My father served as a med tech with the 56th AES and 10th AEG out of Yokota AB, Japan and Hickam AFB, Hawaii during the 60s and early 70s at the height of the Vietnam War. He flew mostly on the C-141 Starlifter in those days.
USAF Aeromedical Evacuation Squadrons provide care and movement of sick and injured soldiers using aircraft such as the C-130J Super Hercules which allow a larger patient load, long-distance transportation, and a greater ability to care for the seriously injured.
