Ben showed more passion and emotion in one ball game than Gleyber Torres has shown in his whole fucking career.

But I give Torres some credit because he actually played pretty well on the day of his injury - finally running hard.

@@BoogieBoyBrown that top hundred is hype safe picks. If you talk to scouts it's not a real good indication of projection to MLB. You have to actually watch players play. There's things that stats don't explain. There are certain types of hitters and players with hit skills you need to have a well rounded line up.

The clubhouse psychology of having a rookie or two in it is invaluable in my opinion. The rookie(s) bring energy and a focus on basics, a positive energy and attitude the veterans cannot ignore. Accordingly, having at least one rookie in the clubhouse is a necessary strategy... especially one such as Ben Rice.

Ben Rice is there to stay. His metrics in the minors said ready. K/BB ratio and Babip # are the signature stats that project the other stats will be comparable to minor league #. K/BB that close to 1/1 and Babip at .301. He doesn't chase and has a plan when he's hitting. He doesn't have an obvious hole in his swing because he adjusts based on the type of pitcher he's facing. Watched him in the minors about 10 games over the last two years. He'll hit and adjust. He is never going to strike out a lot .

When Rice first came up they pitched him outside. Ben hit the ball to CF & took his walks. They decided to try to get him out inside & he hit 4 bombs. Slumps are short if Ben is willing to take what they give him. Volpe doesn't do that.

I hate Boone but the decision to slide Volpe down was much needed and I’m glad they didn’t force Volpe at leadoff all year. He is way too fast to not have at least the same sb’s as the top guys in baseball. I truly think 9 is the perfect spot for Volpe. Truly wish they’d just do that for rest of year. Great way to turn over the lineup. No shame batting 9, unless you make it so

    1. Jorbit Vivás 2B
    2. Aaron Judge RF
    3. Juan Soto LF
    4. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 3B
    5. Jassan Dominguez DH
    6. Agustin Ramirez C
    7. Ben Rice 1B
    8. Anthony Volpe SS

Only reason I have Martian DHing and not Soto is because Soto said he doesn’t want to DH
