Its nice to see someone who can't do it being taught as opposed to someone who can showing you, it shows how difficult it actually is :)
I agree! Most people that can bunnyhop well don't know how they do it anymore as it becomes automatic.
hahah yes exactly! good point
For sure! It's quite refreshing to see how you can progress the bunny hop into a more fluid motion. It really helps to show someone progressing to that stage! 👍
She’s a competitive rider. Of course she can bunny hop.
Can I do it with a hardtail?
I'm 85kg fat.
Is it ok?
More of Martin and his "How to" videos please! Brilliant teacher!
Thanks, Jordan! We'd love to make more videos just like this!
@@gmbn please try to convince him (and a test subject) to do a rear wheel balance video. Would be great to see him teaching how to balance on the rear wheel, since that's kind of a mainstay of all things trials
Martyn’s way of positive encouragement really makes me feel like he can teach anyone to enjoy the sport/ hobby so much more. The world needs more people like him. 👏
A role model for everyone.
That's about the best bunnyhop vid I've seen! Superior instruction. A student who didn't have to act poorly. True progression. I can't wait to see the manual vid with these two!
Glad you enjoyed it, Steven! We took a fresh approach to this video to show how the bunny hop can be learnt by anyone. Thanks for the support!
As a beginner MTBer, hearing Anna go “I’m going to die!” reminds me so much of my recent rides! I guess there’s always an element of fear regardless of how experienced you are.
@Cristian G thanks for the encouragement! I’m just hitting the trails and doing my best! I do feel more confident every week so hopefully I’ll get there soon! BTW, watch out for the other person who replied to my comment. They aren’t really GMBN and tried to scam me out of some money, pretending to send me an iPhone, a MacBook and a bike as long as I paid them for shipping! Knew it was as soon as they wrote bike last!

Love Martyn’s simple instructions. Easy to understand and practice. More like this please!
Martyn = Insane Knowledge 😂
Great video 😃❤️ Martyn is the best to explain it in an easy way ! I love it ❤❤
We agree! Thanks for the support, Anita! It's always great to see your comments! 🙌
Martin is such a great teacher. Patient, kind, and the most important funny!
That was the best bunny hop lesson I've watched. Anna was fantastic and Martyn's whole approach to instruction was the best there has been on the youtube. I hope there are more lessons with these two awesome people to inspire me! Thanks for this
Great Vid! EASILY the best bunny hop tutorial Video GMBN have done by a mile!
The best bunny hop tutorial video I've seen. Brilliant. Looking forward to the manual video.
One of the best, if not the best guide, I think what's make the difference here (by accident 😉) is that trainee do not follow teacher (do not ride in pair) but is discovering on her own and only gets comments; I am going outdoor this afternoon 👍😀
["...making sense in your head ... timing starts to work ... starting to use it (red. bunnyhop) ... then it becomes a natural movement ..."] + ["I trust you!"] BRAVO BRAVISSIMO and five stars from me ;-)
Anna smashed it! Seeing someone progress is so satisfying! 👊
Seriously, one of the most helpful videos you have done. Thanks!
This video is amazing very realistic and gives weekend mt bikers hope.
Most helpful breakdown ever! Something about the progression of steps really makes sense here! I’ve been doing it all wrong - I’m off to practice.
I feel really proud of Anna.
Men, this is the best explanation for bunny hop. Thanks
Great job Anna!!! I need to do this, step wise, take my time. Martyn's the best, great instructing. So many bunny hop teachers get's into the flats vs clips and poo-pooing the lifting with clips, oh you get bad habits and your bike will be ugly and you will smell bad.....so great to hear someone say just don't worry about it, the goal is to make it work for you and how you ride. If you ride clips and can't tell when you are lifting, when you should or shouldn't lift, that there is the problem.
Man, I just love the way he explains it. It honestly helped me alot and now I can bunny hop :)
even though I have no problem bunny hopping just watching martyn is more than worth my time! you are a legend mate!
Definitely will try this today! Thank you!
Martyn's coaching and breakdowns are definitely the best... like how he taught that camera dude to wheelie. Learning to gracefully fall off the back of the bike to build confidence is the probably the fastest, easiest way to go about it.
Great teacher and student! I used to teach bunnyhopping on mtbs before we had suspension bikes...a whole lot easier chore!
Best tutorial ever, and I've actually watched tons.
I've never been able to do this. Probably never will, but watching Ashton is my favorite cycling activity. He's such a legend.
Martin, that was great! Glad to see it on a hard tail. Brilliant
Excellent progression. Thank you.
Everytime I watch him I can't help thinking: everyone needs a Martyn in their life.
My favorite comedic/educatonal duo Mr. Ashton and The Stick teaching again🎉
Thankyou for another brilliant video- my bike tries to kill me everytime I try things like this so I reckon this technique may take her by surprise...and then try and kill me!! Martin and Anna you guys 🎸 🤘
Awesome video. I love the progression. It definitely helped me. Off the subject a bit, I loved her laugh. So uplifting.
Anna is the best!
