Hey guys just wanted to let you know that the carburator adjustments have been updated to the same as the original tornado head so if you do change the head for the xc version keep at 1+15 for the high and 1 for the low. If I hear any updates I'll keep everyone posted!
I starting my training next week(with Kyle O) and I've been looking at the Tornado 280 for a while. I'm waiting until after my training to make a final decision, but this sounds like good news. I would live to compare the specs between the XC and original, but I'll guess I'll have to wait.
I've been flying the xc for about 5 hours now and I must say I love it! If vibration and smoothness is something that concerns you I'd suggest getting the xc over the original head if you have the choice. I saw a tornado basically new pop up on Facebook for 7k which is about 2k off the new price. Something to consider for you
Just a different head. You should be able to purchase it from the website soon is what I hear. It's quite a lot smoother than the original and you get better fuel economy supposedly I have yet to confirm that part but I do like it quite a lot better
Does anybody know(!) about fuel consumption per hour of the Tornado 280 with XC head vs. Nitro 200 (both at level flight/same pilot/wing etc.)? I have 95kg naked and can't decide between the two...
I will have to do a check but I'm positive the nitro is more fuel efficient but a lot less power. More reliable than the tornado but not as much fun. As far as actual fuel consumption I'd have to check and see what the numbers are. Perhaps a future video I could do that
I'm just under 80kg so I'd definitely suggest the tornado for you. If not the tornado get a moster 185. They are heavier but a bit smoother and a little less powerful. The moster is in between the nitro and tornado as far as power goes
Thanks for your quick answer! Greetings from Germany 😀 Maybe somebody else has already done some measurements/comparisons? I'm not so keen on a lot of power, more reliability and longer fuel endurance (if so...🙄) would still make me buy the nitro. So far I was even happy with my old 100cc liquid cooled Sky Engine but I didn't like its weight of 30kg w/o any fuel...
Ya I've replaced mine many times You really gotta get the hi and low mix screws dialed. For me I do one full turn plus a quarter turn on the hi side and just one full turn on the low side. I run 60:1 with amsoil sabre. Be sure to check your plug often and the tightness of the head bolts
@@GrahmDettling it's not the carb setting ,I believe. The plug is perfect coffee brown colour , still temp.go over 220degreeC(when I do agressive flying with my 16m wing). Now I fitted a cooling shroud ,then temp droped around 200.
That's the setting the owner of the company told me to set it at. I'm actually slightly richer than he said just because I wanted to error on the side of caution

The Tornado has a reputation of "breathe on the throttle, get face planted". Does the new cylinder head smooth that out any?
Appreciate all the Tornado details. Have been considering moving to it.
Do you have any public links to the XC version?
www.airconception.com/store this is the link to the page for ordering parts but I'm not sure the xc head is available yet
So what is the difference with the Tornado XC from the base Tornado? I like new stuff. :)

Who would be the best AC dealer that you would recommend please?
sorry for the late response I didn't see your message id say midwest ppg in Indiana but I'm hoping you bought one already

I had to replace the cylinder and piston under 35hrs on tornado. not happy.

@@xaviert6804 hmm I don't know I have never put a cooling shoud on mine but perhaps I should.
Drew Barrymore!
Thanks I was super confused lol
Middle name is Blythe, so there’s that…….
Slightly lean on lower rpms.
