent presentation. This should be shown to all patients. Thank you.
I could not sleep due to hunger and found the sleeping with a hot bottle of water on my stomach allowed me to sleep. Good luck to all.
I’m a RN and this is an excellent tool!! This should be shared over and over again…..kudos!! You made this super simple for anyone to understand.
This video is fantastic and much clearer and more detailed than anything my doctor provided or I have seen. Thank you for creating this very comprehensive and simple to follow guide to colonoscopy prep!
I have my procedure at the end of the month (3/29). This made it very simple to understand. I appreciate you and good luck to all who will be doing this procedure and have found this video with clear and precise instructions.
How did the procedure go? I have mine in a week 😅
I want to thank you so much for such an easy way to do a prep. I didn’t vomit this at all and I was able to evacuate. The way my Dr wanted me do it was 128 Ounces of fluid mixed with the MiraLAX. That’s impossible for someone like me who has interstitial cystitis, and it was going to affect my bladder in a negative way . Sometimes the doctors are only concerned with their own practice and they’re not concerned with the patient’s other disabilities or capacity for holding this product. This is such a blessing thank you thank you thank you.
Best video on this topic! Thank you for making it easy to understand. Some people were too annoying to listen to, you weren’t :)
I just had my colonoscopy today. Thank you for this video. I followed your instructions. I mixed my Miralax with Gatorade. It was not bad at all. Everything went very well.
I have mine this Tuesday 3/19
@@SmeekstutI hope all went well. Mine is Thursday 3/21 😵💫
I'm going tomorrow morning
how was it? I have mines in two days
@@nanpez4375 Went in at 10:30 was headed home by 12:15.
Procedure only last about 20-30 minutes. Your completely sleep for about 45 minutes max.
It's almost like nothing ever happened.
Thank-you! Hands down this is the best information video on colonoscopy prep that I have seen.
This is a great video and easy to understand! I used this prep two days ago and found it to be much better than my last prep. I was told to use 4 Dulcolax but I followed this video and only used 2. It was so much better for me! I got really sick in the middle of the night the last time time I prepped. I got extremely nauseous and could not stop going to the bathroom. My heart was also racing and I wanted to go the ER in the middle of the night! I wasn't able to get the second half of the Gatorade/Miralax down at all (threw it up) but my colon was cleaned out anyway.
This time, I was so scared and worried that I would be horribly ill again, so after watching this video I decided to do the 2 Dulcolax. I took 2 at 6 pm. At 7 I started drinking the first 32 ounce of Miralax and unflavored Pedialyte. I only got about 2 glasses down. I then decided to mix the Gatorade with Miralax since the unflavored Pedialyte was not tasting too good. I think I managed to get one glass of the Gatorade down. I got nervous because I was not urgently going to the bathroom like the last time. I then took a Zofran but I really didn't notice a change except that I got really tired and did not want to drink anything. I just wanted to go to sleep. I was going to the bathroom but it wasnt an urgent type of feeling as the last time.
At 10pm I got nervous (I'd probably gone to the bathroom 10 times at this point) that the prep wasn't working as good and i called a doctor on call and asked if I should take another Dulcolax. i was told since it was getting late, to just try to go to sleep and then wake up at 3 am (I had to be at the hospital at 9 am) and drink the second half of the prep as best I could. So at 3 am I started the second half. I think I managed to get 2 glasses down within 2 hours. I did go to the bathroom at least ten more times if not more. Everything looked clear and I thought if I am not cleaned out, I don't know what is!
So for me, my intestines seem to be overactive and things move fast through me. I took the 2 Dulcolax and probably only half of the prep and over a slower amount of time since I did not feel well and it worked fine for me! My prep quality was excellent!
I have heard though that some people take the 4 Dulcolax and ALL of the prep and it does not work! Everyone is different! I would recommend the first time you do the prep to follow the prep's instructions and then see how you do. After that you can tweak it to work for you. In my case my bowels move fast so what I did worked great.
Next time, I will skip the Pedialyte and use Gatorade. I think I had a severe electrolyte imbalance the first time I prepped and got worried and made sure I drank all day before the prep. By the time I started my prep this time I think I was just full and sick of drinking and so tired! I did not sleep at all during the night and had been awake for maybe 30 hours.
My colonoscopy was yesterday. Good news is I had no polyps this time so my next is in 5 years!
Any questions, feel free to ask!
Thank you for making this so so easy. I was so anxious and nervous, I went back and watched this like 10 times lol thank you!
How did it go? I've been panicking about it for weeks
I scored a 9 out of 9 on my prep using this method! Thank you✌🏻
i love love love this video....thank you....giving you credit ma'am...your video is the one I have chosen out of the lots i scanned through for my 1st patient teaching assignment as a nursing student. THANK YOU
Thank you so very much for making this video!! You made it much easier than the instructions provided to me by the healthcare provider’s office!! 🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
My bidet came in handy
Great video. This is a very easy prep that nobody needs to fear or be apprehensive about. It tastes like ... Gatorade. Easy to drink and no nausea or other unpleasant symptoms.
