There's a reason Caine keeps forgetting. As emotional and silly as he might be, he's just a computer program. What do computer programs do when they detect the problem? They fix the problem. What happens when the problem is solved? It doesn't matter anymore. Caine is already firing on all cylinders at all times, trying to keep the world itself together. He provided a solution, so he believed the problem to be fixed. So he forgot that Zoobl's problem was even an issue to begin with. Hence why when he offered the same solution again, he immediately forgot what they were talking about, because the problem has been "solved". As human as he might see, he is NOT human.

It reminds me of Bee and Loona's interaction, where it seemed like Bee was mentally incapable of finding out what was wrong wtih Loona because she's used to everyone loving her and giving her attention, but seemingly "forgot" Loona was traumatized and abused as a pup, and she was the reason Loona's fate was sealed. She tries to dance around the subject until the very end where Bee finally admits that she genuinely hopes things get better for Loona. Different ways of showing aloofness, but Loona and Zooble's characters are very similar, stoic goth girls who want people to genuinely listen to them and stop making assumptions or judging them, especially when they want her attention.

The others don't seem to have an understanding on programming or a background related to it, so they can fall in the same trappings many folks had with some a.i, treating it like a human, including societal expectations and getting confused when the subtext is ignored.
I like the fact that we see Caine actually go mask off and show genuine emotion here. Like he tries to do his usual goofy thing but the more that Zooble insists on not telling him what’s wrong and how he can rectify the problem with his adventures and the more he’s genuinely trying to remember the other conversations that he was told to forget about the more emotional he gets. He’s trying to help but he can’t and a lot of that has to do with Zooble just not understanding him and treating him correctly. Everytime they facetiously tell him to “forget it” he thinks they mean it and so he does. Him not remembering is all their fault and it’s stressing him out. Alex does such a good job conveying that in his delivery. He sounds so angry and stressed out when he’s asking what Zooble’s problem is. Like he knows there’s information he should know about but he can’t recall it and Zooble isn’t really helping him so it’s just frustrating him.
Yeah it's difficult to truly understand someone like Zooble but that ends up being the very reason types like Zooble refuse to tell anyone thier problems. Like when Caine brought out the box of parts saying "We already solved your problem", I draw the same parallels with Loona where early on, everyone hated her because they expected her to be a well behaved (and submissive) woman due to gender and social stereotypes, it'd be like saying "You know what your problem is Loona, you're goth and a b8tch and no one likes or wants to put up with that", completely ignoring the fact that she's that way BECAUSE people have treated her like that all through her childhood because they just don't like the way she is. That's why she didn't want to be adopted she's tired of being treated like the lowest class and everyone siding with society that she deserves it because of what/who she is, so she keeps to herself and refuses to tell anyone her problem. They're just going to ignore it, tell HER to change cause in thier opinion, they don't like her and think she should conform to them, or use the information against her to make people feel worse about her. This was a great way to show why people like Zooble are troubled. it's not because she's trans or gender confused like most people fetishize, it's because she's trying to figure herself out, or at least figure out where she truly belongs. The world just doesn't feel right for her, and I'm sure deep down she has the right idea of where she wants to be, but it's likely nearly impossible to reach that, so she's forced to be seen as a cynical freak instead of someone truly trying to see what she wants to be. Just like how most people see Loona. as a mean goth girl instead a troubled young adult who's sick to death of people who don't care about her thinking they know what's best for her. It's the worst feeling ever...especially coming from people you thought you could trust....

Candy Canyon Kingdom and the Mistery Mannor (the version "wow" for everyone) were enjoyable for almost every player of the circus. Spudsy's could have been enjoyable for most of them too if it weren't for Gangle's manic episode and her asking Caine to inflict punishment on people that disobey her. Guess it was necessary for Jax, but the other ones could have a more enjoyable experience.
I have a theory that Caine is already or at least starting to become sentient. We’ve only really seen Caine freak out twice; once when Pomni saw the exit in ep. 1 and now this. Notice how when it cuts back to Zooble being the therapist, he genuinely seems to be talking about sincere concerns he has about his adventures for everyone before announcing the others have returned. He didn’t have his wacky watch even though he pulled his arm up like he did. He had no way of knowing they had returned until he flew off and even noting specifically “pretend we weren’t having a therapy session” as if Caine was nervous about them finding out he cracked a little.

