I watched this on a train crossing through the German countryside during golden hour on my way to live my best life and play music in Berlin and I must say I almost cried at how beautiful these sounds were
hi Doctor Mix. For 2 days since I discovered your channel, I have listened to Jupiter X and Rewiew Roland D50 several times. Unlike other Keyboard tool presenters, you have a great Audio Video imagination. Now I show my father-in-law this demo with Jupiter X and we were amazed ... and we are one of those who promote quality music with analog instruments and Russian religious music in particular. The sound of a synthesizer on Russian minor songs is incredible ...
There’s a reason that my Xm and X are my favorite modern synths, and that’s the FUN. You did a great job capturing that 👏 Now, don’t forget to update your firmware. It’s probably on 1.21 out of the box, and MANY improvements have been made up to 1.43. Looking forward to seeing more, and I’m glad you showed the world how exciting the X is when you first power it up.
That's something that crossed my mind when I watched, if u have a band that needs some synth but u don't have a keyboardist this beast could definitely help a band bs their way through.... And the price ain't bad
Jupiter X.... ⚡️"Hell yeah!" I'm glad that Roland is reclaiming their "mantle" in the synthesizer world!! Roland made so many fantastic products in the past. They can do it again! This synth sounds great. I'm listening on studio monitors. 👍 Dr Mix, you're taste is very good. I'm glad that it's you who is showcasing this to me for the first time. Man, from 20:03 on is... 🎵🎶✨
Roland has an excellent balance in the mix (volume/pan pot/timbre). I hear that the Jupiter x uses a (stereo) delay instead of mass reverb like other brands. That makes the tone less muddy and it retains the definition and timbre and the tone is thick. The effects are in excellent supporting volume, even with base drum it gives the right amount. It becomes easy to mix with the Jupiter x. Thanks for your demo of my search
I’m laughing at you first discovery of this beautiful synth. I did similar things when I unbox mine. Didn’t want to read manual and didn’t care for I was having so much fun playing.
It has lots of sounds and engines in it, which is par for the course for most synths of this type nowadays. BUT...I think the really interesting part of this synth is the AI-driven auto-accompaniment drums/arp engine. You'll have to demo that for us once you get your head around it.
other synths don't sound like this tho, Roland made these synths at one time, so obviously they'd be the best at making their own products sound right.
The Jupiter X has quickly become one of my favorite synth ever and this video reinforced why I love it so much, keep up the fantastic work Dr Mix, your enthusiasm is infectious!!!🤘🎹🤘
Claudio, REALLY REALLY wish what you started at 17:00 would keep going. I was hearing full songs in my head. Would have loved to turn it into a jam session. It was taking me places. I love this freaking keyboard.
Between you and Loopop you have two of the best and most GAS-inducing channels! Loopop tells us every little detail and you make us smile and want to buy!
Just bought one. I have it tomorrow (17/06/2022) ! It'll join the Roland team with olds and news synths. I'm waiting now the Juno-X ! Thanks a lot for your demo, it's always a pleasure to watch your movies ! Kisses from Reunion Island !
In the mid to late 80's I was stationed in the UK with the Air Force. One of my fellow workers was in a bind and tried to sell me his Jupiter-6. I declined. I was saving for a DX-7 which I eventually got, played, stored, sold. Lesson was learned. I now have a Jupiter-X.
Always have an always be an OB-mann. That said, your near-Jump was just "Too Much Heaven" to even try to resist--you had me at heaven's gate!! KUDOS, Claudio and The Gibb Bros. Oh, and as 4 Roland---despite trading my 3 mo old Juno 60 for an ARP Omni-2 in 1983 (best decision ever...seriously), Jupiter 8 and X are definitely superb!!
Most of the Jupiter X online demos I have heard are crap. Needless to say, my expectations of the Jupiter X were very low. I was quite surprised when I received my Jupiter X and started programming it. It sounds great and feels even better to play. The build quality of the Jupiter X is definitely first rate. While I don't feel it sounds "analog", it can certainly come close in sound to most of the synthesizers it is trying to mimic. The downsides... the interface is convoluted, the tiny screen is a joke, and the learning curve is quite high which is a major disappointment. The capabilities of the Jupiter X do make for near endless sound possibilities though. Hopefully Roland simplifies the editing with future OS updates, adds new features, and continues to support the Jupiter X and make it better. Major Caveat for those considering buying a Jupiter X. If you don't like to extensively program and are easily stressed out, the Jupiter X is probably not for you. I would not recommend this synth to a newbie.
How can anyone lot love this video. I just got a Ensoniq TS12 and was pretty proud of myself, then I hear this monster. My god, this synth is awesome! Great vid Claudio.
