My Uncle was a diesel mechanic in the US Navy during WWll. When they did oil changes in Uncle Sams diesel engines in the boats and ships, they mixed diesel fuel in the engine oil in a ratio, ran the engine for a set number of minutes, drained and refilled with new oil and filters.I'll never forget him saying that. He did it to his Chevrolet pickups he owned after getting home in the years after the war.
@@thefantasticpendejo6182 Sadly, I do not. I do remember it not being that much diesel. 10% diesel / 90% full used crankcase oil ??? But no, I don't remember.
And there's cars with several hundred thousand miles that have never seen a flush, let alone kerosene. The Kero isnt making them last longer, the engineer's fudge factor built into the design and metallurgy has allowed the engines to somewhat shrug off the kerosene.
Bardahl Flush n Engine Tune Up is a 300ml can that smells of kerosene. Instruction is to pour the 300ml into the crankcase and run it for 150miles. It thins out the oil and once 150miles is done, change the oil. I think its a similar concept but less extreme and hardcore to your method sir. And a lot faster.
Doesn't it cause too much pressure on the rear main seal etc, when adding the kerosene to the amount of oil in the engine.? Just a question of curiousity.!
No. Slightly less pressure nothing to worry about. Kerosene will thin the oil. Look at the video which i talk about quantity. But also look at my other kerosene videos
I do this to my cars and Harley every year I like how people do it for 5 min then say look metal particles are in the flush its destroying my engine NOOOOOO its FLUSHING OUT THE SHIT
Royal Purple by itself is the one carrying the highest detergents package. So if your going to use that oil every 3000 miles for the rest of the life of your engine no more flushes required. A guy did a on a BMW a switch to RP and cleaned the entire head. 👌
I did see that one. I will double check with RP to see if the RACING oil which is what I'm using in the SHO, has the detergents in it. Will tell you this when I had engine work done it was as clean as the BMW. What's your opinion on RP oil?
@@thefantasticpendejo6182 very good oil over priced a bit like Redline. Very high viscosity index and a high temperature. If your not living in a cold climate very good choice. Pennzoil ultra platinum can be a very good choice probably also cheaper and recommended for ford ecoboost by a Ford master tech Makuloko channel. 👍
I'm currently using 0w8 RP Racing oil. Massive difference with a thinner oil. Engine feels smoother. It does help when I'm racing against these 392 Daytonas.
What's the state of the oil seals, big ends, main bearings and camshaft lobes after this procedure? I'll stick with putting only the recommended grade of engine oil in my engine thanks.
1/4 oil to 3/4 kerosene and run for 45 minutes... sometimes if it's really bad when I flush it, I will flush it again with 100% kerosene. Let run for 5 minutes more than drain. Looking for amber color when I drain it. Even when it's a dark amber I stop.
@@thefantasticpendejo6182 may i know how bad your engine is before flush? did you open the crankcase? my engine is full of sludge and 'charcoal' but it still running. do you think this method can get rid of them?
Ok..30 yr. Mobile Auto Mechanic...1 quart Kerosene with correct amount capacity oil for Engine Oil Flush running engine from idle to 2000 rpm/ No driving/ Only parked secured...Depending on mileage..This cleans metal mechanicals in engine..but rubber seals are always questionable due to age..One quart only....

I always use diesel. I do 2 quarts for every 5 quarts of oil. I take it for a spirited run around the block and then bring it home once the engine is piping hot
Check out my latest video i posted on ratio. Try my flush first before changing the engine. Make sure the engine is up to operating temp when doing the flush.
Nothing in this video makes sense, yes kerosene flushes have been a thing for a long time and has its place. But the extra oil and completely wrong oil grade is just ridiculous.
@GettingAGrip208 ...Me and you think alike the method above video is unheard-of over here in the UK 🇬🇧.... Maybe we use a 1 litre can of flush with old engine oil at the most....and as for 0-10 Grade...😢😢😢
Yes. Check out the most recent post on ratio. Make sure the engine is up to temp. If it is cold run it with the kerosene until it is up to temp then run for 20 minutes more. But chexk out the most recent video
Just do a specific engine flush product before each oil change. It's a process of step to clean varnish and sludge. Don't try to whack it hard with one or two aggressive flushes. Kerosene does not, does not have the lubricity for bearings, cam lobes, valve train or timing set.
Yes. Ran for like 15 minutes. Use this new formula for safe use. 4 cylinder drain 1 quart of oil and replace with 1 quart of kerosene, 6 cylinder drain 2 quarts replace with 2 quarts of kerosene, 8 cylinder drain 3 quarts replace with 3 quarts of kerosene.... run for 15 minutes. I am currently talking to a few mechanics on all these flushes to see if there is a better way of doing this. Will keep you and everyone posted.
This is a proven method. But in my humble opinion. .. you might have been a tad bit extra on the kero. Replacing 1 quart or so and running the engine for 2-3 mins and the. Replacing filter and new oil -drain repeat with new oil new filter cleans very well and is much more friendly to seals and such. But you are 100% correct. The crank case is squeaky clean. Most times if this amount is only solution. You gotta take one on the chin and admit the engine was neglected for to long and start from scratch.

1 liter of diesel or kerosene every 6 of oil
