oh the goliaths....ohhhhhhhhh the goliaths.... reminds me of an arcade in dundee that had a whole wall filled with beautiful goliath cabs!! Cant wait to visit in october!
I know what you mean. The dedicated cabs were mostly fantasy albeit a few turtles and x men etc. But arcades back in the day were mostly generic Goliath cabs in which operators just have to change the pcb boards inside and change the marquee. Simple and very nostalgic to see here.

I must go there, I miss the arcades of years gone by, the ones today aren't the same anymore. Is Flying Shark there, its my all time favourite.
I don't think they have that in the Blackpool one although it might be in Bury as that venue has a lot more machines.
I know what you mean regarding modern arcades, they're all 2p falls & ticket machines! Just not the same anymore ☹️
@@RetroOrBust and not a pinball machine anywhere, i've not seen one for years. I really must go to one of the Arcade clubs to play these machines again, I would be in heaven even though its one hell of a drive from where I live in Norwich. I've got all these games on mame emulation but its not the same as playing on the original machine. It would take me back to my youth. Great times.

I went yesterday.
I've only ever been to the Bury one beforehand
(but never Leeds).
Personally, I felt there were much fewer machines available vs Bury.
There were still a great deal compared to what you'd see anywhere else, but compared to Bury it felt lighter. Why is this important?
Because the price for both is the same. £16 for Bury feels about right based on the volume of machines and just how overwhelming it all feels. Blackpool doesn't feel quite the same in that respect. Granted, if you've never been to Bury, you'd know no different, but for those that have, I think they'll notice.
Interesting to see, what looks to be, many of Bury's machines in Blackpool. I wonder if they've downsized Bury as a result or replaced them? 🤔
Bury has the advantage of all those floors, whereas Blackpool is just the one. I'm not sure if they moved some machines from Bury. I know they imported a lot just for Blackpool.
As for the price, I still think it's not too bad as you can stay all day. To think how much I must have spent in arcades 30 odd years ago on Star Wars & Turtles alone! 😂
The one classic game i would love to see would be an R360 but they are as rare as hens teeth
Now that's one machine I never played. It was a fortune to play & I never had the guts to try it! 😂
@@RetroOrBust it was not that much they had one on central pier in Blackpool it was only £1 a go i know most of the other games were about 20p a go but it was a well spent pound. I loved it.
@@cliffcook3993 yeah, they had that up until the early 00's when I lived in Blackpool I think. There was never anybody manning the controls though when I went in.
@@RetroOrBust there wasent when i went, i just went to the chainge box and they got the operator to come over.
Impressive….most impressive, so many proper CRT cabinets, seen too many “retro bars” using LCDs! Good reason to visit Blackpool.
I can wait to come here in a few weeks time I'm gonna feel like a kid all over again it looks amazing!

I'm glad it's got more space dedicated to the restaurant area. The other arcade clubs, particularly Leeds don't have enough room to sit and eat food.
i will be there once i get back from spain in 4 weeks, and will live stream a 1cc game of 1942 as my first play at the amazing Arcade Club Blackpool
They got any of the Metal slug games at all? They were my favourites back in the day :)
I didn't see any at Blackpool but I think they have some Neo Geo cabs at the Bury Arcade Club.

Great video, thanks for the tour. My friends and I live near the Bury AC and we've been going since the days when it was only one floor. We're visiting the Blackpool arcade in a few weeks. It may not be anywhere the size of Bury, but it still looks fun!
By the way, do they always have all the lights on like that or was that just so you could film?
No, they have the lights switched off when it's open now. When I was filming they were still setting things up so had the lights on.

Been going since it first opened, cant beat the place, seen a few machines come and go being the tester easily find faults on machines
We went on New Year's Eve. Spent 7 hours straight playing the classics!
