- So a Sonic Generations Remaster (or remake) is apparently not only in the works, but to be annouced THIS WEEK at a State of Play according to multiple sources. We know SEGA has been invested in re-releases over the years, so Generations getting the treatment is definitely not a surprise. Let's read and discuss!

Studiopolis,frozen factory,Speed Jungle and Ego city would be interesting but those other ones i don't know man Ares Island is an OPEN WORLD but it would be interesting to see Starlight zone,emerald hill,Pinball carnival, Red Mountain, Sunset hill, skyscrapper scamper,dragon Road and Dream Factory theese are real stages to be modernized.
@@alternatesonicgameplays3851to be fair, Ares Island could just be a standard desert stage. Sonic could just run a circle around the island, split into 2D and 3D sections. Heck you could have a set piece where Wyvern appears near the end of the stage and you gotta avoid attacks from it or whatever

Nah as long as it isn’t Blind Squirrel I think we’re solid. The only thing that’s definitely gonna be bad is its monetization, all the Mission Stages are gonna be bundled in bullshit “Fun Pack,” “Music Mix Pack,” “Classic Collection Pack” like they did with Origins.
Y'all need to stop focusing on Blind Squirrel and focus on the people hiring them. Sonic Origins had problems too and that clearly wasn't Stealth's fault.

Generations is one of the best games in the entire series. Even the best boost formula game in my opinion because of the refined level design and controlls. Many people like it anyway but a remake might change the general view of it if it's done badly. I hope the remake will do it justice honestly!

@@Gnidel I think the best classic game is either mania or sonic 3 but classic Sonic in gens was great too. He's the best playable classic iteration in a 3D game in my opinion though. Honestly both classic and modern Sonic were really good in Generations! Both had some of the best level design and controlls in the series!

I was not expecting a Sonic Generations remake this soon why not remake or remaster Sonic Adventure 1,2 Heroes, and 2006 first. Sonic Generations really just needs to run more efficiently on modern councils and I am worried they might turn it into another Sonic Colors Ultimate. If Sonic Generations does get this remake remaster they should add a level from Shadow The Hedgehog, Sonic And The Secret Rings, and Sonic And The Black Knight.
Its a near perfect game. Just fix the input lag and that’s it. It really just needs an update and DLC.
I’m moreso just annoyed that it’s always a classic or meta era game getting ports and remasters. Being a fan of the Shonen Era (98 - 09) feels like child neglect 😭😂

@@FireLordKryll I don't think they hired anyone, kishimoto said the updates were made by about 60 people just like iizuka said before the announcement, and there is no new names in the credits. They just improved their skills on game design. But it doesn't matter, even If current Sonic team was able to replicate perfectly, they were busy with frontiers and their next game so they couldn't work on it

From a fan perspective, I still don’t really see the point of a Gens Ultimate at the moment since it’s still playable on PC and Xbox at a very acceptable quality, and games like SA1&2, Heroes, and Unleashed are much more deserving of remasters. But from a business standpoint, I guess this is another SCU situation where they’re remastering gens due to its positive reception. It’s another safe bet for a remaster, while any other game would be a risk.
it barely boots up on pc without tinkering with it in any capacity. remember the infamous "current configuration doesn't match the hardware" error or something along those lines? yeah, i had to fix that multiple times, and each time it took an hour AT LEAST. (the "delete .cfg and rerun config tool" trick DID NOT work)
i don't see this as very acceptable, even if the game still runs good after you deal with booting issues.
remember, this is just my opinion, not trying to change anyone's mind
@@ramenishNever heard of this, and I've played Sonic Gens from the crappiest of laptops to the best for my standards at least.
The one thing that I think should definitely be considered for this remake by Sega, is DLC content like new stages and extra playable characters. It was a crime that Sonic Generations never received any kind of downloadable content.

I can imagine those ones being provable if you did research, and maybe even the colors one, sense the first thing I think of is the lack of a very in depth story, something the adventure games had in spades.

Edit: Though..this would be HUGE potential for them to add completely new levels from the past, stuff that never got used in generations for example Hydrocity (Do not start a war)
There a bunch of levels in Sonic's history from 06, Heroes, adventure, adventure 2 that they can add as extra content in this ultimate...but this Sega we are talking about, of course they WON'T do any cool shit.

