ya we have a rop program i am in i was planning on getting a 2 year degree thing in fire science will they let u work then go to school then come back in summer and work again?? thanks
Yes, your local state probably has a Type II AD crew that may get deployed to assist with Western fires. I'm from the East Coast and I started on a Type II AD crew, as it's all that's really available here. Then I got on a USFS crew in California. If you really want to be a wildland firefighter you'll want to look for a spot on a crew out West, though. It's the best job in the world - you'll never be more happy or more miserable. Lol.
I was on a Type II AD Crew on the East Coast for 2 years before I began working for the US Forest Service in California. It definitely helped me later on - not only in getting hired, but in knowing a good bit about the job. A USFS Crew will normally limit the amount of rookies they can take on at one time.
LOL! WTF is with the music? The Anericans I have fought with listen to a bit different kind of music! ;-) Been down south fighting with you all,....and have been privileged to have met dozens of you who came to Canada to assist when we needed help! Started years ago on the ground and now am upstairs with the bombers! As 2015 rolls around,....again,....let's ALL have a safe one!