Thanks I feel way more calm about this now. I was used to the giant jug & was concerned about this new way of doing things.
You made it so easy. You are amazing. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️
Thank you for this video 🙏🏾 you made it easy for me, now im ready for my test next week 😊
I wish all the medical people would get on one page. Just had a colonoscopy today, 11-28-23. The prep was nothing but clear liquids for a full 24 hours, take 2 laxative pills at 2pm or before, then at 4pm or at least 2 hours after the pills. Dump the entire bottle of Miralax in 64 ounces Gatorade and start drinking. Eight ounces every 15 minutes until gone. Absolutely nothing by mouth after midnight of 7:30 am appointment. I started drinking at 3:30pm and was still blowing and going at 10:30 pm. As I was coming out from under the anesthesia my B. P. dropped. They all ran in circles for about 30 seconds, then said "that is better" . About a hour latter they sent me home. the spousal unit drove.
Thank you for the video. It was the best and easiest instructions!
Thank you for making this video, it's very helpful.
The instructions vary from practice to practice. I was instructed to take 4 Dulcolax tablets not 2, and was told to drink 64oz. of Gatorade/ Miralax, not 56Oz.
The lady in video is correct.
The correct amount is 56oz of MiraLAX mixed with 64oz of gatorade.
@@balzoemg8415Well no, the lady recommends 2 28oz. bottles of Gatorade which equals a total of 56 oz.. The Miralax powder is a 14 dose bottle which equals only 8.3 oz of powder. I guess it's not a big deal however whether you drink 56 or 64 oz. of Gatorade since the colon is usually clean before all the liquid is consumed anyway.
For total of eight Dulcolax? I believe doesn’t she say he take two in the beginning and then two at the end?
I am having my procedure next week. I was going to use the Sutab tablets. But, I am going to use the Miralax Gatorade mixture after seeing this video.
💩
Great video!!! Easy to understand . Thanks so much.
This is almost exactly what my doctor instructed. A 9:00am procedure put me waking up at 3:45am to take second dose.
Great clear and concise video. Thank you Stephanie.
I was told 64 oz or Gatorade and 238g of miralax and the 2 dulcolax tablets. Then at 4 drink 8oz of mixture every 20 minutes until gone and then proceed to clear liquid
I couldn't find any 32 oz bottles so went with the 28"s
I was told every 15 minutes until gone.
Great Video!!!
I Was A Little Nervous.
But With Video -Easy Peezy.
Thank You Very Much.
Now I Can’t Wait For My Scheduled Appointment.
This was the best info! Thanks
Use a funnel to avoid a mess with the miralax going into the Gatorade. Also, I buy the generic miralax. Much less expensive for the same ingredients. And I prefer no sugar Powerade.
I was told to start at 12 noon with the 64 oz miralax 8oz every 15 min until done then at 4pm 2 dulcolax because I have my appointment at 8am and lived 30min far away
Very good - thanks
This video is very good. Thank You 😊
👍Excellent! - Very clear! 🌴
Thank you for this video. I am not a patient but this video really made clear my prep instructions, which are very similar to Riverside. I am going to share this with my GI doc. Perhaps they can do something similar.
Thanks for you advise excellent explained
Keep the Miralax Prep it Dehydrated me so bad that they could not find my veins for the IV and I had to Cancel my Colonoscopy So I have to wait 6 months to get my Colonoscopy
Very helpful.
Thank you nurse 🙏 happy New year 🙏
Thanks for the video.
Awesome video ❤
So, I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy in a couple of days. My instructions are slightly different for one it prescribed the Miralax to be mixed with 64 ounces of Gatorade, as opposed to 56 ozs. It does not instruct me to take 2 Ducolax tabs at 4:00 PM which I happen to have. I do appreciate the mixing hack for splitting the doses though even though I had to buy a large bottle of GA, as my local market did not have 32 oz bottles in stock. I will measure the doses accordingly between 2 large pitchers I purchased during the Summer from QVC. Ty for this tutorial.
Mine as well, today is my procedure, I drank 56 instead of 64 ounces, I’m freaking out a bit, I did finish all the powder.
@@jenjen8072 You’ll be fine. The hardest part is getting all the solution in, and releasing everything. Once you arrive and get registered, and prepped you wont feel a thing.
@@jenjen8072 Hey again. How’d it go?🙂
Even though I took the 4 Ducolax and drank 64ounces of Gatorade I was not cleaned out enough to go to my 9am app . I have to reschedule and I’m upset about this !What actually went wrong ?!
