Almost in the first scene with the three guys, the blue haired is Bill Paxton, a very well known actor who appeared in Titanic, Aliens or Twister, among another ones.
A classic of course. It was quite low budget but they did a lot with what they had. And of course over time it turned into the endless series, where they could just reboot it into anything they wanted. The second one was the peak, where the success of this one gave them a considerably bigger budget. The possibility for the rating difference is that back in 1984 the film rating board had not added the pg-13 get so that anything that was deemed to excessive for a pg rating was given an r rating.
Two movies in particular, "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and *Gremlins" influenced the PG-13 rating because of the frightening content (both were PG). The first film to be given that rating was "Red Dawn" .
Get ready for one of the best sequels ever made, if not the best. "I'll be back" to watch your reaction to T2! Sorry, coudn't keep myself from using the line. []:-)
and the whole police schene is missing, with the most iconic line of "I'll be back"... actually, "come with me if you weant to live" is also missing... shame.
That was a fun reaction to The Terminator, Verdy. You don't squirm in your chair and hide your eyes reacting to music. I look forward to seeing your reaction to T2.
My favorite part of this movie is that Kyle spent half of his life looking at her picture, wondering what she was thinking about, when in the end it turns out she was thinking about him.
I’m pretty sure where she lives they have a different rating system. I think she’s Canadian and if I recall she mentioned she lived in Quebec, which would be why she mentioned the 13+ rating.
Technically the X rating was a possible MPAA rating until 1990, but because of the porn industry's use of the rating, by the mid 70s, no studio would submit a film that would potentially get that rating because it would be financial doom for the film. A Clockwork Orange received an X rating in '71 and Last Tango In Paris was the last mainstream film to be released with such a rating in 1972.
An explanation of the rating system: 1) Use the F word twice and it will be enough for an R rating (other curse words are okay, as long as it isn't excessive). 2) Speaking of excessive, twice in the 1976 Bad News Bears, a kid rolls out a list of racial epithets, back then, no big deal, but use that kind of language today and you will get an R rating. 3) Bare female breasts is not enough for an R rating, but bare breasts in a sexual context will bump it up to an R rating. 4) Use of violence is a judgement call when the MPAA board watches the movie. Most of the time violence, and even gruesome violence, will only earn only a PG-13 rating. 5) A movie doesn't have to be rated by the MPAA. A film production company can skip the entire MPAA process, but that's a roll of the dice and you better have an extremely successful social media campaign to make any money on the movie. Movies have skipped the MPAA process and made bank with an UNRATED classification. 6) Europe, completely the opposite process. Nudity is no big deal in the European market. Kids can watch a movie with nudity because of the prevalence of nude beaches (and topless sunbathing in public parks and other public places) across Europe. Violence, on the other hand, and the movie will get an adult only rating. This is why Verdy was surprised at the 13+ rating.
I think American Prudery is getting worse instead of better. No skin at all in the movie Superbad, but still gross dancing scene aftermath. Compare this with Fast Times at Ridgemont High. What really stood out for me was Clash of the Titans in 81. Some brief nude scenes, but the remake of the movie, no skin at all. They even had a CGI Medusa with covered breasts! Looked like she was covered with a blindfold. Looked so gratuitous, and ridiculous I burst out laughing
23:44 "That's weird. From just a picture?" Not just a picture. Sarah Connor is a legend and she's a legend because people tell stories about her, especially her son who told him countless stories. Might be still a little weird, but doesn't everybody have a celebrity crush?
I truly thank you Mamacita for playing one of my all time favorite movies. I really, really enjoyed it so very, very much. If you can, if you would, I would appreciate it so very much if you would play "Terminator 2" (Judgement Day) and also "Terminator 3" (Rise of the Machines). Thank you so very much Mi Amor. Have a Blessed Day. Adios. PS: You got a lot of class.
The Terminator and T2 were the Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back for my generation. The Terminator is possibly the greatest "B-movie" ever made. By that i mean, it is the greatest low-budget sci-fi ever produced. Some of the effects stand out like a sore thumb. But The Terminator is still a great inspiration for future filmmakers. Cameron showed us what can be possible on a small budget and its freaking amazing. T2 on the other hand is the greatest action movie ever made. Cameron showed us whats possible once youve established yourself in the industry. And its freaking phenomenal. I mean, Linda Hamilton was so great in T2, she made Sarah Connor one of the greatest, strongest, most iconic female roles ever put on film. Her Sarah Connor is right up there with Cameron's own Ellen Ripley in Aliens and Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind.