To the people who think Sonic Generations Ultimate will succeed: You don't know how little shits SEGA gives about the quality of a Sonic remaster. They WILL rush it, just like they did with DX, Genesis, Battle, and Colors Ultimate. SEGA does NOT give a shit. I would love to be wrong, god I would love to be wrong. But I'm skeptical.
Interesting, so they might add levels from the new games to Generations. There might be a level from Lost Word, Forces and Frontiers. They might even add Giganto as the final boss before Time Eater. And either the Deadly Six or Infinite could be the rivals of that era. 🤔
I feel like it really does just need a new port, maybe with HD textures, same with Unleashed, it still looks great.
What I'd REALLY like to see is for them remaster all the 3DS content. If they're adding games released since then, then I feel like it has to be a Gaiden story that's set after Frontiers, so you'd get something from Lost World, Forces and Frontiers. There's very little meat in there though so is there any point? It'd be interesting to see them do a linear stage based on one of the Frontiers Islands, but I don't see it.
What they COULD add in is a Superstars stage but in 3D.
Another possibility is Sonic Prime tie ins - it would make a lot of sense potentially. Like DLC or a side story where because of the Time Eater Sonic gets jettisoned back into Shatter space and you get to run through Boscage Maze or New Yoke City.
I don't have any faith in SEGA's ability to deliver with this port. And I think Zippo's comments only make things more concerning.
If this is being imported to an entirely different lighting engine, then that means we're probably gonna be seeing shoddily reinterpreted lighting and visuals done by a team that didn't have the same artistic vision.
If they're building it up from the ground up, there's no telling how many issues may arise; we'll probably be seeing glitches wholly unique to this new version.
Also, as others have mentioned, SEGA has an awful history of remastering games. They fumbled Colors Ultimate, Origins, SADX, and Sonic Genesis for Game Boy Advance. I don't trust SEGA to make remasters after so many botches. And I know SEGA is trying to improve the quality according to Zippo, but that's about as much of a nothing statement as when they said they were aiming for high review scores for Frontiers.

The best possible way to improve Generations is just to remove the cutscenes tbh
With some games the line between remaster and remake gets blurred, I think this upcoming version of Gens might qualify as both, if they're reusing the same assets, which they should since Gens holds up, then it is a remaster, though they could upscale the textures so it looks nicer.
Now if they're porting it to another different engine fron the ground up then it may also count as a remake but I don't see then making too many changes since again, it holds up.
I don't wanna get my hopes too up but this shouldn't be too hard since the PC version is atill functional, so I don't see that much room to mess it up, this is opposite to Colors which was a Wii exclusive.

"Shadow of his Generation" pointing towards a gens remake makes no sense. Just being able to play as Shadow doesn't seem like enough, unless he has some kinda unique moves or something. Sure it would be neat having a 3rd playable character, but again, a remaster just for a playable Shadow makes no sense.
Imagine they have the old Skrillex EDM Music from the Original Gens Trailer lol.
I love Gens, but why does it need a remaster? Especially if this is the year of Shadow? Maybe you get to play as Shadow in Gens in this version but like…idk, could we put some effort into remaking making games that are actually hard to get our hands on.
Like maybe an Adventure Games Era collection,
With Sonic Adventure to Shadow with some of the side games as DLC’s or something like Rivals, Rush and Rush Adventure, etc.
You know to generate hype for Sonic Movie 3 which is going to be about Sa2 and actually make some old games accessible to newer fans.
Generations is just such a weird choice to me.
Sonic Generations needs a next gen remaster/port for a game that is highly recieved and well known on the newest consoles. No way to play it on PS4/5, Switch and Series X (Kind of). It's an easy cash grab for Sega to release.
I don't know why people keep asking this question tbh. Generations didn't even run at 60fps on consoles (minus Xbox boosting old games), and it's capped at 60fps on PC, it's a dated game. And now Switch 2 is coming, so no better time to bump up the game for a new audience.

But like, idk I don’t think it does much for the Sonic brand. Maybe it’s just me but if we’re trying to introduce new Sonic fans to the Sonic world, Gens isn’t a good game for that imo it’s a collection of Sonic levels without much context.
Would it not be better to port older games first, and then Gens?
That way any new fans who play Gens will be interested and go back and play the earlier ports

I don’t mean that disrespectfully. But to me a game capping at 60 even 30 has never bothered me in the slightest. As long as it’s smooth, and to me, Gens looks smooth, I really don’t care.
Same with any other Sonic game or game in general, unless it’s stuttering I legit can’t see the difference in that type of stuff.
There are Sonic games that are way harder to get your hands on without emulating that I would rather be ported first than Gens is my point.
And as it’s brought up on Twitter, AND THIS VIDEO, there’s already the fear that the remaster is going to be worst than what we already have.