Claudio has come same far with this channel.. total pro style synth set up. Power left right pedal stand Herman Miller chair studio monitors time to set up 5 seconds. Perfect
Wow! I'm a diehard fan of real analog synths, but I must admit that I'm very very impressed by this VA ! How many voices maximum in Jupiter 8 mode? Thanks for sharing!
Roland is the best synthesizer for polyphony, and for the music I make, (new age). My first polyphonic synthesizer was the JUPITER 4. thank you Claudio, I like when you say VOILA in French ... L-O-V
🎼 It’s been forever since I heard anyone use the term, New Age Music. I’m a new age artist since the late 80s. Glad to meet you. Check out my TIME with the TIME clock. Cheers!
This is the first Jupiter since, you know, the original JP-8 to be true to the Jupiter moniker, and possess the progression Roland strives for. Yes, it’s not true analog, but just like we’ve seen in the Prophet-X, or Solaris for example, it doesn’t matter when you achieve such a great sound.
Frankly I don't see "true analog" as advantage. Rather a limitation. I own quite a few analog synths (original -106, three JX-8P, JX-10, Prophet-6, a few modern ones), and every time I feel how limited they are. Frankly for me it doesn't matter what's inside of that synth, or if it is even filled with rocks, as long as it sounds great and easy to program. An "old" JP-80 wasn't a bad synth at all, the only drawbacks were an awkward menu-driven UI and lack of realtime controls on the surface.
@@ariksemagin7220 I agree for the most part. Having a usable panel, interface, to connect with the instrument is more important. That's the organic experience of being a true sythesist. Having said that, I do wish Roland would actually re-release a modern analog version of the Jupiter-8, similar to the new Oberheim OB-X8, which from all indications sounds absolutely fantastic. I also wish Alesis would re-release the Andromeda. I actually mentioned this to someone there in a forum and got the impression even though they had the specs, the team that created it were long gone, and they seemed to think it wasn't worth the effort to raise the capital to put it into production and were focusing on other things. I think they are wrong, and they'd sell a heap of them. That was a beautiful sounding, very intuitive analog synth.
@@PhilAndersonOutside I doubt Roland will re-release an original JP-8 like Sequential did with P-5: cost of reproducing of analog circuitry is enormous (a simple 8-voice analog poly with two VCOs per voice requires no less than 16 physical VCOs). The market for these "new analogs" is fairly small, they are not the mainstream universal synths like Kronos, Montage or even an old Triton! I like my classics, but they stay at home. What goes to gigs is an old 2001 Roland XP30 that has every patch from classics in its 2000+ patch collection, and most sounds better actually, cleaner, brighter, with more polyphony and effects. The only one who can take on this task (reissue of a close copy of JP-8) is Behringer. They almost finished OB-Xa in 16-voice version and some other improvements and can certainly produce JP-8. Somehow they manage to keep costs down and release classics at a reasonable cost. I have their DM-12 and love it. All depends on price: Moog's MiniMoog reissue a few years back was big flop: very few would pay $3500 for a mono synth without patch memory in 2020.
I love how you do the filter mouth thing same as I do when I’m having some filter action. I just can’t not make shapes with my mouth when I’m filtering 😂😂 but I CAN eat a donut without licking my lips. Oh and what a synth!
It's very interesting to see how digital capabilities, which in fact are in pair with any pc, can make a difference. Dynamics are unclear. Reality is that digital reovlution happened kind of ages ago. At this moement we have it all. Difficulty for the Roland is how to make a device which differentiate. Hey Claudio. I love my Jupiter X. It gives instant gratification, but dig deep and you'll be rewarded with sonic juicy fruits. Sending love & light Stevie
I ve watched several of your videos. Just wanted to say I really like them. You do an exceptional job. I like the Jupiter X. Maybe it can be number 10 Yahooooooo.
Wow I thought Claudio was gonna Van Halen right at the beginning but he had more self control.
And some Matt Johnson towards the middle
I thought same, because i played van halen when first got this synth.
Same here!
Lol right 😂😂💯
I thought that as well.
You sure know how to lift my spirit. That pure joy you show when unboxing this amazing sounding synth. Like a kid in a candy store. I just love it ❤️

The X is a beast. Nice to see you got hold of one!
I really want one BAD!!!😬😬 I'm pretty sure I'm gonna dump my JD-800 to get one

Doctor Mix can make any synthesizer sound like the best synthesizer in the world! Lots of fun listening, thanks!
the sounds are totally breathtaking and this thing can go through all genres, I'd never get tired of hearing it 🎵🎵🎵
I’m getting serious CS-80 vibes and Bladerunner images from the sounds of this synth, would love one of these - just needs a long ribbon strip lol
I thought so too.
10:14 I cannot bear one bit the sheer amount of beauty this sound has 😩😭😩😭
Frikkin' GORGEOUS instrument! May it bring you many hours of joy and a whole lotta good tunes from you!
This Synth is dope!! OMG what a piece of equipment... bravo to Roland!