I liked this reaction a lot. I barely remember seeing the movie in the cinema, I mostly remember the scene where the Terminator was repairing himself. Years later I watched it several times on VHS/TV/DVD. Obviously a classic. Thanks for sharing.
The point of the Credits at the beginning, was that back then most films were made to be watched in Cinemas. VHS, / Renting tapes from a shop was pretty new. So you go to a cinema, watch a film, and in the pre 70's in the UK (probably Canada too) the last thing after the film is they play the National Anthem "God save the whatever". NO ONE stayed for that. As soon as the film finished there was a mad rush for the doors. If the Credits were at the end, then you would still bugger off as soon as they started. So no one ever saw them - HOWEVER if the Credits are at the beginning, then you have no choice but to sit through them, if you want to see the film
I Like To Say : SAME HERE ! But I Remember Watching It For The First Time On Television About 40 Years Ago , I Remember They Board Cast It On Probably On ABC Or On NBC , It Was In The Mid 1980's , I Was Like 4 Years Old At That Time .
Had a good chuckle when Arnold was going surgery on himself. You said you were grossed out by it, you cover your eyes, then you sneak peeks between your fingers to watch lmao
So many awesome sci-fi movies from this era, definitely consider Predator (also with Arnold), Alien, The Fly, and The Abyss (also with Michael Biehn (Kyle Reese in this movie) and also by James Cameron).
p.s. if you want to know when beginning credits ended, I believe that was with George Lucas's first Star Wars, the original trilogy, came out, apparently the writers' union or something forced all movies to have credits at the beginning, but they didn't think Star Wars gonna gonna be a hit, so they didn't care it didn't have them at the start. When it became a hit, they sued for Lucas to put them in Empire Strikes back but the judge said since they didn't demand them in the first Star Wars, they didn't have a case any more. Something like that. p.s. 2 I personally love credits with music at the start, sets the mood as they bring you into the movie.
Deroit Become Human, It is similar in a way to "The Terminator" T-800 Cyberdyne System model 101 series cyborg. Technology has evolved to a point where human like androids are everywhere. They speak, move ,and behave like human beings, but they are only machines serving humans. Play three distinct androids and see a world at the brink of chaos - perhaps our future - through their eyes. After watching "The Terminator", you need to watch "Terminator 2" (Judgement Day), then you need to watch "Alien" (1979) & "Aliens" (1986). Few were cast in "The Terminator" like Bill Paxton (Punk Leader), Michael Biehn (Kyle Reese), and Lance Henrikson (Detective Hal Vukovich) cast in Aliens (1986). You will be immersed in watching the movies.
Having the credits and music at the beginning sets the mood of the film especially in theaters. It also gets people to stop any conversations they may be having prior to the movie starting. T2 is much better than the first.
San Francisco in California here in the U.S. has already based a law for Robots to be law enforcement , Police ! Love all your reactions, Thanks !!! 🌎✌️💖☺️
You will love Terminator 2. T1 and T2 are the story that James Cameron wrote but was too large for one movie. Terminator 2 is the greatest sequel ever (IMHO) and maybe close to if not the greatest SciFi movie. Great reaction and wish you all the best. 😄
Dearest Verdy, you have the AC/DC Live at Donnington DVD on your bookshelf! Please, PLEASE let it mean you will react to 'High Voltage' from it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great reaction to The Terminator, shame you had to cut the entire Police station scenes. You will love T2. Stay safe and well.
People that don't know American firearms law think all you have to do is walk into a store and buy whatever you want. First of all the are 20,000 firearms laws in the US (this includes state and federal). Before you can buy a firearm you must pass a background check. Finally you cannot buy a fully automatic weapon; i.e., machine gun. What is most interesting is that before 1968 anyone could mail order just about any firearm except machine guns. I remember WW2 military surplus guns for sale in magazines for as little as $12, yet there were no mass shootings and people in the poor areas of big cities like Chicago slept with the windows wide open in the summer. Those are the facts.