Og Generations Delisted from Steam, Switch version ends up buggy and running at 30fps, and Some content will probably be locked behind a paywall via Digital Deluxe as usual.

Wish this was unleashed but given that the movie is gonna put a big spotlight on sonic again make sense is generations. I always thought unleashed looked better than generations, and it’s a let down that even the PC version is still watered down. But cannot wait for HE2 generations! I’m just hopping we don’t get the weird lighting forces suffered from and more of the motion blur, and lighting from frontiers. Also the shadow content is gonna be hype!!!! Hopefully adds something to the terribly shallow story
Hopefully they add in some extra content actually worth investing into at least. I felt like Origins and colours had pretty average extra content.

If this is a remake then hopefully they give Classic Sonic a voice actor. Either Jaleel White or see if Roger Criag Smith can voice a 12 year old Sonic.

Id want shadow with some episode shadow style dlc, online races, 144fps, and just more content overall. it will be sad all my mods from the original game wont work
Im pretty hype, this the best 3D boost sonic game besides Unleashed. They just gotta do justice with this remaster.
Imagine they add more characters you have to free?! I mean.. they have the chance to! This is their chance to bring characters back! Like sticks, marine, vanilla, orbot or cubot, the babylon rouges, mighty and ray (in modern form) zavok, even bean or bark!

Generations graphics are definitely dated lmao, still a good looking game, but graphics have moved a lot in 13 years

Frontiers barely improves upon Generations graphics, not saying any of the games look bad but just compare Frontiers Green Hill to Generations Green Hill, they look basically the same except for lighting and maybe higher quality textures, definitely not something remaster worthy.
@@GuilhermeKitten Cyberspace was undercooked and I can still see graphical enhancements. Graphics and art syle aren't the same. If you pull up an image of Kronos Island in 4K next to Generations in 4K the difference is night and day.

That introduction really was unique but really set the tone for the depressing news and rumors of the most universally loved Sonic game in over a decade getting an “Ultimate” edition, meanwhile Colors Ultimate was extremely meh and couldn’t even be bothered to include the DS version in some fashion to be playable. The Megaman Zero/ZX Collection managed to include GBA and even DS games to be played on modern hardware, I’m just Saiyan!
Hopefully we got an unleashed remake or something soon after this I doubt but it’s the thought that counts

Why can’t SEGA do a remaster/remake of a game that actually needs one like Sonic Heroes? I get it, Sonic Generations is one of the most beloved games in the franchise, like literally everyone loves that game. I love that game too, it’s one of my top 10 favorite Sonic games overall. But, does it really need a remake? It already has a PC version and I can play it at 4K 60 fps on my Xbox Series X. Then again, PlayStation players can’t play it unless they have a PS3 and Nintendo players can’t play it unless they have the 3DS version. If it’s literally just the exact same game but with Hedgehog Engine 2 instead of 1 graphics, I’m not buying it. But, if they make some really big changes like adding a bunch of new levels, redoing the story, and fixing the ranking system so it’s not so ridiculously easy, then I’ll consider buying it on Switch so I don’t have two different versions of Generations on the exact same console.

It would be nice to play gens on switch. I suppose if this is true, we'd get an extra era. So if so I'd love to see silent forrest zone, something mania and I suppose eternal highway from Frontiers, and then Infinite rival boss and then maybe a wyvern boss fight remake.
Honestly, I'd much prefer a remake of the Gamecube-era games since they need it the most. Sonic Generations has aged pretty well both graphically and mechanically. I think if they're ever going to remake SA1 + SA2, it'll be in time for the movie whose plot is based off it. Beyond that, I doubt it'll ever happen at this point
Im really really hoping this gens remaster goes better than colours ultimate. Which it probably should considering that it wasn't a Wii exclusive game.

I am pretty nervous about Sonic Generations Remaster. Then again I can just play the original on xbox one. I do have an Xbox one after all.

I hope generations is more than 8 hours tops which makes it for even more replayability, but hey mods exist.
It kinda bothers me whenever Sonic fans blame Blind Squirrel for the way Colors Ultimate turned out, they made an excellent remaster of the first Borderlands game and did a fantastic job at remastering the Bioshock and Mass Effect trilogies. Judging by their track record, i cant help but think Sega were at fault for how Colors Ultimate turned out

If they do remaster it, I hope they remake the 3ds stages and keep PS3 (Xbox) stages intact. Better yet, leave it as it is.
