Highbury was a grand venue, and they demolished the place why? all these post-modern grounds have now gone and been moved been re-built somewhere else, it makes me fuckin sick how the elites have destroyed our game bastards
I was at this game. Stood on my own on the North Bank. My mate was up the other end with the Man Utd fans. Bus from Cardiff. A great trip for me, but I will always remember my mate’s face when we met up after the game ended 😂
dunno if you guys cares but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all the new movies and series on Instaflixxer. I've been watching with my girlfriend lately :)
This was the first live game I ever watched. My father took us there on our family holiday from Malta. Tickets cost GBP 4.50 (!!). Highbury was small but it was magic. Wonderful memories. I remember the match game brochure featuring Tony Adams then a 20 year old and at the beginning of his first of many prominent seasons at Arsenal (even though he had already played some 26 times in the previous two seasons). Thank you - you opened the floodgates of memory
My first away game @ Highbury. I was amazed @ how small the place was and how old fashioned the houses around the stadium were. I stood @ the clock end and there were United fans all over in amongst Arsenal. I was gutted @ the result as so much was expected of United's star studded team. After the game I went into town to have a pint just off Park Lane. Sat @ the bar and noticed that the bloke along from me looked familiar. It was only Patrick Duffy from Dallas fame. We chatted for 5 minutes and he was doing some play in the west end at that time. I then went back home and did the night shift @ work. Funny I can remember loads about that day but have no clue what I had for lunch yesterday!!
My dad took me to this, going into the east stand you had an open window my dad got his mate to pass me through and I got a freebie, well a few more drinking tokens for me dad lol
Thanks for the upload! Been searching for some footage from this match for years. It was that season I started following United seriously. I had a subscription for the matchday programe, The United Review, and Match (a football magazine). Remember there was a booklet following one Match issue, that you could write down the stats and line-ups. My first live game was QPR v United, easter 87. Not a great season for United, but really special to me. The first United-game I remember watching on tv, was the 1979 FA Cup-final😉 Greetings from Norway!
My first United game at Old Trafford was against Watford in November 1985. 1-1 draw. I then went regularly home and away for the next 17 years. I first went to Highbury the following season to this game though. United won 2-1 with Strachan getting one of the goals. We were dreadful at the start of this season. It would obviously culminate in the sacking of Big Ron and some lesser known manager from Scotland took over………
Who would have thought this would have been Charlie's last full season at Arsenal.... Probably the biggest underachiever in the history of English football....
Agreed. Charlie was on the clubbing scene from day one. Fitness and late drunken nights don't mix with fitness over a long period of 10 seasons. Charlie should have. Dropped into midfield at Arsenal but graham had to move him on.
Hahahaha. You not seen any of the overrated wankers wenger bought? Charlie is an Arsenal legend. Likes of ozil, abamayang etc can only dream of being loved by the Arsenal faithful so much
CMEAGAIN No, Fergie didn't become manager until October/November 86...this game took place in August..it was George Graham's first ever game as Arsenal manager.

In more ways than one I might add. Well said.

This was the last time until tonight (5/12/18), that either Fergie or Wenger wasn't in the dugout during an Arsenal v Man Utd game. 32 years!

Neutral Observer. Manchester United supporters never took over Highbury.
@@olayinkaamara385 utd fans used to be dotted around most grounds in seats etc. he never said take over.

@@redflag8970 Thanks for explaining it further, I thought he actually meant take over 👍

Wasn’t the reverse fixture 2-0 to Utd on New Years Day ‘87? Quite a feisty affair if I remember.

Finally got to see the goal after 31 years! It was my first game and since then I thought it was a header from Nicholas near the end of the match.
I think Everton will win the league this year...that sentence hasn't been said much since.
Those Arsenal adidas originals jackets were reproduced in 2021 22 season. Managed to get 1 and that shirt
Need to reissue that Arsenal shirt classic again now that Adidas is back. Current shirt resembles this home shirt

Charlie nicholas underachieved as a player
he should have moved to liverpool instead of arsenal
Bachittar Lehal Nope not Liverpool.
shut up you dickhead.
Poor Frank Stapletons legs had gone by then. Utd looked decrepit and it soon cost big Ron his job.
Think fergie was manager here
