- Welcome to Toro Animation! The Channel where we make our own anime together from scratch! In this week’s episode, let’s see a test shot I created to see if we can even make an anime in Blender, using 3D techniques!

this is so cool i love how if somebody is passionate enough the are able to make a whole movie or show without Hollywood connections something like this probably wouldn't have been possible 10 or 20 years ago, keep on going this is gonna turn out so good

I agree! 2D animation has this magic touch that 3D just doesn't have for me. Nothing against 3D for realistic stuff, it's just that the tech is way better at that than trying to make cartoons look like 2D with all the fancy effects. The current technology just falls flat for NPR, and we have to struggle to find solutions.

What people don't tell ya though, is for feature 3d projects that look great, the computer isn't driving every decision. A team of artist are manually and creatively adjusting every frame to look beautiful. Tech demo's are often just that, and it falls on animators and CFX artists (and everyone else) to make 3D work look great.
The same applies for 2D! And if you're going to hand adjust every frame, that human 2D touch is the magic ingredient :) At least for me

When I was making my little game in Unreal and using MetaHumans with mocap animation, the standard results were pretty good. But when I tried anything with a 2D look, the standard results were always awful ^^
But, yes! I agree with you. My 2D tests are much better when I approach them like traditional 2D animation. Instead of using stepped animation in Blender, I treat the rendered 3D images as individual cel frames and assemble them in Pencil2D. But, aw, how I'd like this process to be automated.

the only issue is the body is completely stiff compared to everything else. its like looking at a cardboard cutout wearing pants
Oh yeah for sure, if you're watching the series you'll see me explain how when I started, I intended this shot just to be a static test frame to begin with, then upgraded it to a test shot with a few adjustments.
So when we get to step 3 or 4 we'll tackle a shot with proper dynamic animation.
That being said, I've seen plenty of more static frame shots in actual shows hahaha. So I'm sure this gets the slide for the first test!

Yo what about dubbing for other characters ur not gonna just do an anime with one character right?
Good question! Dubbing is one of those challenges we'll have to address!
There'll be lots of characters, so we'll need a list of voices for sure :)
bro please change the character voice to something deep
and dont use adobe podcast to clear your mic it sounds robotic and the algorithm might think you are an ai and your videos wont get recommended as much because of all the people who use ai voice for shorts as youtube thinks you are like them
