  • BASLOW 1958, I took this Cine Film when I was 15, my parents had an Antique and Gift Shop there from the 1950's until the early 60's, I was always interested in cars hence the Cine Film,
There were a lot more British vehicles on the road back then than there are now, and I knew every make of car,

Great video.I lived in Froggatt in 40s and early 50s so know "Basler" well. There used to be a bench in that triangle with a plaque that said "Sit a while and wonder why the world on wheels goes rushing by". I was a tanker driver in 60s and 70s and used that A619 many times when running out of Staveley Chemicals,so I disturbed the peace as well as all tother lorry drivers.

Nice one rod, I notice alot of the 50s cars have been well filmed, If we filmed the cars of today on the road and looked back in sixty years we would never have the same look it would be no point.. Cars today are faceless boxes.

I remember a lot of those old cars, although this was 8 years before my time.. But I can still remember that smell of the REAL leather interior seats. Even more so in the summer months, built to last, unlike the cars now in the throw away society..
