ASC T-128 Alert/Attack LaPorte, IN 9/6/14

- Here is the T-128 near downtown LaPorte located at Stone Lake, near Craven Dr. This siren was originally a 2T22 from 1976 until 1997, when the 2T22 was moved out to Eastside Produce (I have a vid of it) and a 2001 was added at this location. Then, in 2008, the 2001 called it quits and was replaced with the T-128 that's seen here, making this the 3rd 2001 in the county that was replaced with an ASC siren.
The FSK you hear at the beginning was the command to start the voice sequence on all of the voice sirens. Shortly after, you can hear the I-Force at the fairgrounds beeping away in the background. A whopping 14 minutes later (11:13CDT) the tones for Alert came through and the 3 minute alert/attack sequence starts. Finally, at the end of the attack sequence, more FSK can be heard silent checking all 47 sirens. - Наука та технологія
Ah. Finally found one that sounds just like the T-128 in my neighborhood. All the other ones are just slightly lower-pitched.
That 1st burst of FSK seems to make all the mechanical sirens drop whatever they’re doing and get ready for the test, as seen in Tommy’s most recent LaPorte video.

WarningSirensOfMichiana Yel! I think it’s quite funny how the FS sirens listen for the ASC FSK, kind of makes it a bit ironic, doesn’t it??
Not really, they have ASC radios.

I’d much rather have this thing warn me of impeding doom from Mother Nature, but alas, all my county has are stinking 2001’s.

I have seen two of these in Maryland. Also a Model 2 or 2t and Also two STH-10s.
Odd. We hear FSK at the beginning and then two tone for the siren activation.
As of now they only activate with FSK
On Monday night, when the sirens were activated because of the storm, I heard a siren that seemed to be struggling. I think it may have been this one - anyone know for sure?

The one downtown (by the overpass) was working just fine. The same went for the siren test earlier this month, when the one siren was once again struggling to stay on the high tone during the alert test.
This siren petered out during the first test (alert) this morning. It "growled" two or three times and at the last one, wound down completely. Only time will tell if they'll repair or replace it.
Listening to the siren test as I type this and this siren is working again, but is back in struggling mode.
The siren appears to have finally been fixed - I hear what sounds like a T-128 coming from that area, in addition to the one by the overpass.
Refresh my memory - what were the first two 2001s that were replaced?
+Peelsock The first one was the one at the Kingsford Heights FD, that one was replaced for an unknown reason in 2007. Then this one in 2008. The last one was at Washington Park in Michigan City. There used to be a fairly new 2001 there installed around 2006. In 2012, they replaced it with the ASC E-Class for voice capabilities. The 2001 was then moved to Briar Leaf Golf Course in LaPorte.

BTW, the two 2t22's and the Thunderbolts were installed in LP in 1978, not 1976 (back then, we still had to rely on the siren at the LP waterworks on Lake Street, which did carry quite far, but, of course, not to the outskirts of the city). October, 1996 was when the 2001 replaced the 2t22 (the two sirens that were replaced in 1997 were the Allis Chalmers siren (the one by the overpass) and the one at the landfill (which, as we know, was moved to the junction of 4 and 104, virtually replacing the one at the Pleasant Twp FD, which petered out years ago). It was indeed 2008 when the T-128 replaced the relatively short-lived 2001 (sirens generally last more than 12 years, lol!)
Ah my bad. What siren was at Laporte waterworks? I know that, other than the 2 2T22s, LP was all Thunderbolts that were installed at the locations of the current 2001s.
The old siren at the Pleasant Twp FD is actually still active. It has a new radio on it and sounds together with the 2001. I actually tried to record video of it in May of 2014, but the county was 30 minutes late testing. I heard it while I was leaving, about equidistant between the two sirens. Loud and clear!
+WarningSirensOfMichiana Not sure what siren was at the waterworks, since I'd never seen it. Whatever it was, it was single-toned and sounded somewhat like the 2001s. It was used for storms, as well as a curfew whistle (for the latter, it would sound for about a minute every night at 10:00).

are you sure it doesn't have a t 135 motor? it sounds overpitched to be a 128

+Creeperboy It's not a freaking T-135, look up a pic of the T-135, and compare it to this. The front of the horn looks different.