@@monicafranzo9378 That's odd it usually has cleared out most everything before you during the 2nd 1/2 of the mixture. Even it's light yellow, there are no solids should be left. Anyway good luck going it again.👍🏾🥲✝️
I’m wondering why there is so much variation for the Miralax prep from practice to practice. My instructions are to use 64 oz of liquid with my 1st round of Miralax and then 32 oz of liquid prior to the next dose of Miralax. 4 Dulcolax in total, 2 each before drinking the Miralax prep. But I see many here have followed the instructions here and it worked well. Has me scratching my head.
Ty
Best prep
I wish I had had this option, I had drink the deadly gallen 😢I couldn't do the entire gallon, I was so sick 🤢
How much did you drink ?
Gatorade and ducolax have food colourings that trigger serious asthma attacks in me. Not good. It might be an idea to mention alternatives for people like me.
Gatorade with prep made me vomit. This time I used Vitamin Water, much gentler on my system.
Good idea thank you so much!
Were you able to still do procedure
I can't tell you how incredibly helpful this video is. I am having this procedure done and the 11 page instruction that was given to me was a source of frustration and intimidation . Having a concise and well written script and great articulated video helped me tremendously as I am a visual learner. Thank Stephanie and Riverside for putting this together. Have a wonderful day.
but what if after drinking the first bottle of the miralax, waiting 4 hours still have no feeling want to go poo??
Is this prep as effective as other ones? For my first EGD and colonoscopy, my doctor gave me GaviLyte. The taste made me almost throw up every time I drink it. If I have to do this prep again in the future, I’d like to request doing this prep if it’s an equally good alternative. The fact that it’s tasteless would be a HUGE help for me.
I'm going in for mine in an hour and they had me do 2 of the gatorade with 2 of the miralax! I am so sick to my stomach right now. One was last evening and the second was this morning. with the 3 pills earlier yesterday.
I vomitted 😢
I just had my colonoscopy my prep consisted of 2 bottles of miralax 4 bottles of thevzero 4 tablets of dulcolax 3 days before did the magnesium thing whole botyle. The prep was so horrible first pitcher nothing . Second pitcher at 800 in the evening and only 2nd pitcher did I start to go it was horrible. 2 bottles miralax? Horrible i couldnt breathe i still didnt hsve completely c k ear in t he morning . I wish it was done in 2 days. I was so sick from this prep. I have high blood pressure your method was awesome it would have been better for me
Super concerned about not being able to take iron and b 12 for an entire week. Anemia is a real problem.
Can i follow this for, general detoxing?
Perhaps I missed, how long does this take to kick in? If it take only a small portion of this is it for constipation? The foods that leave residue is great help.
Can you mix it in something that isn't poisonous Gatorade?
I always find it odd that the medical community never talks about nutrition or avoiding corn syrup etc...
Nothing against the video though! It's helpful!
No one told me how to do prep so i did 2 cases of gatorade with a cap full of miralax.
I did a case of Coors Light and a bottle of Miralax and 6 Dulcolax and my colonoscopy went well
No matter what pre colonoscopy evacuation procedure you use, you can be guaranteed of one thing. You will experience a quantum leap in both physical and mental internal body warfare known only to those who have experienced it
Hey! Have you ever thought about people being nervous and watching this video for comfort? Only to read shit like this and be put into a state of fear and anxiety? Asshole.
so if my arrival time is 9am I have to get up at 4am to start drinking this????? crazy
My hospital had me drink 2 Gatorade bottles twice in a 10 hour period and oh the bloating pain I wish I only had to drink one twice like this hospital 😢
I would have to use the bottle of miralax !!
Sad thing is people who need it the most can’t get the stool out easily and that’s why they need a colonoscopy, I have a hypertonic pelvic floor and it won’t work even with the laxatives and will most likely just cause hemorrhoids or something else from pushing but no opening
Was told to take 2 doses. Mix 119 grams miralax in a 28 ounce Gatorade then again 3 hours before hospital arrival. Took 4 ducolax tablets and drank the first bottle of Miralax mixture, been 2 hours nothing happening.
So craz how prep isball different
Mine took 4 dolcolax @ 9:30 am
Mix 14 capfuls of miralax in 64 oz Gatorade @ 5 pm
That's it..
Did not know you could take miralax. What i took two years ago was HORRIBLE!
So why does it say a 2 day prep when really it’s only a day prep and the procedure is the next day
Can we warm the broth?
I believe so. I mean the plain coffee would also be a hot drink and I think even warm tea will help get things moving
Us a paper funnel!! For powder!!
I have to put full 238g bottle of miralax in my bottle of Gatorade and I have to do this twice.
Me too how did it go?
@@melcoffgarcia5489 it came out at the spped of sound.
What happens if you don't have zero Gatorade and use regular
Gatorade Zero or G2 is recommended for diabetic patients. Please contact your healthcare provider if you have any additional questions.