That may all be true, but there still gotta be smth seriously wrong, or how do you explain why all the mass shootings are almost exclusively happening in the US? No such thing here in the european country where I live. Instead we sadly have a huge problem with knifes and people getting stabbed, but that's still not as dangerous as when these psycho killers wield firearms bc you can hurt way more people way faster with these than with a knife.
@@_Shadoh_ Great question. The answer is somewhat complex and it all has to do with government. Back in the 60s our progressive government decided it was a good idea to give money to women for each child they had so long as there was no man in the house. At the same time government decided it was unfair to have people committed to institutions for the mentally ill so they closed the institutions up. Fatherless homes destabilized families and mentally ill individuals began to roam the streets. While all this was going on American culture went into the gutter. Music, video games, etc. began to emphasize sex and violence. God was kicked out of our schools (the Supreme Court actually said that the 10 Commandments had to be removed because they might influence children - Thou shall not kill was inappropriate.) Laws that used to put habitual criminals away for a long time now let them out. Put it all together and you have a more violent society and streets full of homeless mostly mentally ill people. Recently we've added a new component to violence; wide open borders where we don't know who is coming into the country. We've already identified violent gang members from Central America and Venezuela that have entered the US illegally. I believe all these things have done more....are totally responsible for the violence we see today.
Especially when you're living in h**l. The image of Sarah Connor must be sweeter than candy, more fulfilling than the canned garbage you get to eat for rations, more rewarding than anything
The Terminator's eyebrows were burned 🔥 off from the explosion just prior to his punching 👊 through the windshield to grab Sarah Connor. The look makes him more intimidating and scary. Even a bit eerie. Like he's not quite human. Almost like he's an unstoppable Frankenstein monster! -OG
Fun reaction! Love how intensely you watch and give full attention. Charming how you hide your face during intense scenes. Gremlins and Temple of Doom were the "culprits" that inspired PG 13 rating. Moms were taking kids out of the theatre left and right after certain kitchen scene in Gremlins. Parents and kids undoubtedly thought latest Spielberg creature movie was going to be all heart warming like E T, but this time with widdle fuzzy critters. ha ha
1. Linda Hamilton ROCKED. She's really built in T2. "Terminator 2 Judgement Day" is the action movie GOAT. 2. Along with Lance Henriksen/Vukovich, Michael Biehn/Reese and Bill Paxton/punk also played in "Aliens" as Bishop, Hicks and Hudson respectively. 3.We have limited AI now. So does China.😱 4. If this wasn't a movie the ammunition would not have been available on the gun shop counter. 5. Ginger's boyfriend Matt must be a lousy lay if she needs rock and roll to "rock and roll".🙄 6. Watching people react to the eye operation is worth watching this all by itself. 7. THAT'S a bitch slap.😏
Ok VERDY after seeing Terminator the first movie would say it's a horror or SYFY MOVIE OR BOTH IN ONE?. Arnold Schwarzenegger came back from the furniture in the begging of the film to kill the lead of the resistance John Corner Mother Sara Corner .
Yeah you should watch T2 also. Also James Cameron. Arnold is in it. A really good sequel. Although a bit more of an action movie instead of the horror elements in this one. T2 is much higher budget also.
I'm impressed that you've already watched "The Wizard of Oz." I'll need to check out your reaction after this. Famous movies for you see after "The Terminator" would include "Alien," "Blade Runner," "The Matrix, "Silence of the Lambs," "Tombstone," "The Shining," "Jaws," and so many more. You're going to have a lot of fun!
I noticed you watched the Godfather triple movie series by director Francis Ford Coppalla, who also did another great movie called Apocalypse Now, which I highly recommend watching because it's probably the best Vietnam War movie made without it actually being about the Vietnam War.
I only watched this because you have a T3 reaction. So I want to see your reaction to T1 and then T2 and then T3. I loved this one and am on to the next two. People that say T3 and beyond are trash. The first 2 are the best but why hate on the rest? T3 is really good as well as the very last one called Dark Fate. But the ones in between are still good movies. I hope you watch them all!
the low budget movie that accomplished EVERYTHING.as for arnold who has always played the good guy, it's strange that he broke into the cinema playing such a cult villain.. the only other negative character played by him that i can think of right now is hauser, from total recall. oh yes - and the one from batman... mr freeze?.. 😊
Arnold became a movie star with Conan The Barbarian (1984); Terminator cemented his movie star status. He was already a big deal in the body-building industry before that.
