    Mind blown by this video. I always wondered the differences between the three motors which I'll tell you now 99.99 percent of barber's will not know this. This was such an excellent presentation. It's only about Clippers but one of the best presentations I've ever seen. I'm a UX designer and I'm learned from this wonderful video.

    I'm justy trying to buy a clipper for at-home use, and I've got the technically-inclined mind-set, and have been trying to sift through the advertising & marketing bull. THIS video, was ABSOLUTELY perfect for me! Helps me investigate further, and understand why are there so many clippers! Thank you!

    (Polish) W Europie jest 50 Hz, 50 x 2 x 60 = 6000 ruchów noża,
    In Europe it is 50 Hz, 50 x 2 x 60 = 6000 knife moves
    Silnik rotacyjny można zbudować na różną moc i obroty. The rotary engine can be built to varying power and revolutions. Silniki magnetyczne (elektromagnes) są większe, ciężkie i bardziej się grzeją. Magnetic motors (electromagnet) are bigger, heavier and warmer. To ogranicza ich moc. This limits their power in clippers. Ale ich żywotność może być o wiele większa. But their vitality can be much greater. Nie mają łożysk i komutatora. They do not have bearings and commutator. Silniki rotacyjne są nie do zastąpienia w akumulatorowych maszynkach do strzyżenia. Rotary motors are not a substitute for battery clippers.

    Great explanation! Can you comment on the meaning of torque versus speed regarding clippers? I've seen a lot of explanations regarding cars but it doesn't make sense to me in regards to clippers. Thank you!

      I’m not as smart as him but I would assume the benefit of higher torque would mean the stronger follow through of the blade on a cut

    How can one tell the difference between a magnetic and a pivot without opening it up or measuring the blade speed?

    • @jasexavier
      @jasexavier 5 років тому +2

      Magnetic clippers tend to be noisy, making a buzzing sort of sound. Pivot motor clippers tend to be much quieter and make more of a deep humming sound.

    "Magnetic" are the worst. The problem is the design. The spring simply wears out over time then the arm starts hitting things so you have to tighten the spring but that reduces the motion of the blade and eventually it just doesn't cut. I wonder if you can buy replacement springs.
