    A lot of great work again. This video was a fantastic reference for my daughter in law to fast track all the features and functions of the seat configurations and all the little surprises and options. Their design and focus on customisation in this era was incredible for its time. Our car culture is all about compliance theirs is on the customer experience.

    This was so good! I’ve been looking at so many different van options and saw a few of these listed. They look really nice and are quite inexpensive in comparison to other vans. I keep looking for the catch. So far all I can find is the fuel economy. I love all the little hidden compartments. I would never have known most of them were there even if I owned one. This van has just made it to the top of my list!

    Why Nissan never sold this in the UK is a mystery. Even with the big petrol engine, the styling and comfort would have been unequalled. Who wants a smoky rattley diesel anyway. Will be looking for one shortly.

    a bit jealous about those folding back seats 😉 in my company car T6.1 van, you could, in theory, remove the rear bench. if you happen to have a fork lift lingering about in your garage, as the rr bench is said to weigh appx 200lbs, so you can't remove it very easily. seats can be shoved along some rails, though, and the back rest folded to give some generous luggage space. but that Elgrand seems to be lightyears ahead in sophistication ....

    Great Video thanks , I have an XL and as you say has a few additional features such as the 'moon roof' , but the seat configurations are pretty much the same - love our Ellie cant see why they are not more popular given all the features and comfort that it provides. Thanks again for the video

    • @ToTheGarage
      @ToTheGarage  2 роки тому

      Hi Pixelvid. Unlike the number one UK grey import (Eunos) most petrol heads will never get to experience the joy of an Elgrand. Thats because if you are not in the know, its a fwd van and probably diesel.

    Thanks for this. I am researching my next purchase (which will be second hand as usual) and want it to be something that easily becomes a sleeper but also can be a people mover *and* transport furniture items at the drop of a hat.
    I thought I was looking for a unicorn!
    And the best thing is these are "cheap as chips", second hand here in Australia.
    My short list so far was Toyota Rukus and Kia Carnival/Grand Carnival (both of which my mechanic has approved - but only the larger L motor Kias).
    Now I am going to be asking him about the Elgrand. It just bullied its way onto the list and straight to the top!

    Hi. Fantastic video. Really well made and extremely informative. I didn't know half of that stuff! Thanks for taking the time to film and upload it.
    A couple of questions: the rear remote controls for audio/visual and heating/ventilation - where can you get the words on the buttons in English?
    Also, you mentioned the 110v inverter in the back can easily be changed to 240v. Can you provide anymore information on that?
    Thanks again.

    Thanks for taking the time to show us this great vehicle. We had a delica, its very similar in seat Configurations, it was a great vehicle. We now have apug 5008 mk1 face lift. Its interior is rubbish in
    Comparison, it has sharp edges, rear floor bins have carpet lids which have collapsed, the seats don't slide or move m tilt easily. Etc etc. That's over 20 yrs later and imo still the euro manufacturers have no nothing to compare with Japan innovation on interiors.

      From the tailgate to the back of the front seats, it’s about 2 metres or 6ft 6in , take all the rear seats out, put a r&r bed in, and fridge sink cooker etc… down one side, and you’ll be sorted! Whatever you can do in a VW T4/5 you be able to do in an Elgrand.

    • @ToTheGarage
      @ToTheGarage  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Daniel👍. I think you could fit an aftermarket drop-down screen if you can find one in an appropriate size to fit the gap between the two sunroofs I doubt an original would fit, as its flush to the headlining and I believe your headlining will be different in profile due to the sunroofs.

    • @mpatherton

    Hello. I am seriously considering buying one of these in the near future to accommodate our 8 person family. Whats the reliability like on them? Are parts easy enough to get for them? I am sturggling to find anywhere that comprehensively goes over what these are like to live with and would really appreciate some insight.

    • @ToTheGarage
      @ToTheGarage  Рік тому +1

      Hi Josh.
      The known reliability issues most associated with these beauties, appear to be:-
      Wheel bearings (as experienced by me)
      Fuel gauge issues
      Catalytic converters breaking down.
      The engines are well proven and relatively unstressed thanks to the Auto gearbox.
      It can be challenging to find nice examples that have not been lowered and blinged up. But its one of the more popular Grey imports to the UK.
      True Grey imports will always be harder to find parts and specialist assistance for than domestic products. (by true grey import I exclude for instance the mazda euros that is just a jdm variant of a uk available product)
      But they are reasonably well served with online forums and specialists.
      For me the sole reason to move my on was the fuel consumption

    • @joshwaterfield2483
      @joshwaterfield2483 Рік тому +1

      Thanks for your response. It sounds like I might have to make friends with some people in certain circles to make ownership easier, if I go for one. With regards to fuel consumption, what are we talking? I am expecting something outrageous like mid to low twenties😅

      There is no easy way around it Marty. Im good at driving economically, and mine is in good condition. 28 Mpg is the best anyone should realistically expect on a good long run of Motorways and or Dual carriageways. 23Mpg is a realistic everyday estimate if you are not thinking about economy.

      Get one that's converted to LPG, less than half the price of petrol, if you can find a stockist that is.

    • @derekshanks950

      The 2.5 is just as thirsty as the 3.5, but nowhere near as powerful, the best recourse is to have it converted to run on LPG, which is less than half the price of petrol, but make sure it's available near where you live first, a lot of stations are no longer stocking it, especially Shell and BP.