Some people say that terminator 2 is the best sequel ever made it’s good but there are other examples of sequels being better than the first… empire strikes back the two towers aliens ..
When this was released in the UK it was rated X, 18 or over. Nowadays with the likes of Saw and Hostel and all those torture porn films, anything else seems kinda tame in comparison. Keep up the good work.
dear Verdy, we would love if could react to the super classic movie called 'my science project' from 1985 or even 'the day of the jackal' from 1997 (or the very original one from 1973)
When you mentioned its rated 13+ in your country and R in....I guess the USA? I recalled the first scene when Arnold approaches the punk vandals and punches through one of them, thinking "13+? what the hell". Then you watch that scene and react with the same "what the hell" wording haha. Nice movie!

Dude, that was actually a cool comment. 😊
and the whole police schene is missing, with the most iconic line of "I'll be back"... actually, "come with me if you weant to live" is also missing... shame.
That was a fun reaction to The Terminator, Verdy. You don't squirm in your chair and hide your eyes reacting to music. I look forward to seeing your reaction to T2.
"Come with me if you want to live", "I'll be back", and "get out" became famous tag lines that people would quote and all 3 are used again in T2.
Not just from a picture, John had been talking Sarah up to Kyle ever since he met him because he already knew.
Exactly. I'm sure John made his mom out to be the greatest woman imaginable... especially while talking to Reese
My favorite part of this movie is that Kyle spent half of his life looking at her picture, wondering what she was thinking about, when in the end it turns out she was thinking about him.
Your gonna love T2
In 1984 they didn't have PG13 ratings, it was G, R, or X.
This was the best of all the Terminator films.
PG existed already. The previous ratings were G, PG, R, X. In 1984 PG-13 was added to fit between PG and R. Long long ago, the ratings were G, M, R, X
PG-13 debuted in 1984. Red Dawn was the first film with that rating.
An explanation of the rating system:
1) Use the F word twice and it will be enough for an R rating (other curse words are okay, as long as it isn't excessive).
35:27 FUCKIN FINALLY!
A detail missed by most is that Sarah doesn't drive AWAY from the storm, SHE'S DRIVING INTO THE STORM. Great symbolism.
If you watch Terminator 2, make sure you watch the Theatrical Release
The two James Cameron Terminator films (this and Terminator 2: Judgement Day) are brilliant. All the others are garbage.
23:44 "That's weird. From just a picture?"
Not just a picture.
Missed out one of the most famous lines in movie history!
14:35 Totally forgot Lance Henriksen was in this movie as well. He's also the character Bishop in the Alien movies.
I liked this reaction a lot.
I barely remember seeing the movie in the cinema, I mostly remember the scene where the Terminator was repairing himself. Years later I watched it several times on VHS/TV/DVD. Obviously a classic.
Thanks for sharing.
I like how the opening scene gives weight to kyles statement he will rip her heart out.. Brutal.
Great reaction! I'm delighted that you're doing movie reactions.
The title opening is the best ever. Dark, menacing and sad. I understand it might look cheesy today but it sets the tone for the movie perfectly.
next one is the best of all Terminator movies
Best reaction in the whole video is how French you were in response to "that coffee is two hours old"
The 13+ rating did not exist when this came out. Fun reaction.
My IMDB (BC) shows Quebec as 13+. We are listed as 14A with the rest of Canada 18A and up.
p.s. if you want to know when beginning credits ended, I believe that was with George Lucas's first Star Wars, the original trilogy, came out, apparently the writers' union or something forced all movies to have credits at the beginning, but they didn't think Star Wars gonna gonna be a hit, so they didn't care it didn't have them at the start.
To me: "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" Is the best movie of all time.
sometimes opening credit sequences is artistry in itself.
The next two sequels basically tell the whole story.
Terminator 2 Judgement Day is one of the best movie sequels ever.
It’s great when young people watch older films then they get all the references that they had no idea it’s like a lightbulb going on😂
You will love Terminator 2. T1 and T2 are the story that James Cameron wrote but was too large for one movie. Terminator 2 is the greatest sequel ever (IMHO) and maybe close to if not the greatest SciFi movie. Great reaction and wish you all the best. 😄
Maybe my favorite time travel movie. I almost walked out when he took the Xacto knife to his eye.
