I like the term for Bach. Especially since when I was in Grad school - with a music major - Bach was kind of respected - but sort of as a fuddy-duddy. Doing what everyone else did - but much better. He was never given credit for being an original. And I think the idea of madness is ok in this instance - because what Bach conceived is born out of pure inspiration and fantasy. I know the work and knowledge that went into his music - but the manner in which he put it together is so amazing - it is the work of a madman. Or, if you, prefer, a genius. But "madness" makes him more human - more accessible. And I believe he wanted his music to be accessible to all. Pure beauty.

This man is just incredible. Everytime I listen to him he leaves me stunned. One o fthe three living giants imo. Kissin, Volodos and Sokolov. But all three really different.
To my mind, the most distinctive keyboard interpreter Bach has had since Yudina, Tureck and Gould. Certainly one of the most audacious and most directly moving. The drive he gives this French Overture, the sheer sonority of it, the way he speeds up the return of the fugue... like a force of nature yet deliberate and absolutely logical. It grabs one immediately by the thoat and robs one of all speech, but also challenges expectations and convinces the intelligence at every turn.... How anyone can compare him to Pletnev or Barenboim, musical mannerists and technique-mongers boring as museum exhibits, is completely beyond me.
I never herad Tudine but I hadf de inmense pleasure to meet Rosaklyn TurecK and her Bach playing was exactly perfect. Much of Gould also, specailly in his younger recordings. Sokolov do not reach such levels and I prefere him playiong Beethoven

Andrey Legkiy what did you say? I can’t read. My sight is blurry
Just bawling. And it’s embarrassing, because I’m on a flight. I think my seat neighbor thinks I’m a lunatic
Безграничный Талант виртуоза!! Высоко духовно! Очень благодарны!
Come on Elena!!!! Grigory Sokolov Only Spiritual Virtuoso Pianists??? The Truth is=Grigory Sokolov=THE GIANT OF THE PIANO!!! THE TITAN OF THE PIANO!! Grigory Sokolov=THE Rhythmic Vital Beat!!! Unbeatable vitalness!!! Grigory Sokolov his Chopin piano concerto no 2!! Brahms piano concerto no 2!! Mozart piano concerto no 24!! Saint-Saens piano concerto no 2!! AFTER GRIGORY SOKOLOV PLAYED THESE CONCERTOS THEN ALL THE OTHERS PIANISTS ARE REALLY ONLY THE DUST ZEROS!!! Sokolov Versus Horowitz 100-0!! Sokolov Versus Maurizio Pollini 100-0!! Sokolov Versus Lazar Berman 275000-0!! Lazar Berman The Sledgehammer pianist Ever! D

He has such a tremendously beautiful singing tone with his staccato playing! Very few, if any can match it.
Sokolov´s performances are always mesmerizing and almost divine.
Just incredible.
I agree. Never heard such an interpretation.
What a sound. Ravishing. He really sells it.
Master of arts. Amazing.
Spectacular. Thanks for uploading.
Восхитительно!
Freakishly brilliant. My God. Astounding.
Absolutely brilliant. Sokolov doesn't miss all this great music has to offer.
Best living pianist on our planet. Period.
It is you own opinion.
But you cannot put the standards in this world, fortunately.
@@felixsinniger280 well said
Jeez.....this is brilliant. Every note is a pearl.
This man is just incredible. Everytime I listen to him he leaves me stunned. One o fthe three living giants imo. Kissin, Volodos and Sokolov. But all three really different.
Pathy1 We can argue Marc Andre Hamelin being there
Kissin has got “it” too.
they are all russian jews
Really? And how the real ONLY GENIUS Mikhail Pletnév?!?😇
Kissin is not in the same league as Volodos, Sokolov, Pletnev. Now with the appearance of the demonic Yunchan Lim we have a new Titan of the keyboard.
Sokolov has a very very amazing technique... He's a truly musician.

BEST TEXT EVER ABOUT SOKOLOV-BACH , MELITONGUE, YOU THE MAN!
@@joangarcia-alsina2932 "Sokolov do not reach such levels"... Lol. You perhaps meant: "Sokolov does not reach...". Anyways, he is *at least* on the level of the pianists you name. And yes, his style is different.
@@jansnauwaert1785 Thank you for the correction.
Величайший русский пианист! Очень удивило отсутствие комментариев соотечественников. AntonioDGO большое Вам спасибо за предоставленную возможность насладиться творчеством Григория Соколова.

Marvellous! Thank you Mr Sokolov!!!
I wanted to leave a comment for Sokolov, but I have no words to describe this kind of talent! Sokolov is best pianist alive today!
Sublime…makes life worth living.
Grigory Sokolov=THE TITAN OF THE PIANO!! THE GIANT OF THE PIANO!! Grigory Sokolov his Chopin piano concerto no 2! Brahms piano concerto no 2!! Mozart piano concerto no 24! Saint-Saens piano concerto no 2! AFTER Grigory Sokolov played These concertos then All The others PIANISTS ARE REALLY ONLY THE DUST ZEROS!!! Grigory Sokolov played Haydn piano concerto no 11 in My home city 1991!?.IT was The Real SHOCKER! Sokolov his Haydn concerto was around and The softest Ever! The White and Yellow gas risen from The piano! The piano sound was 'Cotton Candy sound tone'. All The others like Pletnev and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli and Argerich Their Haydn concerto playing totally diffirent than Sokolov! This Haydn concerto playing maybe Lost for Ever!!