Awesome progress!! I find it easier to basically manual in and then stand up tall to get the rear end up. Dead jealous of that scout too
Man, this was awesome!
Great video!! Learned alot.. Looking forward to seeing more videos like this! 🙂
Best guide I've seen for this👍
Hard to believe she never did a bunny hop before, but great demo of progression.
Great video. And great acting Anna. I appreciate you understanding the trials of us novices.
Thank you for this! I now have the tools to try this!
It's one thing being world class at doing techniques..but being world class at teaching them is something all together different..Martyn is world class at both!!!
Thank you for this vid...I can't wait to practice it tomorrow!! 👍👍👍
Very helpful. As others have said, it really helps to have a real student as opposed to a demonstrator. I think this drill will help me a lot.
Best instructional video ever! Thanks Martyn.
Glad it was helpful!
This was fantastic. Im just getting back into it and I am looking forward to trying to master the bunny hop
Thanks for the great video! You've inspired me to give it a go.
Awesome tutorial! I like that you guys featured a hard tail! Thanks !
Martyn is an awesome coach. Keeps it light and fun, but highly effective techniques🍻
Best BH video I've seen. Thanks.
Really enjoyed watching this, well done to you both🤙
Thanks a ton Kevin!
Martyn is such a great teacher. I have to try and get into one of the sessions with him on the next global bike festival
Good golly Martin your connecting these two movements had both of my wheels over target stones in less than fifteen minutes.
The truth was I couldn't bunnyhop a deck of cards before, THANK YOU
That is actually the best way I’ve heard bunny hopping explained, ever
just perfect simple guiding. Thank you and looking forward for the Manual video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great inspiration I will put this to use for my own goal of learning to bunny hop
Martyn you legend. This vid unlocked it for me too
Been really useful,I started in 26" wheels twenty years ago and could hop well , 20 years away as a Roadie and with a 29" now, it's a different ball game. This helps
Good video. Martyn explained it very well.
Keep practicing Anna.
Thank you! 😃
Clear in the mind / clear on road , thanks master …a lot from Chile
Awesome coaching.
Fantastic teaching
Awesome!
Cone plus log?!? I love you guys! 😄
More videos like this please!!
Great lesson 👍
Anna is lucky to learn from the best!
Nice to see some-body like me on GMBN. Thanks!
Great video and Martyn is the best teacher.
That was very cool!
Amazing Anna! 👏👏
Love the sound of your hub 🥰
Brilliant!!
Loved this
Thanks for a good video. I will use the method to learn to bunnyhop. 👍👍
Well done people👍 I fully expected this comment thread to be full of "should have taught it on flats!" comments, but seems to be far more enlightened viewers of this channel👍 Very good video, think it will help improve my technique too, and I've been bunny hopping for donkeys.
this guy is actually a good teacher, make him teach more
What a great video guys!
Thanks so much!
Interesting seeing this approach. It's a different teaching style than the version Neil did a while back
For me it war really useful to "wait" till the front wheel got up. After I realised that the bunny hop motion felt pretty slow, it was much easier
Thats the methode which i try.
Thans for explaining
Great video
Thank for sharing sir
Martyn is hilarious lol. Love his content. Great vid! She was awesome too.
Glad you enjoyed!
great video, great teacher.
Glad you liked it! 🙌
3:19 That woman: "Nope, I am not walking into this shit."
Great video. I have flats on my MTB so it would be nice to see how we can get the back-end up with flats.
Great video.
Great video
Great progression
For sure! Anna progressed so well over the time she spent with Martyn. 👍
Thank you. (I’m)Working on it,not mastered it. I know it’s a skill that will come in useful on the trails. Practice, practice, practice.
Thanks for riding a hardtail for this video ❤
just trail riding has made my bunny hop massive
Nice! It's crazy how natural it becomes!
Great video - it gives this fumbling newbie a bit of hope! 😉
Glad to hear it!
Great video thanks. My bunny hope needs work, in a galaxy far far away when I was younger I was okay at them. Now I can do one if the consequence it greater than pulled muscles (I surprise myself with how high I can go when needed). I get backache just thinking about doing a manual never could do them.
I'd also like to say 2:33 best teaching advice! I had a few instructors on track days they want to tell you everything they know and everything your doing wrong on a single lap it's overload. One place had a trio of rally champions but my choice was always the privateer/mechanic we'd work the fundamentals till I could stitch them together reliably before adding getting into the nuanced stuff.
".... Let's see, I don't know Anna ...." That's really one of the core messages here 👍 we can listen and see a tons of theory but quite important is to feel it 🤔👌👍; btw: I am still before that stage 😉😀🤣
Legend 👍👍
bunnyhops aside.... that's a slick looking nukeproof. lovin' the paint + frame protection
nobody can teach better than the legend himself!
Awesome
Great Job. 👍
Thanks! 👍
after a season in whistler I still can't bunny hop, but dang after watching Martyn's coaching I feel like I can do it now 🤣
love it. Remind me of the movie karate kid. This is going to help me so much.