Arnold's outfit is so awesome in this movie, the jean jacket and fingerless gloves and boots and pants 👍
Credits before the movie started prevented people from walking out before they ran.
The second one is my favorite. I think you’ll enjoy it 👍🏼
People that don't know American firearms law think all you have to do is walk into a store and buy whatever you want.
There is nothing wrong with falling in love with someone based on 1 picture imo xD
Especially when you're living in h**l. The image of Sarah Connor must be sweeter than candy, more fulfilling than the canned garbage you get to eat for rations, more rewarding than anything
Do a reaction of Big Trouble in Little China! :) One of the best movies of all time.. Kurt Russel in his prime.
❤ yes!
“Egg : will come out no more!
Jack : What? Huh? What’ll come out no more? “
The R rating wasn't for violence. There was a nipple. US film ratings don't make a lot of sense.
So does China.😱
4. If this wasn't a movie the ammunition would not have been available on the gun shop counter.
5. Ginger's boyfriend Matt must be a lousy lay if she needs rock and roll to "rock and roll".🙄
6. Watching people react to the eye operation is worth watching this all by itself.
7. THAT'S a bitch slap.😏
"Let Reese die."
What?! 😠
You crack me up when you're trying to hide behind your hands 😂😂😂
👍👴
It WAS that easy, but remember, that was set in 1984.
"That's not normal". Bless you, Arianne!
I noticed you watched the Godfather triple movie series by director Francis Ford Coppalla, who also did another great movie called Apocalypse Now, which I highly recommend watching because it's probably the best Vietnam War movie made without it actually being about the Vietnam War.
...and now a review of terminator 2.
the best movie ever!!
Is there a more bad ass line in a movie than "Cone with me if you want to live". So bad ass this movie is.
When this came out, you had to go to a Movie Theater, or wait till it came out on VHS.
Another crazy Arnold movie is "Total Recall". You might like that one.
"Let Reese die." Haha! Savage!
I'll watch the beginning credits if it's cool and sets the mood like the Terminator
the low budget movie that accomplished EVERYTHING.as for arnold who has always played the good guy, it's strange that he broke into the cinema playing such a cult villain.. the only other negative character played by him that i can think of right now is hauser, from total recall. oh yes - and the one from batman... mr freeze?.. 😊
Arnold became a movie star with Conan The Barbarian (1984); Terminator cemented his movie star status. He was already a big deal in the body-building industry before that.
@@21stcenturyhiphop Conan is great, isn't it? The remake with Momoa was beyond pathetic though.
Cant wait for the next one!
I think in the time when this movie was in the theatres you couldn't just skip the credits ^^
You might be thinking of "Tango & Cash" Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell 😊
Some people say that terminator 2 is the best sequel ever made it’s good but there are other examples of sequels being better than the first… empire strikes back the two towers aliens ..
Cant hardly wait for #2 ! YOU will get a big kick out of it!!!
Seeing you watcing this is very different than your music reviews. Very interesting watching you react.
When this was released in the UK it was rated X, 18 or over. Nowadays with the likes of Saw and Hostel and all those torture porn films, anything else seems kinda tame in comparison. Keep up the good work.
Putting credits at the start gives people the credit they are do,at the end people dont watch it they just leave the theater or turn the movie off
For some light relief you should have a look at The Cornetto Trilogy.
dear Verdy, we would love if could react to the super classic movie called 'my science project' from 1985 or even 'the day of the jackal' from 1997 (or the very original one from 1973)
When you mentioned its rated 13+ in your country and R in....I guess the USA? I recalled the first scene when Arnold approaches the punk vandals and punches through one of them, thinking "13+? what the hell". Then you watch that scene and react with the same "what the hell" wording haha. Nice movie!
3 is my favorite.
You are very smart and keep watching 80's & 90's Movies! trust me.
I got a pair of the Nike Vandals shoes after watching this in 84👍
I’ll be back. Your facial expressions are priceless 🤣
Do all of Schwarzenegger's action movies please.
Why the hell is 13 in my country... I screamed at my TV exactly! in agreement with you lol