Yeah, but I'll theorize anyway. Reguardless, he seems to be at least a little sentient.
I mean, obviously Caine is sentient, the Circus proved it could generate sentient AI with Gummigoo, and it'd be weird if it was using more processing power on random enemies than it was its AI director, especially when he seems to be linked directly to the circus and everything in it (including aforementioned enemy AIs).

Zooble and everyone's deep seated issues are way beyond Caine's programming. He can only do adventures periodically and try to learn to make them more appealing to everyone. He tried to do an exit door, but he doesn't understand that the request involved getting them back to the real world. He doesn't understand the real world either.
2:40 so zooble gave Caine a paradox. “How can I be bad at something I’m supposed to good at?” It’s like dividing zero. It’s doesn’t make sense causing the Ai to almost crash.
You have to appriciate that Caine is trying his best to help and understand, but he is literally incapable of sitting still long enough, or comprehending on an emotional, empathetic level to do anything. Complete control over this digital world, but that doesn't mean anything if you don't know what to do with it to make people enjoy themselves, which is his supposed goal.
I don't know if I relate to Zooble in the same way most people likely do but the "not liking yourself but ALSO not knowing what you want to be" hits me in my core
Even though Caine is antagonistic, the series description states he’s a “whacky AI”. So even though he is causing his guests to go through all these adventures, he’s just following his programming. Caine is like an Anti - Villain. He has some good intentions, but his actions are pretty bad.
The Circus "abstracting" when Caine starts to zone out is pretty scary. I wonder if they will bring back this reaction. Maybe destroy the circus is the way to get out of the computer??
The reason why Caine had a mental breakdown is where zoobie thinks that Adventures is bad and dangerous to others but yet caine doesnt see it, he just wanted to make the others happy and just enjoy the adventures and zoobie doubts it. Caine is programed to make adventures to make people happy by traveling to great adventures But he realizes as Zoobie told him that his adventures is bad and he started to have a mental breakdown because thats what his program is only one thing... Adventuring Since caine is a AI, An Ai would think that Adventure is bad and it not good to anything else it would start to breakdown... But lucky Zoobie change the subject and he knocks right but to normal..
I almost completely agree. The only thing I wanna suggest is that he's not "breaking down" like you said, but just thinking harder. I imagine the circus glitching and breaking around him was just him rerouting the computing power from the circus itself to his own mind to try and comprehend the statement given to him by Zooble.
Caine reminds me of that bartender robot from Passengers who has a wide variety of abilities but cannot exceed beyond them. Kind of like how when the MC tells him that he woke up early but the robot tells him that cant be possible and then just continues on.
If Caine was designed to entertain children and be reset after each adventure (when the program gets turned off) his behaviour makes perfect sense. Zooble and everyone's deep seated issues are way beyond Caine's programming. He can only do adventures periodically and try to learn to make them more appealing to everyone. He tried to do an exit door, but he doesn't understand that the request involved getting them back to the real world. He doesn't understand the real world either.

The reason why Caine had a mental breakdown is where zoobie thinks that Adventures is bad and dangerous to others but yet caine doesnt see it, he just wanted to make the others happy and just enjoy the adventures and zoobie doubts it. Caine is programed to make adventures to make people happy by traveling to great adventures But he realizes as Zoobie told him that his adventures is bad and he started to have a mental breakdown because thats what his program is only one thing... Adventuring
Since caine is a AI, An Ai would think that Adventure is bad and it not good to anything else it would start to breakdown... But lucky Zoobie change the subject and he knocks right but to normal..
I almost completely agree. The only thing I wanna suggest is that he's not "breaking down" like you said, but just thinking harder. I imagine the circus glitching and breaking around him was just him rerouting the computing power from the circus itself to his own mind to try and comprehend the statement given to him by Zooble.

If Caine was designed to entertain children and be reset after each adventure (when the program gets turned off) his behaviour makes perfect sense.
Modern AI always becomes erratic and starts to hallucinate if you leave it running for too long. And he only notices something is wrong when a player refuses to engage with his games, because that implies he's failing his task. It's also why his only method of dealing with upset or confused players is to distract them with jokes or "a cool bee I drew." For a child that would normally be enough.
If it turns out that the “forget it” was a “Would you kindly?” that causes Caine to actually forget, that would be pretty cool.