You can have sugar. Just no red or purple coloured Gatorade or other red or purple clear juices. You can have orange or green or yellow. So you wouldn’t drink orange juice or any juice with pulp. Clear means clear. You can use soda too. Nothing red or purple. It can look like blood.
This video makes me feel more confortable with the prep …. May the Lord bless you. Thank you.
❤
@@Gagalover1569 can you drink blue
Is okay to drink orange Gatorade? I have an appointment tomar. And no I'm not mixing it. I just want Gatorade so I don't lose too much energy. I have to the Gavilyte - G solution
I have left sided hemiparesis with some spasticity that affects digestive system, from a stroke. Would these instructions still apply to me, Or how can I find out what would be the correct instructions or if a different procedure would be better first Thank you!
After adding 7 capfuls in 1 bottle, I had only 5 capfuls left for the 2nd bottle. Is it ok just to drink as is?
I have a question regarding the 6 PM MiraLAX Gatorade, can i just do that earlier in the day like after 12 PM rather than at 6 PM? I just don’t want to be up all night with the runs and would rather have it go on for the day so that way after I clean everything out, I can go right to bed and sleep hrs after. My usual bedtime is around 9 PM so that’s why. I just don’t want to be up all night cleaning my bowels out even more.
My doctor said 510g of miralax.
Cholesterol meds ok to keep taking?
can i use a different liquid other than gatorade it makes me sick not the miralax. the gatorade salty taste make me want throw up
They also say nothing blue is this light blue Gatorade ok then?
My doctor is recommending 1 gallon of PEG 3350 liquid which comes to twice the dose in this video. I am confused is to why? Please respond.
My colonoscopy is for 6 AM so what time the day before should I first take the Dulcolax and start everything?
The Miralax mixture is tasteless but I didn’t care for the thick texture yuck
Don’t do Gatorade either. It has yellow five in it artificial dye.
Ive bought the Dolocax Stool Softner is that fine????
No. My patient advisor said to be sure to purchase the Dulcolax laxative and not the stool softener. They are different products. Stool softener apparently doesn’t get the job done.
Not at all! Are you trying to soften your stool? No.
Too bad the GI staff and doctor never told me anything. She just called in PG 3350 & the instructions read use as directed.Thank goodness I did some research a few days before I’m having the colonoscopy and endoscopy on Monday 6/17/24 @ 8:30 Am That’s Stewart health care system for you & Boston is supposed to be the city of Top hospitals .Carney hospital GI is a joke
Hi i am going to have a colonspy tommorow i am 13 and 10 months old does it hurts ? I am really nervous please pray all for me
Bottoms up
low residue diet the day before is far easier for patients and outcome is identical. this is outdated information; sadly common still.
Please can you tell me why it hurt me realy bad they had to stop. Now I’m afraid to try again
Who had to stop what? You think everyone here has psychic powers!
Gay guys don’t have that problem when getting a colonoscopy, well the bottom boys in the relationship don’t have that issue.
CAn u eat bagles
No
5:45 pm Getting ready to drink my fist bottle of Gatorade 😝
My GI advised me NOT to use MiraLax, due to the risk of HypoNatremia. He prescribed Clenpiq instead.
I'm not a medical professional, but I think the reason they recommend using Gatorade is to prevent that from happening because it contains sodium and electrolytes. I used it years ago for my colonoscopy and everything went well.
I decided to try to Clenpiq this time, but even with my very good perscription plan it would have cost me $176.00. I'll stick with the MiraLax and Dulcolax!!
So, you are not going to call me?
My doctor is making me take 8 dulcolax tabs in one day did anyone else had to do so?
Two hurt!
That is ridiculous!
this was great until she never addessed when to take the other 2 dulcelex tablets...On bottle number one you take 2 of the tablets at 4:00 then drink first dose then 5 hours before surgery she says to drink the 2nd bottle but doesn't address the other 2 dulcelex tablets....This is so frustrating that any video you watch all has different info they are leaving out or adding in....Urrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Ummm she never said to take 4 Ducolax. She only said you need two tablets, and use them with the first bottle. Watch the beginning again.
What measurement do you use if your Miralax is in powder form, not liquid?
Baby the miralax is powder form. And you use the cap for measurement.
Tell the people there are pills and not that awful liquid. Why you think everyone should just automatically use the liquids is ridiculous.
i thought you got a big jug from the pharmacy?? now you have to do to this all yourself? is this health insurance providers getting CHEAP??
Believe me, you don't want have to use that big jub from the pharmacy. It's absolutely a nightmare. Like drinking over a gallon of sea water.
2 - 28 oz bottles of gatorade, hours apart, it a picnic.
why do other miralax/gatorade preps say take FOUR dulcolax?? is two really enough?
My dr has been trying to get me to get a colonoscopy..i hate her..
