I just accepted it as a generic row of cubicles where non-distinct work was done, but the idea of it being the office of a basic culture journalism site, where Paul works as the movie review guy makes so much sense and further justifies that one line where he asks Emma if she's into films. Also, we could've seen what everyone else's specialties were, which would give them all "a thing". Ted would probably be the one who writes whatever it is assholes like to read about. I don't know if the better joke here is sports or business, though.

im almost wishing these made it in! i mean, i love the changes to emma's lines (especially taking out the "schizo" stuff, but i loved the "normal person, everyone else" line), but i also love the long banter from paul, and i wouldve loved the extra bits of paul's job before the meteor!! without them though, the musical is s o l i d, so i suppose it made for a more tied together musical!
I love this! I feel like this is a bit closer to what Paul was really like before he got plonked into a musical, or at least what he'd be like in a more down-to-earth and serious kind of setting. It's cool to see that side to him.
